Before I went to consign at the store, I scoped out the merchandise to see what type of clothes or audience the stored was geared towards. In my opinion, it looked like I walked into my mom’s closet. Lots of older style clothes that you would find at Lord & Taylor or Macy’s women section for 50 – 60 year old women. Not a lot of designer, boutique, or modern pieces that young hipsters would wear. Considering that I was attempting to consign older pieces but in excellent condition, I thought this was the perfect store for it. However, when I went to consign, I was told the items were way too dated and not for the college kids that it caters to. Had me fooled! When I went to the store, there was not one college kid there. I was probably the youngest person in the store! In fact there was a 70-ish year old woman buying a Vera Bradley type bag. Unless they are going through a transition to be more young and hip, the store seemed to have an identity crisis. They only take«newish», hip college-age clothes but the clothes that was on the floor totally did not reflect that. A previous reviewer mentioned the same thing but that review was back in 2011. Looks like it’s still the same.

New Leaf is an amazing store! I always bring my family from New York to shop here. They always have a wonderful range of high-end shoes, handbags, amazing and unique jewlery, and clothing. The staff is uberly friendly! They always help me pick out complete outfits, for any occasion. The clothing are also clean! most consignment shops I have expreienced, they have stains all over the clothing and coats its really disguisting! I find that their prices are very reasonable especially considering the names brands they provide. And don’t get me start on frugal room! OMG! the fact that you can find amazing top, skirts, and pants for less then $ 10!

I’d give them 3 stars for the merchandise, but two stars in dealing with them to consign items because there’s too big of a difference between what they say on their website and their practice. If you’re in the area, and don’t have a problem with shopping in a consignment store, it could be worth a few minutes. I actually do better at the Goodwill Store in Rockaway, however!

I have been to many shops like these, and New Leaf is not too bad. The boutique is small. Most of the clothing and jewelry is in the front; shoes, handbags, and hats were in the back in another small room. The selection or sizes, clothing, and accessories is wide. Their pricing is reasonable. They carry a nice range of brands. When they have a sale, take advantage; I got a new pair of Jessica Simpson shoes(red patent leather open toe heels) for $ 5, and a new pair of Kenneth Cole(maryjane heels) for $ 6. I overheard that they are planning to get a bit more selective with the merchandise they will be accepting. They plan to sell mostly designer items in the near future.

The New Leaf Consignment Boutique offers a wide range of women’s clothing. Though I do not tend to shop in stores like these, they are a terrific place to drop off old clothing you no longer need. For a minor $ 10 annual fee, you can set-up endless appointments with the staff to review your seasonal clothing donations to the shop. The owner reviews the articles and sends an itemized statement showing the sale value of each piece. New Leaf will leave the clothing on the rack for 60 days, providing you with 40% of anything that sells. If, however, your clothing has not sold within this time frame, they will provide you with a tax return slip, while they handle the donation transfer. It seems like a great plan to me!
