My niece and her husband recently hired Frank from House of Flowers to do the flowers for their daughter’s Bat Mitzvah in Westchester. The venue was your average country club but he transformed the place into an absolute palace. Every detail and then some was thought about, and she could not stop raving about what a pleasure he was from start to finish to deal with. The flowers were simply gorgeous and my niece was thrilled with the outcome. I have to say myself, I was impressed with his creativity knowing that she is not the artistic type. Plus she had a budget her husband made her stick to and he was not disappointed either. Excellent job!

I live just down the street, and popped into the store last week to get a quick bouquet made for my son’s friend, who had her musical première that same night. They did an AMAZING job and the owner was very friendly and engaging. I will definitely be back for all my flower needs! :)

House of Flowers ultimately provided us with beautiful flowers. HOWEVER, Frank did not exactly produce what we had discussed. I would say that if you do not have a strong vision of what you want, Frank will come up with a vision that is lovely. However, if you expect to give direction and have it followed, that is not what I experienced. Let me reiterate that ultimately we were happy with the flowers, but here are the specific issues we encountered: 1. We had two different centerpiece types. Frank did sample #1, and it looked great. He did sample #2 about 5 weeks before the wedding, and it was entirely wrong; it was centerpiece type #1 again, and with the wrong flowers entirely. Being that I live in NYC and don’t have a car, heading back out to Mamaroneck on the train was not going to happen with the upcoming Jewish holidays and the limited time left before the wedding. I asked for a photo of the corrected sample. Frank said no problem. 2. After emailing and calling several times, I finally got a photo of the corrected sample 5DAYS before the wedding. It was NOT what we had talked about, with flowers and colors I had not asked for mixed in with some of the flowers I had asked for. I was promised a revised sample the next morning, and for some unexplained reason, I never got the photo, and Frank had left for the day when I called in the afternoon. No one in the shop knew anything about a revised sample. After speaking with my banquet manager, who has an ongoing relationship with HoF, and after emailing the shop to express my extreme dissatisfaction, I suddenly got the photo emailed to me. Not sure what that was about, but it was unnecessary stress I did not need right before the wedding. The revised sample looked great, thankfully. 3. The bouquets came out beautifully, but not in the way I had asked. I asked for the bridesmaids’ bouquets to be primarily orange with some blue thistle accents and for my bridal bouquet to be primarily blue thistle with a few orange accents. Instead, all of the bouquets looked almost identical. The only differentiation between my bouquet and the bridesmaids’ was that mine had the ivory ribbon I had asked for and the bridesmaids had the gray ribbon I had asked for. Mine was ever so slightly larger. Despite these minute differences, my bouquet cost 3x as much as the bridesmaids’ bouquets. 4. I hand-sewed our chuppah – spent 30 hours on it. I explained this several times to Frank. No hanging tallis as the chuppah – just the hand-made chuppah that I sewed, which needed to be hung delicately. On the day of the wedding, my Mom went downstairs while we were getting ready and saw someone from HoF with scissors in hand getting ready to «cut the chuppah to fit» or something like that. It’s lucky that I did not witness that myself, because I would have ripped someone’s head off. My mom luckily stopped the person in time. Like I said, I spent 30HOURS on this chuppah. NOSCISSORSSHOULDGOANYWHERENEARIT! 5. Because it rained on our wedding day, we had to use poles to hold up the chuppah instead of the gazebo that we had planned on. We had«birch poles» in our flower contract in case of rain. Instead we got some ugly white poles wrapped in white satin ribbon. I had specifically told Frank that I don’t like the look of satin ribbon when we went over the bridesmaid bouquets, and yet, he gave me satin-wrapped poles to feature prominently in our ceremony. In what world do «birch poles» equal white satin ribbon-wrapped poles? 6. HoF hung my husband’s tallis from the chuppah poles in addition to the handmade chuppah. Not only does that make no sense, but we needed the tallis to wrap around our shoulders during the ceremony. Luckily our banquet manager was there to deal with the mix up since I did not see this until we were already downstairs to take photos. 7. Ranunculus featured prominently in our discussions, but not in our centerpieces, nor in the bouquets. We got a couple in each of the bouquets, and I think roses instead in the centerpieces. Explanation: It’s expensive. Might have been nice to hear that during our discussions when we were putting together a contract.

We used House of Flowers for our recent wedding in Westchester and every part of the planning process was seamless and fun. The arrangements all came out beautifully and looked great in the photos. The flowers were fresh and lasted for days afterwards. Frank is very talented and one can tell he knows what he’s doing! We were very happy with everything and highly recommend these services!

My Fiancée and I live in NYC and are getting married in Rye, NY. There are two florists in Mamaroneck. With some reservation, we decided to try the one less«Real-Housewives-NJ-inspired» because of the proximity to our location. However, initially we noticed that the owner was very pushy and he reacted defensively when my fiancée asked the question if he had other weddings on the day of ours. He mentioned that the question was irrelevant since he does thousands of weddings. We ignored the tell signs and decided to schedule to see the arrangement that he had in mind. When we arrived, he applied pressure on us to agree as quickly and possible and got us out the door so he didn’t have to make any adjustments. we actually had to walk back to the store once my fiancée and i had a chance to talk about the arrangement out of the store to share with him that we actually were not too happy with his arrangement. He obnoxiously, sarcastically and harshly made some bad cosmetic changes to our arrangement to prove the point that his arrangement was exactly what was needed. He reluctantly agreed to redo the arrangement and the second one had as bad energy as the first one. The petals were dry and the arrangement looked just sad. It almost felt like it was his way of telling us «you see, the one that I designed for you initially was right». We decided to go with a florist in NYC that designed the wedding of a couple of friends in NYC. They got the elegant and minimalist touch we were looking for and the transportation and setup price was the same as the one in Mamaroneck. We highly discourage you from making the mistake of working with this vendor. There is no reason to settle on your wedding.

My wedding flowers were perfect. Everything was even better than I imagined — I appreciated all the recommendations they gave and the fact that they really understood what I was looking for. They were very easy to work with and at the last minute were able to accommodate a request for fresh flowers for my hair. Amazing!!!
