We moved from the Wichita area several years ago but always make it a point to visit Nancy A-Maze-N-Sandwiches. True, the décor is plain, but the staff is so accommodating and the food is excellent! My sister loves the Purple Turkey, which I would love to try, but I love the Twisted Sestor too much! My last visit, we cut timing so close that we called ahead and the sandwiches were made and ready for us when we got there. Love their unique menu, staff, and the town itself, but going with my sister is what makes it great!

What is amazing is that this place is actually still open. The sandwiches were NOT very good and the soup is something you buy out of a can. The service and people were friendly. Not very clean in there either.

I would not come back to this dirty sandwich shop. I will drive on by. I stuck to the table, I would like to see the kitchen but the front was so dirty I will not be back

Food was terrific. The group of old people was very annoying. They all talked loud because they couldn’t hear.

Absolutely great food. Only down side is wait staff don’t palm my drink. Instead grab at the base.

I love going here. Nancy is friendly and funny, her menu is packed with odd combos that don’t make sense until you take a bite. Haven’t had a bad bite of food here.

Went to this place after many people said how amazing it was(pun intended I suppose). I ordered two of the specials. One being a chicken fried steak sandwich and the other an order of chicken and the other chicken and dumplings. Both were bland and flavorless. The sandwich basically tasted like the grease it was fried in and that’s it. The dumplings simply tasted like flour. Overall, nothing special or amazing.

Great sandwich! I had the«Purple Turkey» which was a shredded turkey with bacon strips, carmelized onions and JELLY, yes, jelly! I wanted something different. Thats just what I got! It was uncommonly GOOD! Friendly service made first timer like me feel very welcome.

Loved the sandwiches there! Nancy #8 and creamy chicken salad sandwich were so good! Fries is yummy too and seems to be homemade. The exterior may scare you off but the food is worth it!

Great little hole in the wall. Has an old fashioned diner feel. The restaurant was clean and the sandwiches were unique and tasty. I believe my sandwich was called the Seeter, corner beef, bacon, cream cheese, Swiss, and jalepenos on a six inch grilled hoagie. Fantastic! Service was prompt and crazy friendly. I’ll be back.

Great greasy spoon spot for breakfast. The help was a little«str-ug-ul-ling», but grub/portions was spot-freaking on. Check out the«Big Mama», almost beats driving drive to the«East side» for the slop.(riverside café).

I’m sure the sandwiches here are just fine but, honestly, I’ve never eaten one here.(I’m sure they’re every bit as good as those at The Artichoke.) We always go for the breakfast. Sizable portions and delicious all the way around. In my opinion, they should remove the word«sandwiches» from their name and replace it with«breakfast». As for the service, this is a small town restaurant with a strong café feel. Everyone is nice enough. No one has ever been rude. My order has been perfect every time and we’ve never been disappointed. If you’re looking for a waiter or waitress to act like they’re your BFF, then maybe you should go to Yia Yia’s or Chile’s. This place is about the food, and the one thing they DID get right in their name is the word«A-Maize-N. We’ll definitely be back… again and again.

Pretty good sandwiches, I enjoy the twisted seester. The service is decent, but could be friendlier I suppose. Been there a couple times when they’ve felt understaffed and the wait was a little irritating. Overall an okay place to eat with good prices.

I suspected foul play when I looked at the menu of Nancy’s and realized it’s the spitting image of The Artichoke, but real life is not a Hardy Boys paperback, and it turns out the two restaurants are related. Why Nancy’s felt they needed to base their menu on The Artichoke’s(or vice-versa, whichever the case may be), I don’t know. While the ‘Choke is a dive bar that serves pretty good sandwiches out a pretty small kitchen, Nancy’s doesn’t have the same appeal, and while the latter also has a very small bar and serves alcohol, it’s more of the backwoods type of place you expect to find on your way to somewhere better. There’s little need to visit the Maize location if you live anywhere close to the one in Wichita, as it has the better atmosphere and the benefit of not being all the way the hell out there in Maize. If you do happen to live in Maize, however, Nancy’s is quite the local hangout, and I think their sandwiches — no matter how A-Maize-N they claim to be — are actually second fiddle to their daily specials, in which they seem to find their creativity and a means to set them apart from their dive bar brethren.

Dear Nancy– When I discovered your restaurant I was so excited! I actually returned two times that week to satisfy my PURPLETURKEY craving. Since then I have also tried other things and although not as good as the PURPLETURKEY, still pretty darn good. Neat, small-town, family owned feel. Highly recomend for a fun lunch destination! Can’t wait to try the breakfast, the menu looks amazing!

It’s just OK. Not that great. I hear the sandwiches on here are like the ones at the Artichoke in Wichita. Well, I have to say I prefer the Artichoke! I ate at this place twice, and was not impressed with the food either time. I also felt that for the price I didn’t get a very big sandwich. I do have an issue that I saw both times I went to Nancy’s… The plastic gloves people wear in the kitchens are supposed to be so the customers know their food is being prepared with clean hands. I thought. So why do the people wearing these gloves still have them on when they wander over to the storage locker or whatever, and get out their purse, and rummage through it? And then went back to the kitchen with the same pair of gloves! Same for leaving them on when you use the register/handle money, which is really dirty, folks! Doesn’t sound very sanitary to me. Blech… there’s better places to get sandwiches in Maize than here. Drive a little farther north and there’s Wild Thyme and Subway. Either one is better, in my opinion.
