Really good dim sum place! I eat lots of dim sums, here is the best. Not everything is good(for example I don’t like clams) but overall is the best. Best food on right price. Four star is because too many people come here so it’s crowded, and the service is so so.

Regarding the tastes, I think this dim sum place is similar to other dim sum restaurants in Chinatown. This place has 2 small parking lots. People can easily find street parking as well. It’s pretty busy at Sunday noon, so be prepared to get a number and wait. The service is ok and it really depends on who you deal with. The price is reasonable too.

I think this is the best dim sum place I ever had. The quality is very good and the price is reasonable. I love it here.

This place truly deserves more than 3.5 stars. They have one of the best dim sum I have had in Boston and trust me, I have had a lot. I think the reason is because all their customers are old chinese uncles and aunties that doesn’t know what Unilocal is. I don’t think they even know what facebook is. But trust me, if you see a chinese restaurant full of old chinese people, it’s good. However, they have super oily fried noodle.

Sunkong is deff the go to pace for Chinese food around the Malden area. It’s just like going into China town but without having to travel into the city. My family has come for the dim som in the morning and dinner at night. The dim som is a reasonable price and the food is made fresh and delicious. When we order lunch or dinner we usually order the spicy salted pork chops and salted spicy squid. It’s always hot, crunchy on the out side and soft on the inside. Anyone would like it and can eat it. We also order the mayonnaise honey walnut shrimp topped over broccoli. The kids love that dish… sweet but not to sweet. The Chinese watercress stir fried in garlic sauce is also great to order for a side of vegetables. When it’s a special occasion my man and I like to order the deep fried flounder served with sweet soy sauce or the stir fried lobster. I could list so many things but these were some Of our favorites. If you like some of the foods I’ve listed I would definitely recommend for you to go and try it out. It’s a great place to go out with the family or even for a dinner date. Just be patient because sometime it can get busy and you can see why once you’ve experienced it yourself.

Stopped by for some quick dimsum and it wasn’t too bad of a wait on a Saturday morning. The food was good, no complaints. If you don’t see something that you normally eat(fried dough wrapped in rice noodle, for example), don’t hesitate to ask the staff, some items are made to order. Dessert’s not a big deal to me but I think that’s definitely something you would have to ask about(they don’t bring any around at all). I just happened to be sitting in the back next to where they stationed the sweet tofu dessert.

This Chinese restaurant has been around for quite a while but unlike some older joints it still has kept up with some of the newer places in Malden. The cocktail menu is really excellent, lots of tropical drinks and other traditional cocktails. Part of the fun of coming here is not for the food but for trying out different drinks. The food is all tasty but is often fried and heavy. I recommend getting a few lighter dishes like some stir-fried vegetables to offset some of the heavier menu items. Like most Chinese restaurants the portion sizes are good and the prices are reasonable. Seems from the reviews that the dim sum is good though I’ve never tried it. I’ll have to make a special trip to try that out at some point.

A bit far to travel from Boston for dim sum but well worth it! Came right around 10am which is pretty early for dim sum but this place was packed! Seems like everyone knows to come early to beat the rush! The food is authentic and good sized. Be sure to get the pineapple shaped custard buns fresh out of the oven!

If you’re on the North Side of Chinatown(93 that is) then you might want to try this place out – especially for Dim Sum. As others have noted, there is a wait so arriving early or dressing accordingly(you maybe waiting outside) is perhaps in the cards. The dimsum is hot from the kitchen-lots of choices: beef ribs, pork ribs, chicken feet, pork stomach(like tripe), many dumplings, many baked goods, cold tofu with sweet sauce(a thousand pardons to any native speakers). It’s crowded inside. You can reduce your wait by sharing a table. It’s good.

I’ve been coming to this location for years and it still stands as my favorite dim sum restaurant. One of the main reasons why I come here is for their«lo sah bao». It’s a pretty much a pineapple bun with runny egg yolk filling inside — it is PERFECT right when it comes out of the oven. I swear to god everybody should order this at least once when they come here. It’s probably the best one I ever had. I don’t think other restaurants serve this kind of bun, which is kind of a disappointment because I always crave for it. This restaurant isn’t T accessible, so you can only get here by car. I think I saw some buses running but I’m not too sure because I’m not from Malden. Sun Kong is kind of out of the way for me so I come here whenever I am in the area. Their parking lot is always full, but there is a huge lot across the street. There is almost always a wait when I come here, but it’s no longer than 15 minutes long because the hostess is very accommodating and very efficient. Sometimes you’ll be asked to share tables if you dont want to wait that long. Always a good option if you just really care about eating. In terms of other dim sum plates, all are very good and tasty. Often than not, I run across dim sum restaurants that have really bland food that tastes like microwavable food. Sun Kong is always on point with their dim sum with great service too. The only thing I wish for is that they could expand their restaurant :) Otherwise I highly recommend this place

Poor service. The people here are not helpful. If you want to pack something up, they’ll just put boxes and bag on your table and leave. Most of other dim sum restaurants won’t do that. They’ll pack it up for you. The people here seem to check the tip right after you sign. I saw them yelled at an American just because he gave less tips. After all, they don’t deserve high tips because they don’t provide good services. If you want to enjoy an «amazing» service, give it a try.

