This review is for take out, since it was my first time to the restaurant. I ordered spicy hot pot with rice, drink and some barbecue. My husband and I were waiting for about 15 minutes which was reasonable since it was busy in the store, and the server was nice too. But once we got home and open the bag, there’s no rice and drinks. The spicy hot pot was fine, but barbecue was very chewy once it was cold. I’m definitely willing to give it a try again, but I won’t do take out for sure.

The food was really tasty and came out pretty quickly. Service was attentive: I tend to drink a lot of water and I’m always pleased when I don’t have to struggle to get the waiter attention. I am not giving it a 4 star because I thought that the vegetables skewers(while delicious) were done with a lot of oil(I think they could scale it back a little) and the drinks were bottled(I ordered black tea expecting a teapot.).

Pretty good spot. The place is definitely hip with its decorations and the service is really good! I think that the food can be over salted but it may be that I just don’t know Chinese bbq. Regardless, for a random date or just to hang with friends they are pretty good. Also, some in our group in halal, had nut allergies, or other diet restrictions. Their menu does not offer halal but it was varied enough that those friends had plenty of seafood to choose from and they were able to accommodate the dish for the nut allergic friend. Love them for that. 4 stars only because I’m not crazy about the over salting; everything was really great.

I actually just finished up my first meal and Wow BBQ and it was awesome. Everything was delicious and was flavored to perfection. The Eggplant is a must try! The service was good and our food came out very quickly. We will be coming here for frequently! They have a food truck too so I will be checking that out too!

Nice vibe in the place, different but delicious recipe, good service concept, simple but very interesting. Ordered a few times. If you will dinner-in make sure you will not have any order plans for the night or the food smell in your clothing will make you noticeable. If you taking home, make sure to eat while is hot, saving for next day and warming up again may not taste delicious as the day before. Me and my kids love the broccoli on-the-stick. My customer service experience was top-notch.

WOW! It was pretty bad. Went last week after seeing a lot of positive Unilocal reviews. Please note that most of the recent positive reviewers only have one review, so that makes them A little suspect – that they are friends/relatives of the owners or staff. First, the restaurant location used to be a bar for decades and the smell of old cigarette tars is extremely unpleasant. Secondly, the food is just barely fair. I don’t understand why, if it is barbecue, that they do a flash fry of a lot of the meat before serving. Plus, there is a lot of much more delicious cumin lamb to be found in other Chinese restaurants. Didn’t like the quality or skill level. My meal partner expressed regret at eating the food, which is so rare. I won’t be going back.

Best BBQ in Boston. So love their spicy crab. I always enjoy here and bring my friends here. The best thing is I can drink beer with my friend like I was in China. Kk

The most authentic Chinese BBQ I’ve ever had in Boston. It reminds me of street food I had in China when I was little. The grilled fish and lamb skewers are my favorite. The environment is very nice; the decoration is kinda interesting. The service is also very good, much better than those well established Chinese restaurants in Chinatown(if you’ve ever been there, you know what I mean).

The food was great. Everything was well-seasoned and even. The crab was my favorite. If you’re craving Szechuan, you should definitely come here. The skewers were pretty good. They come in a bunch deal 3 for $ 5 and so on which makes it better to order. The service was fast, clean, and they even take reservations. Easy parking. Friendly staff that can recommend you a complete well rounded meal.

Food at the restaurant was not as good and fresh as what I buy at the food truck in China Town and disappointing. Skewers were not warm, seemed they were cooked long time ago. Not much spice was on the skewers(vegetables, mushroom, lamb) :(

Wanted to try a new place in Malden and came across wow barbecue. We walked in and waited a few minutes to be seated, the owner(the only one not in he red uniform) needs to work on her attitude if she wants to get customers to return. No smile, no greeting whatsoever, if it weren’t for her attitude I would’ve probably gave this place a 3.5. For the food, I thought that the veggie skewers tasted better than the meat skewers. The lamb skewers, which I had high hopes for turned out really dry. Chicken and beef tasted better. We also ordered the chili pot, You don’t get to choose what to add but they have a good mix of everything in there, I will love it more if it weren’t so salty. We were a party of 4 and the bill for each person was about $ 25, it is pretty expensive compared to other Asian restaurants. We took some leftovers with us tho.

I came here with 3 other friends using the $ 40 for $ 80 groupon. We all love the Wow Bbq food truck in Chinatown and hoping this place would be a replicate of that food truck, though we soon found out that it isn’t exactly the same. They definitely offer a bigger selection of items on their menu, from bacon, quail eggs, lamb, beef, various vegetable skewers, there are a lot more to choose from. Prices are about the same as the food truck. The skewers however, isn’t as hot and fresh nor tasty as the food truck. All the skewers we got lacked flavor, they weren’t as tasty, and definitely lacked seasoning, there isnt as much cumin on them. This was quite disappointing given that we came here for authentic 羊肉串(lamb skewers) that we had as kids in china. We also ordered the 4 person hotpot, which turned out to be mostly filler vegetables tuat didnt work well in hotpot context, 90% of it was potatoes, lotus root, mushrooms, and brocoli, there were barely any meat in this $ 35 order, very disappointing. Though for $ 40 for $ 80, it was still a good deal, but I would never pay full price for the quality of this place.
