Velvet Waxing Studio

Great place! I’ve been going there for a couple years now. I regularly go to Taj, who I highly recommend, but I’ve been to a few other too who were all great as well. Everyone is super friendly and professional.

I have been going to velvet for a couple years now for Brazilians and eyebrows, and as long as I live in Madison, I will not go anywhere else for my waxes. I have seen 4 different people and all have done a wonderful job. I know go to Tracey regularly, and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone. She is so friendly and does a great job of making you feel comfortable. She also pays very close attention to what she is doing and goes the extra step to make sure nothing has been missed. As far as a Brazilian waxing experience goes, I can’t imagine it gets much better.

I had a waxing appointment today with Brittany and Taj. I would recommend both highly! I was terrified going in that it would be painful and awkward, but the entire staff made me feel so comfortable and I was pleasantly surprised. It was less painful than I was expecting and I am so pleased with the results! I will be going back here! Well worth any extra money spent compared to other salons — they know what they’re doing! :)

I had a Brazilian wax done about a year ago with Taj. I guess i just had really great experiences before, I never knew you could get bruised from waxing! I thought waxing was painful enough, when you don’t pull the skin taut enough apparently you can get pretty hurt. I knew something was wrong as soon as she pulled the wax off, it stung so much. The bruise remained for awhile. Needless to say I was not happy and would never step my foot back in that place. I realize I could probably go with someone else but that kinda thing leaves you pretty scarred.

Maryna is fantastic! She does a great job and is such a wonderful person! She makes you feel very welcome and greets you like an old friend every time you come in. I’ve been going here for a couple years and I now live about an hour away but still continue to take the drive because its so worth it to go somewhere that is so good at what they do. I tell all my friends and my clients at the hair salon I work at about you lovely ladies!

Got my first bikini wax here. It was super comfortable and the lady was really nice and friendly. The only reason I would be hesitant to go back is the cost.

Best Brazilian I’ve ever had! It was quick (less than 20 minutes) which is always a bonus… plus I left feeling EXTREMELY smooth and my skin felt conditioned, not dry. No stray hairs in sight!
Their Brazilians are about $ 10-​$ 15 more expensive than I usually pay in Chicago, but I don’t mind forking out the extra money here because the quality is worth it!
The only detractor I have, I didn’t deduct stars for because I’m not sure if this has something to do with their services or if there’s some other factor at play… but of all the Brazilians I’ve gotten, I did seem to see hair coming back much more quickly after this one (started coming in after ~1 week when normally I’m good for at least 2, usually 3 weeks).

I got my first Brazilian at Velvet Waxing Studio, and it was a great experience! I was super nervous at first but the staff made me feel comfortable, and at ease. The process was quick, and mostly painless (unlike the «at home» bikini waxes I did myself). All the hair was gone, and I didn’t have to touch up with tweezers or anything! I didn’t have to make a follow up appointment for TWO WHOLE MONTHS!!! I’ve gone to Velvet Waxing Studios two more times after that, and each time the hair grows back, its thinner, and lighter. I will definitely be going back to these guys for ALL my waxing needs! In fact, I’m going this afternoon! Great work ladies!

I got a brazilian wax here, after calling to see if there were any last minute cancellations. One of the pluses of this place is that they open pretty late in the evening. I had recently moved away after discovering one of my favorite places in New York (Uni-​K, a chain with lots of fans), I was looking for a similar place in Madison. This place is ok, but by comparison, the wax was about 20−30% more painful, not as thorough, and the regrowth happened much faster than I was expecting (less than 1 week some growth came back). I felt like there was more hair breakage than complete removal. The service was not bad, but I may try a few other places before coming back. Or maybe I will try a recommended esthetician. For now, I haven’t found a good go-​to place.

Simply the best in Madison. Always greeted with a smile and treated with the utmost professionalism. Highly recommend seeing Tracy for anything and everything.

