This is a very small visitor’s center near the entrance, and it closes early. Not sure why they have this one here since there’s another one just below the summit at a view point. There is no viewpoint at this one. But they do have bathrooms, and a small gift shop, and rangers you can talk to.

The view at the top of Mr. Haleakala is amazing and shouldn’t be missed. The Visitor Center is small with some displays explaining the crater. The rangers are very helpful too. Limited souvenirs can be purchased as well.

If you are visiting Maui you HAVETO come watch the sunrise from Haleakala! It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and I’m not someone who raves about outdoor scenery. There are several levels of parking which start to fill from the top down so if you want to be able to park at the very top make sure you start to head up there early! Like a** crack of dawn early aka 3am. The first time I went up we left at 3am and made it to the top where we parked and took a nap until sunrise. The second time I went up we left around 4:30am and were a few lots down. The view is still incredible but its so much better at the top!

Super friendly rangers, eager to chat about the sites and Mt Haleakala. Mt. Haleakala is such a beautiful place, I’m hoping that they are able to maintain the natural beauty amongst all the hundreds of tourists that visit each day.
