Extra Space Storage

Zero stars. Do NOT waste your money here. The place may look nice, but if you pay for «climate controlled» space, and it’s a cold winter, they definitely will not be heating the building like the contract says! [Not to mention the rodents– see below]. When I proved this to the manager by bringing in three different thermometers, they offered for me to move to a different space… I had a house worth of furniture in there that I can’t move myself, to start with, and every unit should be the temperature that the contract says they will maintain at minimum, regardless of where it is in the building.
They also clearly did not maintain an indoor «climate», because some of my furniture and paint cracked from the humidity.
Oh wait, did I mention the MICE! When I showed them hard evidence of this– clothes and boxes with pee on them, and brought them in to experience the lovely smell, the manager initially denied it, and after a temporary employee came in and actually recorded notes saying it smelled of urine, the horrible manager offered to have the exterminators look at the unit when they came in… next month… and give us 24 hour notice so we could let them in. Not only did this never happen, but that’s not really a helpful solution.
The manager– Juan: fire him. Please! If only he, or anyone through the extra space storage website, would ever give me the contact information of his boss, I would have made this clear. He was rude, unhelpful, and only ever proposed his «solutions» to my husband, so it turns out he may be sexist as well. Horrible customer service, and despite making an appointment with him, he never had the courage to meet face-​to-​face. He should work with computers, not people.
They also bumped up the cost while there, by about 30 $ I think. I could be wrong, but they definitely increased it.
Side note: The only reason we kept using the space was we could not afford to move our stuff to another one, but it was a great day when I saw the storage unit empty! (And fyi– they will prorate your last month if you ask– but hopefully you never go there).

The establishment is clean and I feel safe as a woman going over there by myself.
I just downsized from a large temperature controlled 10×15 unit which was exorbitantly expensive $ 300+ to a temperature controlled 5×10 which is under $ 90. The staff are friendly and accommodating. If I have one complaint it is that the ice is very dangerous by the units or the access doors on the north side of the building. Keep up with the salt, please.
