You don’t know how many cool games and toys there are for kids until you visit The Learning Shop. They have curated an excellent selection for the kiddo, teacher, or person who works with kids in your life. Get a gift from here and it is sure to be a hit. I appreciate the sensory area and that they have ‘testers’ behind the counter if you ask to try out these items. As they are not toys but tools to meet brain-body needs for those with a sensory processing disorder, its important to get what works and not just what looks cool. On my most recent visit one boy had his hand in one of the kinetic sand areas and my kiddo had hers in another. He was in it for at least 10 minutes while his adult shopped. He never left it. When my daughter was done after a few minutes she said, «Whoo! I feel a lot better!» I had no intention of getting sand when I walked in. Do you think we left with some? YUP! Non-comprehensive list of SENSORY selections: chewy pencil toppers, chewy tubes, weighted items, various hand manips, putty, and kinetic sand! I appreciate the service of the workers when I made my visit last month. We were to meet someone to buy my recommended selections for a large metropolitan entity. When that person fell ill, The Learning Shop staff agreed to save my selects in a basket with the name of the person to pick up the next day. That showed a respect for the value of my time and understanding that ‘stuff happens’, and they still make a pretty decent sized sale! Win win!

I love school supplies. I love toys. I loved being a kid. Why wouldn’t I love somewhere that combines all 3? Bonnie was a HUGE help today while I was running around like a crazy fool picking up props for a future event. It took me a while to break down and ask for assistance, but with her expertise what could have been a 3 hour trip was only about an hour. Sound long? It should… there’s tons to look at. Tons to see. Sections for math, science, reading, writing, areas broken down by age, by crafty stuff, by boys, by girls… everywhere I looked there was something new, something bright, something colorful. I’m going to be honest, it’s a good thing I had a meeting to get to because I could have gone ADD on The Learning Shop and flitted back and forth from section to section until they closed. So much to look at. So much fun!
