Excellent variety of Northern, Southern, and Central Italy. The chicken, fish, and eggplant rollatini were all delicious and fresh.

I ate here for a business dinner and was blown away by the personal service and attention of the owner who was also the chef AND the waitress, Rosa and her husband Angelo. The food was excellent and the service was so attentive. I don’t write a lot of reviews but felt compelled to write. I will definitely be back.

You can not find a more gracious host and hostess. Rosa will make you feel like family. The food is always delicious, and I look forward to going back.

It is extremely rare(I can not remember) when I give a restaurant a 5* review. In reality, I would remove a half star for the tired décor but, Rosa and her husband make up for it by being warm and endearing dinner companions. And this love for delivering quality to her customers show in Rosa’s food. It is a place where I can find myself going 1 – 2 times per week if I don’t pace myself. I tend to want to overdose on specific foods and/or cuisine when I discover something I really like and I want to enjoy this restaurant for years to come! After you go more than a couple times, it becomes as satisfying and comfortable as going to grandma’s house. Those who had that experience growing up will know exactly what I am talking about — those who has not had that childhood experience will learn what they missed.

I don’t think I have ever given a restaurant a Five-Star review on Unilocal before, but here it is. The best dining experience you could reasonably ask for(that is, assuming you like Italian Food). The Restaurant is operated by a husband and wife. They are both out on the floor and very welcoming. The food is absolutely excellent. Rosa prepares like 10 specials everyday, I honestly don’t know why they even have a menu, just order the specials. The food is very reasonably priced. There is a solid wine list. The cocktails are great. This place just crushes it. If you are reading this you are doing yourself a dis-service by not going here.

Had high hopes… Owner, a lovely Italian woman, who was welcoming, warm and friendly. Menu and specials offered a great selection from which to choose. Great martinis in a cozy atmosphere. However that is where it stops… I ordered veal Parmesan(not on the menu), and since it was a «special request» would take longer to prepare. Two hours later we are still waiting for our food!!! There were 4 other tables being served, certainly not a large crowd. My veal was not worth the wait… mediocre at best. In fact it did not appear to be a scallapini cut, albeit a ground veal patty with minimal cheese and red sauce… No accompanying veggies(as promised) or pasta. Certainly NOT a repeater. Too many other Italian restaurants in the area to try. Plus the owner was then bad mouthing the competition.

If there were a six-star rating on Unilocal this restaurant would more than deserve it! Rosa’s is simply amazing. The food is incredibly delicious and there is a great selection. Anything we’ve ever ordered from the menu has been exceptionally tasty. The only downside is the restaurant is not cheap. But I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for, and I’m willing to pay up for the exceptional cuisine which Rosa’s serves.

Came here for a fathers day dinner and we had a wonderful time. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. The Fresh snapper was delicious and not overcooked as some places make it. The tricolor salad was fresh and crispy. For dessert the special nutella surprised us all. Excellent

Rosa’s is a gorgeous, welcoming and authentic Italian restaurant that will make you praise the foodie-heavens because every minute is .delicious.(Yes, time can have a taste) We started with a plate of prosciutto, burrata, bruschetta, and fresh tomatoes. The(imported) burrata was melt-in-your-mouth BOMB and it only got better piled on top of the fresh bread, prosciutto, and bruschetta. If you haven’t found happiness yet, this will show you the light. I insisted on mussels with white wine to wrap up a DREAM round of appetizers. Served by the chef herself(what a treat) the entrees were phenom: Gnocchi bolognese, swordfish messinese, and skirt steak. I can’t find words that would do justice to the swordfish messinese. The gnocchi was fluffy and amazing with the bolognese. Finally topped it off with a homemade ricotta cheesecake… I’m not a dessert guy but know a great cheesecake being from ny and all … The attention to detail, passion for food, and love for their customers is what drives this place. If you have read this review there shouldn’t be anymore debate, just go. Drop your things and go right now!

Cavatelli, broccoli rabe sausage dish — the best we have ever had – spicy sausage. The Italian cheesecake was really homemade and possibly the best. Authentic gravy. Friendly service! Will definitely go back. May have been overcharged $ 1 for cheesecake but didn’t say anything and took dollar from tip.

