Like a previous reviewer stated, you won’t be treated very respectfully here if they don’t recognize you, local or not. However, the regular customers are greeted on a first name basis in a friendly manner.
I’m not a carpenter, and I had a simple carpentry related question for the guy at the front. To answer the question would literally take 30 seconds. For no apparent reason, he started speaking to me in a bit of a belittling tone like I was wasting his time. With a smirk on his face! I’m just starting to do some remodeling on my condo in town and plan to spend some $$$. Guess who won’t get my business? I’ll stick to DIY next to Rite Aid. Staff is friendly there and they’re well stocked.

High County is great! I’ve never experienced a higher level of personalized customer service and product knowledge at another hardware store, especially in Mammoth. Their staff is very helpful and friendly and their prices are very reasonable. Best in town!

One star because Unilocal won t let me go any lower. Bottom line — unless you re a recognized local, you ll be treated like crap if you try to buy something from these guys.
Upon entering, not only was I not greeted, but I was stared at to the point of uncomfortableness by three employees. After waiting almost 5 minutes to be checked-​out — a «good ol boy» jetted-​in ahead of me and was immediately taken care of. Worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long while. BTW, I’m a retired homebuilder.
Completely skip the Do It Center, High Country Lumber is an Ace affiliate with knowledgeable staff & better quality hardware/​products. Shop Local!
