Lue and Stephen moved from their previous location to the Pinckney location sometime in mid-​December, and the new digs are fantastic.

Truly some of (if not) the best barbers in the Madison area. Personable, professional, dedicated, and just all-​around great. They worked wonders on my beard (when I had it) and taught me a ton about taming my wild crowsnest of hair — how to work with it, rather than against it. I’m a fan.

Getting my hair cut is always a struggle because 1) most barbers have no clue how to deal with my thick, straight, Asian hair, and 2) it takes a few tries before the barber learns, but that means going months with ugly hair. So I was extremely careful to look around for the most reputable barber, and I found this charming place. This joint is run by two suave gentlemen, true connoisseurs in the art of grooming male hair. I get my hair cut by Luu, one of the duo, and after I made my reservations known he really dazzled me with both attention to details as well as familiarity with my recalcitrant hair type. Besides of course the utmost skill with both razor and scissors, he was careful to narrate exactly what he intended to do and sought my feedback about how I wanted to look. He knew that I had an image in my head of how I wanted to look, and he went above and beyond to work with me to achieve that ideal. After the cut was a hair wash, complete with a warm face towel. Such a level of service and attention to detail goes above and beyond the bare minimum, and Luu elevates hair grooming into an art form.
They actually recently moved to this new location, which besides being spacious is also partnered with a coffeeshop, Si Café, which offers pour-​overs and espressos. It’s not the most elaborate coffeeshop, but being able to grab a delicious cup of coffee after a haircut is just that cherry on top which makes getting my hair cut one of the most pleasurable and relaxing activities that I look forward to every month.
