I like the library [with its awesome children’s area] very much, but I’m writing because I LOVE the small used bookstore within the library that is run by Friends of the Library! Wonderful volunteers, fantastic books [many of which are in excellent condition] and fantastic prices. Should you wander in, you’ll be amazed!

The library looks like a nice high school’s library and has a rather small selection which is understandable given the small building size. However, almost any content is available through inter-library loans with other LA county libraries. You just have to wait for a few weeks to a few months for the content to become available and shipped to Malibu. If you have a question make sure to go to the help desk in the middle of the library, they are much more knowledgeable than the front desk. They also have free wi-fi if you have a library card, which you can get if you live anywhere in LA county or go to school at Pepperdine.

I love this new library(it is right next to the old Malibu Library)! It is small, but has a great selection of books and DVDs! There is a computer station, wonderful children’s section and outdoor seating which is brilliant! I’ve spent many lunch breaks here because it’s so peaceful. To top it off, I was finally able to catch up on The Tudors! I was so excited to find that they had the entire series available for check-out! There is a self check-out area which is so quick and easy to use!

Screaming children, weirdos, and beligerent homeless people. It’s quieter and not as creepy at Starbuck’s across the street than in this place. I don’t know who designed this building, clearly no one who actually uses a library. The childrens’ section is placed perfectly so that the unruly, screaming sounds of children carry throughout the large rectangular room. If the children(whose mothers should take them to a park) don’t turn you off from here, then the odd, older alchol-drenched dudes may do so. The homeless people don’t do much, but should sleeping and movie watching trump real usage? When I needed to use the study room for a meeting and it went over an hour, I got booted out and the homeless person signed up after me got to use it to watch wrestling videos. Don’t even get me started on the computers. When all are in use, I’ve tried using the teen area computers, but get told I can’t. Even when there are no teens on the computers and the area is completely empy. So, I have to wait until the homeless people are done. If you need a library, drive to Topanga Library. It’s awesome. No screaming children. No drunk dudes. No homeless. And the people are actually helpful there. So, if you’re in Malibu and wanna find a quiet place to work or study, don’t go here.
