A good — less crowded — alternative to the Upper Main Line YMCA. Less crowded weights room and cardio machine area. Group exercise classes less crowded, too. If you’re a UMLYMCA member and fed up with crowds, try this location. If you come out to Route 29 for Wegmans, this is almost next door. PS: I don’t care about«community out-reach.» I’m looking for a work-out. This is a decent place to get one.

I had been a member here for a number of years but recently quit. The Y has basically ruined a gym that was close to my work and now have to drive out of my way to go to a gym. The prior owners of this gym which was called Level Five Fitness were better running a gym. For starters. the spinning classes here at the Great Valley Y have been cut to only two classes per week. They also don’t unlock the doors to the fitness studios until the instructors show up usually late. So yo have to waste your time waiting for them. I also find the staff here snobby or just talking among themselves and never once look at you or say hello. I also fine that their mentoring program for kids is more important than the actual paying members. They let the kids on the machines and take up valuable work out time from paying members These kids are just playing on the equipment and the«mentors” are never really around. Its shame they have ruined a gym that is so convenient to so many. The paying memberships have declined drastically after the Y took this place over. I felt like I was one of the last ones still going there from the 7 years I had gone there. So, if you want annoying non-paying kids around you and very scarce classes this is the place for you.

I was beginning my long term stay at a hotel across the street, so I started searching for nearby Gyms on Unilocal, but this one which was right under my nose did not show up. I later saw it on my way to Baxters to have healthy beer. So have duly input it for you all — you’re welcome. So far it’s been great, never too busy, lots of equipment and it’s bright with lots of windows. It’s especially nice if you’re staying at Homewood Suites since their gym sucks.
