The problem with going into Zip-Dang is that I want nearly everything. Sassy greeting cards? Gimme. Madison-centric prints? I’ll take one of each. Tobacco cologne? I didn’t expect you to smell so dang good, you can come, too. I just learned owner Mike Bass made the poster for Father John Misty’s most recent show at the Orpheum, so I’m even more into the whole Zip-Dang vibe. Music nerd request: make those gig posters available for purchase! If you’re in need of a quirky gift or something to spice up your own life, this is a great spot to go peruse!

Very original stuff! Especially loved the animals-clad-in-human-clothes portraits, THEYAREAMAZING. What would make this place better… DOUBLETHEINVENTORY!!! Don’t know if that can happen, but a girl can dream… ;)

Very cool little shop that’s located in an otherwise nondescript building along Monroe Street. — Parking. Ugh. But it’s Monroe Street and that’s normal. — Sorta’ limited hours… 12 – 5 on weekends? Hmm. — Pricey. With a capital«P.» I’m talking $ 28 candles and $ 50 plates Those three gripes aside… + Super cool stuff. Love how it’s kitschy, quirky, and über unique + Heavy animal themes — cats, dogs, cows + Heavy local influence + A little bit of everything for everyone and anyone + Friendly staff + Lovely vibe/feel to the place If you’re looking for some awesome greeting cards, or some quirky magnets, or a cool t-shirt, or a super sweet smelling candle, or some super unique artwork(you get the idea), this is your place. They even have some jewelry and other clothing items. 5-stars because cool, unique stuff doesn’t come cheap, and you don’t find it in mainstream locations. :-)

Always changing, stellar collection of locally made gifts. Their nod to things like the lakes and DCFM is lovely, and the recent addition of a whole line of drink here beer glasses and prints and shirts is pretty stellar. Haven’t found any clothing that clicks with be, but there are so many other great gems, including cards, candles, and I’m sure other things that start with C. ;)

Zip-Dang is such a unique store full of awesomeness! From beautiful skirts and clothing, to cool art and jewelry and much more! The owner is super nice and you can tell she has a passion for what she does. I’m so glad there are still independently-owned stores like this around, and everyone should visit Zip-Dang!

This place just opened up on Monroe St. and it’s one of the most unique boutiques in Madison. Primarily the focus is the own shops line of women’s clothing called OrangyPorangy, which you may have seen at the Farmer’s Market, but they also have some unique and often hand-made household goods, vintage eyewear, men’s button up shirts and… other random goods. The store is gorgeous inside and the owners are really friendly. It might be a little far away from the heaviest foot traffic area of Monroe but it’s definitely worth heading down. Myself, I plan on picking up some new pillows there some time this week
