My husband and kids love all the food here. So it makes life easy. I love the steak tips.

So before you order from this place you should know about something that they don’t bother telling you and it’s pretty important: they DONOT put things on the side at all. It costs extra to get things on the side but when calling for delivery it’s never mentioned. As of tonight ¾/16 I ordered a steak tip dinner with double onion rings and a large Cesar salad. So, The steak dinner I ordered seemed to be appealing until I realized they put the marinated tips on top of the onion rings leaving them to be complete mush and obviously inedible completely, so I call and tell them my issue and ask the lady on the phone(who is extremely unpleasant I may add) that doesn’t she think someone should have informed me about how they put the steak tips on top of onion rings? And she said ‘it costs extra and also that she apparently ‘just told me that’ okay. Well this was after I received my order so don’t you think it’s a little late for that? The passive aggressiveness wasn’t really needed. So she tells me all we can do is send over new onion rings and I was completely fine with that because it was resolving the issue. They do not give me a time or ask for my number or anything. I get a call maybe 40 minutes later saying the manager is outside and had been knocking for apparently ten minutes, strange because I heard nothing and ironically enough the delivery boy from earlier went to the wrong house. So I open the door to a man(apparently the manager) and he greets me with ‘I’ve been knocking and ringing your doorbell for 15 minutes’ then pretty much throws a side of onion rings into my hands and walks away saying ‘yea thanks whatever you’re welcome’ as he’s walking out my door. So what id like to know is why did they send a manager if he was going to be so rude and not even talk to me or apologize about this issue? He literally gave me not one second to try and talk or say anything and rudely came and rudely left. Safe to say I’m all set with this place that doesn’t even take your phone number and clearly wants me to wait around for them all night to get the onion rings they messed up. Ridiculous. They also put dressing on the salads which is disgusting. They ask you nothing specific, they don’t care to take your number and apparently you have to wait around for them to come when every other normal place I’ve ordered from calls you when they’re here especially if you live on a dead end street like mine. They don’t care to tell you that you need to ask for things to be put on the side in order for the food not to be ruined, soggy and inedible. I’ll be adding pictures of the wet soggy onion rings.

Incredible beefs. Steak tips are top 5 anywhere and big george is the balls. They have great dressing. The service has been better since Anthony left. This is my go to spot whenever I’m in Malden. Definitely earned their best roast beef award.

So this place used to be the center of the universe for my friends and I growing up in Malden. Open late, great sub-shop food, amazing prices: what more could you ask for? What happened? The service got lazy, the quality of food got horrible and the portions are ‘whatever the person making it feels like.’ It’s quite frustrating, one of my favorite things here was the fish and chips, along with a simple cheeseburger. The fish and chips now is soggy and mushy; no more crisp, no more flavor. The burger literally has cartilage and bone when I bite into it and start to chew, horrible. How is that passible for a dog let alone a human? I’m truly disappointed, my family and I stopped ordering from there, friends stopped going there. The place is literally empty now when I drive by Maplewood square. Your previous methods of business seem to make the most sense, I get it, things get expensive! But when you sacrifice quality for money, you will sacrifice customers with it.

GUYS, WHATHAPPENED?! This place used to be great, but something changed. Last few times the roast beef sandwiches came on stale rolls. But tonight, it was all around terrible. The sauce smells… off. The roast beef is bland, churned up material similar to pink sawdust. The last straw was a hair in the middle of my sandwich. Like, c’mon.

Steak tips are AMAZING… For a fast food spot– you will not find tastier steak tips in this part of Malden(haven’t tried all locations, but you get what I am saying)… I order take out/delivery about 2 times every 3 weeks and I do not have many complaints. In store service is good, friendly and fast/food deliverers are always good and prompt(living close is a plus) I can’t say I have had everything on the menu, but the steak tips salads and dinners do it for me. I’m going to make it a priority to try the roast beef on my next order… Possible improvements — upgrade tables and booths.

Just ordered a chicken parm sub toasted with mayo and pickles Yum! NORMALLY I order it and is Delicious but tonight I was starving and I ordered it and it came looking all kinda funky.. I believe they used chicken thigh meat and tried to pass it off as breastcutlets wtf! Who does that! the texture was off big time and the meat was so huge it completely engulfed the bread. Me being so hungry I just ate it but now I kno that they are passing off chicken thigh meat instead of breast. Make sure u ask for breast cutlets when u order.