One of the better dim sum place I’ve been to in the Boston area. The wait is usually a bit long(40+ minutes) if you come any time before 1:30PM, so be prepared for that as a lady just calls your number and if you don’t hear it then she’ll give your table away! Because of the long wait, there are hoards of people standing in the entryway which can be a bit overwhelming. The food here is pretty good and the wait staff is pretty standard with any chinese restaurant(so not the best by American standards.) I mostly enjoy this place because of the carts full of yummy food(some of which I haven’t even seen before coming here!) that bring me back to dim sum when I was younger.

It’s good dim sum for the area and is better than half the joints in Chinatown. The wait though is just terrible. All aspects from waiting to get a seat, the area that people wait, to the wait of the food. When you come in, there’s not much order in how you get a seat and for those that don’t speak Chinese it can be even more difficult. Once you get on the wait list, which can be for an hour or more everyone huddles inside the entrance blocking the way from people getting out to even the food carts moving around. It’s probably going to be worse in cold weather as everyone is trying to stay inside so maybe if you hate waiting, try coming here in the summer. Because everyone is crowding around it makes it difficult for food carts to move around the area thus making the food arrive slower. All in all though, I do enjoy it as its located near where I grew up and is a nice break from Chinatown or Quincy.

Oh man, my relationship with Sun Kong is usually dependent on my level of self destruction and ability to party. Let’s face it is, it’s as basic mediocre Mandarin food you’ll get; however it isn’t really for the food you come here. Though their dumplings are pretty amazing… and greasy. You really come for the insanely underpriced liquor and karaōke. I mean a lot of liquor, heavily poured and ready to get you messed up. This is a place where you can literally sink in a few bucks, get trashed, sing your heart out and feel the non-judgmental eyes of malden’s greatest party animals on you. It is insanely trashy and yet oddly addicting when you’re in a large group of friends. My biggest issue is naturally the parking is a complete mess on the weekends and well the place itself gets really dirty. Want an embarrassing memorable night? Check it out, but this isn’t something you should do often! I can’t imagine your liver would mind it, but your eardrums might be better off.

A great place for our large family to gather on a Saturday or Sunday for dim sum. Most of us live north of Boston, so this place is much more convenient than going into Chinatown. And even though parking can be a bit tricky not nearly as tough as in town. We usually have to wait to be seated but it’s never exceeded 20 minutes. The food comes around at a good pace and there is something for everyone. We have a few vegetarians and vegans in our clan but everyone leaves satisfied and happy. We love Sun Kong!

I didn’t know what to expect from Malden dim sum. It had all of the dim sum staples, but some of the less popular items(tripe and chicken feet) seemed a little stale.

All dim sum is pretty similar so there’s not much for me to describe. However the quality of food here does seem to be better than average. My favorite dish is always the shrimp noodle crepes. The siu mai here is the only dish in particular that I thought was different from other restaurants– hard to explain but I liked it more. Service was alright. I would recommend a number system. A family came in after us and moved towards the middle because it was cold by the door. They got seated before us after we waited quite a while and they had just got there. It wasn’t worth saying anything to the staff, but it would be nice to have some kind of structure.

+better dim sum vs. the city! + fast service, lots of carts roll around + cheap! — parking is difficult Came here on the weekend for some dim sum-liciousness with a group of around 7 people and even though we had to wait about 15−20mins, it all went by pretty quickly. They had plenty of carts going around with all the standard favorites and if anything was missing, you could always request it! Even though we were all stuffed silly, it was still only around $ 11/pp which was great compared to the prices in Boston. The only trouble we had was finding parking during peak hours! They’ve got a small parking lot to the side, but it’s in a residential area so a lot of people just parks on the side streets as well.

Pretty good Chinese food, still ain’t got nuttin on Flushing though. Parents wanted Chinese food so I took them here – it was fairly busy for a weeknight which is always good. We didn’t know what to order so we based most of our choices off what the people around us were eating. Ended up getting some beef on veggies, lobster Canto style, and this salted fish and tofu clay pot. The beef and veggies and lobster were good. Typical saucy, greasy goodness that you get from these family style Chinese restaurants. The lobster came w/2 which was a bit much for 3 people and 3 dishes and was pretty pricey. NOT a fan of the salted fish clay pot but that might just be me. Waaaaaay overpowering salty flavor and really really fishy even with a ton of rice. Not my thing – we barely ate any of it and took it home to recook. Probably won’t be back here. It wasn’t bad but I’d rather stick to something simpler in the area and get really tasty Chinese back in Queens.

I don’t come here often, as it’s out-of-the-way, but when I do, I’ve generally had a good experience. It’s great for those in the North Shore to get authentic southern Chinese food without having to struggle to get parking in Chinatown. The pei pa tofu(fried stuffed tofu) is pretty good here, with a sauce that isn’t too thick. The fried chicken is passable, though not fantastic. It’s reasonably crispy but suffers from a dry chicken breast. The clams in black bean sauce is flavorful and spicy. The ginger scallion pan-fried lobster is a mixed bag, where I’ve had good orders and not so good(overcooked, lacking in any lobster meat). For the most part, the Cantonese entrees here are authentic. The dim sum is decent as I enjoyed most of the items chosen. The har gao and siu mai are pretty good for around here. I didn’t have that overly stuffed feeling after my experiences with dim sum here. The parking lots are small, so you’ll probably have to resort to street parking or nearby lots.