I have gotten Brazilians in NYC, the Los Angeles area, and the Twin Cities, and this was seriously the best experience I’ve ever had. It was the fastest, which does not necessarily equal good, but it was also the cleanest, least awkward, most comfortable, and most effective waxing I’ve ever had. Pam was great and made me feel at ease through the entire appointment. Combine great service with decent prices (not cheap, but I’ve paid more for less) and cute, clean, unassuming and vintage-​chic surroundings and you have it made! I wish I’d discovered this place before I moved away. I may have to make an occasional trip back to visit Velvet. :)

The staff is very friendly and professional. The place is very clean and welcoming. They were able to get me in right away. Megan did a wonderful job.

Went here to get an underarm wax for my wedding and had a very lovely experience.
Their storefront is unassuming, but the inside is very chic and welcoming. The woman who did my waxing was very kind and professional, although she did make the mistake of assuming I was in for a brow wax (I get it, my eyebrows are fuzzy).
However, all was forgotten with her quick and tidy waxing job, which was relatively painless and actually kind of relaxing. She also gave me a complimentary trim and minor clean-​up tweeze of the aforementioned fuzzy brows so I wouldn’t have to do it myself. Saved me some effort for the big day.
The armpits were smooth and flawless for the big day, with no unpleasantness. It was pretty much everything you could ask for from an armpit wax.

Although I was pretty satisfied with my ‘Velvet’ wax, I paid 50% more than I typically pay for a much more thorough (and painless) wax with my esthetician in New York. Although everything looked fine when I left the studio, I did have to do further clean-​up with a pair of tweezers when I got home. However, for the options in the area, I think that the Velvet estheticians are still some of the best.
It helps that both waxers I have had so far have been friendly and conversational — which always makes dropping my pants in front of a complete stranger a little bit easier.
Too soon?

It’s a bit more pricey than most salons, but you get what you pay for. I’m so anal about my eyebrows, so it was nice to find a place I can trust! I’ve gone to multiple people at VWS, and they’ve all been great. They take their time and listen to what I want. When I felt nervous at first, they were conservative with my wax and then plucked any extra where I saw fit. They’ll really tailor your experience to what you need. I am a regular customer now and will continue going back!
And their online book system is so convenient.

I am very picky about my eyebrows. Velvet can definitely be TRUSTED to do a good job, so when you’re at school don’t be afraid to go to Velvet. That being said, they aren’t nearly as good as my lady at home in Atlanta or the place I go when I am in Chicago (Floyd’s on Milwaukee Ave).
It’s $ 18-​$ 22 for brows plus tip.

The Velvet staff is professional, friendly, and do wonderful work. They make clients feel very comfortable and the environment is warm and clean. They do thorough work and can quickly get you in and out of the salon.
Prices are reasonable – some may find it a bit expensive but this is a case of you get what you pay for! Always a good experience at Velvet!

I’ve been to Velvet twice now and have had a great experience each time. Online booking is super easy and convenient! Brittany is wonderful. She is fast and as painless as waxing can be. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The salon is small but cute. The rooms are small and definitely not sound proof but I didn’t see that as a huge negative. The prices are reasonable, more expensive than a nail salon or other strip mall kind of place, but cheaper than a fancy spa.
I will definitely be returning!

I never considered waxing until I was getting ready for my destination wedding. My first trip to Velvet was terrifying… I was sure it was going to be so awkward and hurt like hell. I had a velvet and underarms done… and it was underwhelming… in a very good way. In fact after my appointment I went home to wax my fiancés back with the microwave stuff from Target (he would kill me if he knew I put this on Unilocal), and after one swipe that nearly ripped his skin off, I insisted that we get right back in the car and go to Velvet… so we did! He was as pleasantly surprised at his experience as I was!
The studio is vintage chic in design, somewhere I would love to sit and lounge and people watch. The staff is so professional, quick, and thoughtful. Nothing was awkward at all and nothing hurt… for real. I now go back before a trip /​vacation and am so happy I found Velvet… I’ve heard horror stories about other waxing experiences so take it from me, go somewhere reputable!
