While I admit to not being a big wine cone suer, I love their handcrafted ciders. This is one of my favorite places to hang out in Madison. Cozy and friendly old world charm. Great music on the weekends. Owners recently added an outdoor bread oven and do specialty pizzas once a month. Many locals call the second home. About as close to an old Irish pub as you’ll ever see in the US.

My wife and I first came here 5 years ago for our anniversary and have been back every year since. Steve and Liz are great hosts and do everything to make sure everyone has a great time. Wine is great and the cheeses /meats they serve are wonderful. Atmosphere when they have a band playing is really fun… all in all a MUST stop when in Madison.

My husband and I stopped in during our weekend trip to Madison. The wine tasting had a decent selection and the wine was good– We both loved the Native American Blush. However, the homemade cheese and salami stole the show! We ordered a sample of just about every cheese they offered and the salami. I would have been happy making a whole meal out of the both of them. Can’t wait to return on our next trip to Madison!

Stopped in on a Monday for a little vacation wine-time. As usual, I had lots of questions… The bar keep may have been drunk but he was very knowledgable and told great stories! Thomas Family wine is made for food, and they tell you how to get the most from your pairings. I recommend the Zinfandel and the Vidal Blanc. And of course the hard ciders! While you’re in town visit Clifty Falls and the Riverfront. Madison’s a lovely town with a couple of neat wineries.

This is a place to go on a Friday evening and be transported back in time. Most Friday’s it’s kind of an open mic, with mostly Celtic music. Most Saturdays great musical entertainment. This is the place to be for special events like Halloween. If you want to feel like you’ve wandered into an Irish tavern in the 1700’s, go here. Great cheese and bread. Great characters and company.

On a Tuesday afternoon in January, I was the only visitor. Steve was very enthusiastic about his wine and went into great detail about each ones origins. I tasted most of the current offerings and purchased six bottles. I also had a glass of the Rio Red 2010 and some cheese and salami — Steve’s choice. One of the cheeses was a cheddar and I bought the last of it. Ha ha. Tastings end at 5pm and people stop in, purchase a glass or two and chat. The tasting room is not fancy but is comfortable in a homey way. I’m going to drag my husband in for a pre-dinner drink before we leave town. It was a pleasant way to spend an hour while my clothes agitated at the local laundry.

Excellent wine This winery is in town and near the river. It is one of the wineries on the Indiana Wine trail. We tried the Sauvignon Blanc, Rosato, Carignane Nouveau, Rio Red, Zinfandel, and Native American Blush. Our favorite was the Native American Blush. Our tasting guide explained the flavors of each wine. Very enjoyable tasting with all the commentary from this upbeat man.

The wines, created by «traditional» methods — at least that’s how it was explained to us, were super disappointing. We didn’t even feel it necessary to buy a pity bottle. The bulk of them have a strange after taste, and if you’re a sweet wine drinker, you might as well not even walk in. Service was friendly.