5 stars for an amazing experience all around. We had a large group so they have a table waiting for us in the back room. We were the only ones in the room so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was initially chilly and there was no music. The owners were quick to turn up the heat and put on some nice music. We had about a 4 hour dining experience. It started off with Rosa introducing herself and explaining a bit about herself and the restaurant. We happened to have someone with us visiting from Milan. Rosa and my friend were speaking Italian to one another and were familiar with the areas each person was from. We started off with some wine and they brought us bread with chunks of garlic and butter. The bread was grilled to perfection and could not get enough of it. Yes, the bread was heated up on the grill so it had a nice char flavor. We then tried several of the appetizers that were also delicious. I ended up getting the veal as an entrée which was cooked to perfection. We ended up ordering a couple slices of home-made apple pie for dessert. Hands down one of the best pieces of pie I’ve had. When the bill came, we noticed that they comped us for the dessert. Was a great experience and would recommend if you would like to have a relaxing, enjoyable, and authentic Italian meal. There is also a NYT article about the place:

We’ve just discovered this little gem, a stones throw from the Mamaroneck Train Station. The intimate atmosphere is complete with soft Italian music and tiny white lights that will carry you away to the hillsides of Italy! The carefully prepared dishes are old family recipes that are homemade by Rosa, herself! The sauces are so flavorful that you will want extra bread to finish up. and as full as you are, there are homemade Italian desserts not to be missed! As Rosa says, «Come in as a stranger, leave as a member if the family». Rosa and her husband feel like family after one visit. We are already thinking about what to try at our next visit to Rosa’s!

Epitome of what Italian food is supposed to be. Great multi-course meal. Rosa and her husband are the best, just defer to her for all the orders. The best part of the meal is interacting with Rosa. She explains it better than me, but scarbitta means to wipe up the sauce with the bread, and I find it symbolic for the family-oriented, homely foods she puts out there. I know people criticize the prices, but it is no different than any Italian restaurant in the area. She prepares her food personally every day, and her specials are top notch. Eating with Rosa is an experience everyone should have, but perhaps not a quick bite to eat getting off the train after a long day. Come with family and friends.

The food was pretty good and the owners go out of their way to be very friendly, but it is vastly overpriced. A pretty basic dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine and no desserts came to $ 170… a similar meal at most other nice Italian restaurants in the area is about $ 100. Frankly, it felt like a Times Square Theatre district tourist trap…

In a nut shell, terrible! Quite possibly the worst meal I have had out in many years. On my visit in early May, I ordered a skirt steak, which had the consistency of a hockey puck. The steak was so charred, that there was actually ash coming off of it. It sort of tasted like that piece of overcooked meat you dropped in charcoal, but didn’t want to throw out because it was the only piece left. That only begins to describe how bad it was. The peperoni/baloney appetizers were bland and not well presented. The salad had a few carrots, but no tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons, etc. It seemed like they were trying to save a few bucks and no one would notice. Well, I did. Not good. The calamari was very chewy. Not at all how it should taste. Makes me wonder if it was fresh or the same guy cooking the skirt steak was making it Rosa is very nice, no doubt, and she tries to make the meal palatable by turning on the«old Italian lady» charm, but this shtick gets old fast when the meal is barely edible. Watching Rosa and her family run the place virtually by themselves seemed to overwhelm them. The servers(including Rosa herself) were not polished — we had to ask for additional water on multiple occasions. We also did not have utensils when we should have. All in all, a very poor experience. I hope they do well, but they have their work cut out for them.

Disappointed. We went in thinking the world of the families pedigree and came away satisfied but not blown away. This is your standard Italian fare with a great specials board so it’s good for foodies too. I would recommend staying with the specials. With that said, I ordered the Zuppa de peche and my wife got the shrimp la rosa. Both shrimp dishes were overcooked and the pasta was eh. For app we had the burrata which was yum but the tomatoes and peppers were not. Desert was great and the saving grace, homemade Italian cheesecake. The latte and cap were their saving grace but it’s strange to say that the deserts were the best part of a «great italian joint» I can’t recommend this to my foodie friends especially at those price points.

As soon as you walk in, you feel as if you’ve come home. Chef Rosa Merenda can often be found in the dining area greeting her guests along with her husband and partner Angelo. Seems like this restaurant really knows customer service and appreciates its patrons. The menu is full of fine authenic Italian dishes and the service is top notch. From the antipasto all the way through dessert you’ll enjoy all that’s on the menu. It’s so good, we have to try the rest of the menu next week. A must to have is the Burrata appetizer, a home made butter like mozzarella cheese screaming with a creamy filled center. A taste of old world Bari in Westchester. I highly recommend it.
