Knitting Tree

I have been here several times and have never had a great experience. I like higher quality yarns for knitting projects and they seem to stock some nice brands in a small assortment of colors. The «help» I have received in the past has definitely given me a sour taste in my mouth, but it never made me mad enough to not return. That is, until my most recent experience.
I had purchased 5 skeins of pricey yarn ($ 100 worth) to make a baby blanket for a family member who is expecting. Unfortunately the color I chose ended up not being to their liking and I came in and purchased a different color to make the blanket. Since I had started the other blanket I decided to keep the yarn that had already been used to make something else and took four unused skeins back to return. I was assuming I would get store credit and could just purchase some yarn for a Christmas gift. When I returned with the yarn, the woman behind the counter took one look at the bag and said she couldn’t return it because it had been wound up. Never before had I been told that if they used their machine to wind the yarn, it would be non-​refundable. Let me also note that they are the ones that wound it up in the first place. To be honest, it seemed like she couldn’t be bothered to do a return, and after she informed me of my mistake, she rudely walked away without even allowing me a rebuttal.
I will not be returning to the knitting tree and am giving two stars because of the nice quality yarn they sell. It’s a shame the staff are chasing business out the door; this place has real potential.

The staff are just plain rude and condescending. Not friendly and not very helpful and after hearing what they had to say after hanging up the phone with a customer I won’t go back. Go to Wisconsin craft market there is a much larger selection, cheaper, and more helpful.

My favorite store! I shop here all the time. Customer service is excellent. They will help you with anything your stuck on and even offer finishing services. Special orders are no problem for them and they arrive quickly! Great selection of quality yarns and a huge amount of knit up samples you can try on!

I love going to the Knitting Tree even when I have several projects already in the works. It’s just a pleasant store to be in, and all of the sales staff are welcoming and friendly. I usually buy more yarn even when I don’t need any yet! And they have a great button selection too… Well worth the visit!

I came in here ready to buy a few hanks of yarn. I was looking for a particular brand (Manos del Uruguay) and had been directed to this store. After looking around unsuccessfully for about 15 minutes (mind you this is a pretty small store) I tried to get help from the staff. I had to ask a sales person 4 times before she acknowledged me. Literally, I said «excuse me,» and she acted like she couldn’t hear me until the 4^th time. Mind you, she was not speaking with another person. I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced ruder behavior from a customer service professional. In the 15 minutes that I was in the store I did not receive one acknowledgment from one of the 2 sales people who were working there. Even a brief «hello» would have gone a LONG way. I was trying to locate the yarn I wanted on my own, but I genuinely needed help to find what I was looking for. In the end, they had very few colors in the brand that I wanted. I heard them telling another customer that they could make special orders but no such offer was made to me. Honestly, I will probably not be back here, at least not for a while. I truly felt unwelcome. As far as their yarns go, they have a nice but eclectic selection. There were brands from Lamb’s Pride and Cascade on up to much higher end stuff but it was a limited hodgepodge of each. If you are going in wanting something in a specific weight and color, there is a good chance they might not have what you are looking for. In my opinion, their decent yarn selection is not worth enduring their insultingly horrible customer service.