I have used Steve’s before. Food is so-so to bad depending on what you order. The service is really bad. I think it’s do to the owner in my opinion. It seems like he hates people in general and his customers even more so =). If it’s late night and you need food in Maplewood Square, they are open latest. So, two stars for that I guess.

All I can say is I have eaten here about 5 times and 4 out of those 5 times, I got sick… Ya sick. Needed alca selzer all that so ya all I can say is not much of A fan !!! DONOT order that Turkey panini they put it in the microwave with the cranberry sauce HOT … GROSS

So, I have decided to no longer patronize Steve’s Roast Beef, which sucks because I actually like their food. I called a few weeks ago to order a club sandwich and Ialmost had a heart attack when I asked to substitute regular fries for sweet potato fries. First the woman who answered told me that she could not do it all, which was odd to me because I have been doing this for years, then she told me that making the swap would cost me $ 4. Are you kidding me??? She gave me some sad story about the price the owner pays for them and yada yada yada. Considering both types cost the same on the menu, this is obviously some ridiculous lie. This type of price gouging is enough to turn my stomach and keep me away from here forever.

I stopped by here and ordered«cookie dough bites» for my son. When they came, they were liquidy and kind of gross and definitely not appropriate for a baby, so I took them back and asked for a kid’s cheeseburger instead. They were very kind and classy in allowing me to do so. The cheeseburger was great.

My friends and I order delivery from here once in a while when we are drunk. They deliver until 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays which is PERFECT. The food is cheap and pretty good. A large cheese pizza costs less than $ 10. It’s thin, greasy, cheesy, and the sauce is good. The waffle fries with cheese and bacon were really good too! They also put the cheese/bacon sauce in a cup on the side so the fries didn’t get soggy.

They always screw up Your order. Especially the older woman that works there. If you want your order right it’s best to go order in person. I’ve overlooked A lot of mistakes they have made and this past Thursday was the straw that broke The camels back. They are not getting money anymore

I went middle of the road(3 stars) with Steve’s because I would like to try something else from there and since I have only had one experience, albeit a BAD one, I am willing to give them a second chance sometime down the road. Maybe my review will be updated later on. For better or worse is yet to be determined. Now, let me start with the one and only so far… Ordered Wing Dings last night for dinner. I love those little crunchy things so I was excited to see this delivery place had them. I ordered HONEYBBQ. Not BUFFALO, not HOT, not CHILE, not Tobasco, not SPICY. Now can anyone tell me why the HONEYBBQ wings were so spicy that I had to spit them out after one bight and then throw them away? ONWHATPLANET is HONEYBBQSPICY!!! It should be SWEET! My mouth was on FIRE. I didn’t even ask if they were spicy because WHO would expect HONEYBBQ to be THAT spicy??? Needless to say, I was really angry last night that my dinner had to go in the trash and I really think that Steve’s needs to change the name of their Honey BBQ Sauce. How does Burn-your-mouth-it’s-nothing-like-honey BBQ Sauce sound?

I only order delivery. I’m a big roast beef fan and unfortunately Steve’s is the only place near me that delivers roast beef that is of at least average quality. Steve’s roast beef is maybe slightly better than average but nothing spectacular. I’ve only eaten a few other things off of their menu and it’s more of the same: average to slightly above average food. It’s either the girl or the guy who answers the phone. The girl is kind of mean with little patience and forgets my extra cup of sauce on the side ~60% of the time. The guy always seems to get my order right and is much nicer. Due to a lack of roast beef restaurant competition in my area, I’m sad to say that I’ve ordered from here more than 15 times and will continue to do so until I can find someone better.

