I’ve been coming here longer than I can remember. They used to give a free sub roll out to kids. Judging by the open bag I always see behind the register, they probably still do. This is THE place for sub rolls at $ 1.50 — $ 3.00/bag. You seriously can’t go wrong for that. They make them in the building, but I think they’re frozen before they’re sold. Whatever, at that price, it doesn’t matter. They always taste super fresh when I get home. This is an «outlet» type location, so they don’t always have everything, but there is usually a decent selection. The racks to the right when you enter are end of the day/day olds — HALFPRICE! I always buy from there if I can, it’s still delicious for sandwiches. Most important detail — CASHONLY. No credit, no debit, no ATM. Be prepared!

Jitto’s Super Steak and Pizzaria on Route 1 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire has the best cheesesteaks outside Philadelphia! There’s nothing like it that I know of in Maine where I live. One of the key ingrediants in any good cheesesteak is the roll and I just found out Jitto’s great rolls are from Piantedosi’s! How about 4 ½ stars?

its Bread… Thats all, Nothing Fancy, Not too complicated, BREAD… Its actually the warehouse Wholesale Store… and it looks just as you would expect… They have all things Bread… Rolls, bagels, Wraps, Buns,(Im trying to think of more ways to say BREAD)… THEYDONTTAKETHECARD, and this weekend I found that out… As I struggle to carry all my BREAD to the counter & lay it all out — The Cashier tells me they dont accept the card, I have $ 5 on me… and I have like $ 11 worth of items, well the other little woman there(Mgr) sees my dilemma & starts going to town on the Cash Register & then tells me I gave you the Business Discount and I was able to continue with all I had for $ 5… That made me love them even more… They are a great place if you need — Yeah you guessed it. BREAD! And they close early…

If you grew up anywhere near this town, your family bought bread from this place. We used to get sweet bread here all the time. Still going at it strong — after all these years — and still making decent bread. They also sell spreads which are quite decent: they make an olive one — and if you like olives — WOW — this is for YOU.

The highlight of this place is watching the rolls move along the conveyor belts above your head. Mostly sub rolls at a discounted price, but not bad if your in the neighborhood. My Mom used to make a stop here after buying cold cuts down the road at Rosebud Farms. The best part of going here with her when I was a kid was that they would give me a free roll to munch on. Mmmm free starch, I’ll take that any day!

Good decent bread, but if you are looking for a traditional crusty French baguette or similar you will not find it here.

I have to agree with Paulettes review that this is not the place to go for crusty bread(who would want to?) There is nothing better than a warm soft roll… Piantedosi’s has the finest bread products anywhere. If you have ever had a sub any where in New England and beyond you most likely have had a Piantedosi roll. having been a lifelong Maldonian I take great pride when I am on vacation somewhere and I stop for a quick sandwich and see that brown bag full of rolls behind the counter, I know that I am guaranteed that at least the outside of the sub will be good. And if you are in the area of Piantedosi’s you can’t beat the prices at the outlet.

Piantedosi’s have a local retail outlet that you can buy their bread directly. Before I continue I must acknowledge that when I was growing up my family had a bakery so I tend to be very picky about breads and pastry. If you are looking for Italian bread this is the place to go. If you are looking for true crusty French bread and know the difference you won’t find it here.
