Don’t be fooled by the granite counters and the football stadium across the street. I signed up here in October of my Freshman year because they really pressure you and make you think you will get stuck in University Housing or away from your friends if you don’t sign a contract. The place is really overpriced for Madison where there is a glut of housing. Then they try and make you think you are getting a good deal with their 10 month lease, but you have to pay $ 95 extra per month for 10 months, so you really don’t save too much, but they make lots of $$. I think that is the point of Varsity Quarters – they make lots of $$. The worse part is how small the bedrooms are. Four of us share two bedrooms and when we signed up we saw an empty unit and were told we’d get something like it. Well, my room can only hold a bunk bed and 2 small desks that you could never sit at jammed against a wall. The closet isn’t big enough for 1 person, and you can’t walk around at all. My housemate pays the same as me but gets a bigger room, because they explain you only signed up for a bedroom, not a specific sized bedroom. There is a decent sized living room, but there is nowhere to study – if you can’t study on your bed or at a desk, where are you supposed to study? At the kitchen counter? On the couch while everyone is watching their free TV(with not so many channels)? It’s a bad deal. Don’t do it. Don’t make money for Varsity Quarters. There are a lot better, places to live at a fair price.