ZEROSTARSZEROSTARSZEROSTARS! Well, I haven’t written a Unilocal review in a good long while. I’ve got a text file on my desktop filled with reviews that I always planned on posting but somehow never got around to, & I’ve been typing up some new ones recently as well. I think Steve’s deserves the distinction of being such an awful experience, that it finally pushed me to start posting my reviews again. Hooray, I suppose? Anyway, I had decided to order from them after viewing their rather humorous(though I’m betting it’s unintentional) website & wanting to support a local business. After seeing their good reviews, I figured they would be a safe bet. The order was taken without any problems. They said it’d be around 45 minutes. It came in closer to 30, so I guess you could say they are relatively speedy. Delivery guy was also nice. The problems started once he left… You see, we ordered a buffalo chicken sub, a small order of fried mushrooms, a large order of buffalo fries, & a slice of tiramisu. I took the food out of the bags. Okay… let’s see… there’s the tiramisu. Two cups of ranch. A big, dripping, wrapped sub, presumably of the buffalo chicken style. NOFRIESINSIGHT! & the small order of mushrooms? Yeah, that was $ 4.75. How many mushrooms did we get? NINE! Totally not joking. I almost wanted to check the bottom of the bag & see if maybe there was a huge hole that the mushrooms & fries could have fallen out of. But there wasn’t. I realize it’s a small size order, but nine frickin’ fried mushrooms for nearly five bucks is disgustingly overpriced — especially after reading multiple brags about«large portions» on their website. That small of a small should be like 3.50 at most… I’ve never had a problem with getting the small size at other establishments, there’s always been plenty to share. But this was pretty sad. Okay, well, let’s call them back & let them know our fries are missing. The guy on the phone says he didn’t hear when we ordered them(really??), but he’ll send some over(alrighty then). So we have a small disappointment, but good customer service. I felt a little better. No problem, right? Sometimes mistakes happen. We can just eat the buffalo sub until it gets he– HOLYGODWHATISTHIS. I unwrapped the sub, & it’s COMPLETELYWRONG. It’s not even chicken! It’s some shaved steak… thing… nothing but shaved steak. There doesn’t appear to be any cheese, condiments, or veggies… how do you confuse buffalo chicken with this? They even asked on the phone if we wanted the chicken fingers or the chicken kebobs! SHAVEDSTEAK =/= CHICKENFINGERS! Don’t try to fool me! Maybe I should have inspected the sub before we called about the fries, but I guess I put too much trust in them. Frustrated, we called back, not even three minutes later, & told them we got the wrong sub. They said they’d fix that, too. Ugh. So here I sit, still hungry after a handful of mushrooms, wondering if I should just eat my damn tiramisu now instead of bothering to save it for dessert. Aw hell, I’ll go ahead & take a bite so I can tell you guys if I liked it. *grabs fork & opens plastic container* Not real tiramisu. However, it doesn’t taste horrible. But a small slice of tiramisu & a handful of mushrooms is not a dinner, folks! Anyway, the second delivery guy came with the buffalo fries & sub… he wanted to make sure we weren’t screwin’ around or whatever, so we showed him the sub. He said oh, that’s a cheesesteak(really? I could’ve sworn cheesesteaks have, you know, CHEESE on them). He was nice too, as well as apologetic. We took the bag & got ready to eat our dinner, finally. We opened the bag. The sub was correct, thankfully. However, it was also very underwhelming. Slightly stale bread with four or five tiny-sized buffalo chicken fingers shoved inside. No ranch, no lettuce. Nothing. Which is good if you’re just looking for a straightforward sub, I guess. But I was not impressed. As far as the buffalo fries… they just gave us normal fries. & we had ordered a large, but they gave us a small. So yet again, it was wrong. But ya know what? Screw it. I’m not gonna make them come all the way back out here a third time. I’m just gonna post a review & make a mental note to never order from them again. I took photos of the mushrooms, tiramisu, & subs. It’s a damn shame this place sucked so hard. If you want to support a local sub/pizza shop in the Malden/Melrose/Medford area, they’re pretty much a dime a dozen in these parts. So just pick somebody else, ANYbody else. D: I’ll never trust another man named Steve again!

Reasons I Love Steve’s Roast Beef: 1. They’re open until 2am on Friday’s and Saturday’s and the employees are super nice to my drunk friends and I. But seriously, 2AM. AWESOME. 2. During one of this past winter’s blizzards, I called on a whim seeing if they’d deliver, not expecting a yes whatsoever. Well, not only did they deliver, but they somehow made it up the hill of death that I live on, when I had offered to meet them at the bottom of the hill when they got here. Talk about service! 3. The food is awesome. Waffle fries with nacho cheese and steak and cheese with mayo on the side, ILU boo! Steve’s is the best, and that’s all I have to say.
