Located in Manahawkin, this is one of the only thrift stores close to Long Beach Island. It is run by volunteers from the Southern Ocean County Hospital Auxiliary as additional fund raising for the hospital. This shop relies entirely on donations, and boy do they get them from the summer homes on the island as well as the pack rats on the mainland. Overall selection is typical of thrift stores: mainly glassware and clothing with some household goods, some furniture, some sporting goods, some books. The clothing is usually for older people and not children’s or juniors. The glassware is plentiful but these volunteers know what they’re looking at some real good bargains are few and far between. Price is moderate compared to other thrift shops and garage sales. Once a week there is a half-price sale on some type of items(furniture, men clothing, etc.). Donations are easy to drop off in the back. Watch out in the beginning of summer around June when everyone is cleaning out their summer homes and dropping items off since they will put up a sign saying that they aren’t accepting donations if they get too many. I also didn’t get a good picture for Unilocal since as I was taking the picture one of the elderly ladies was chasing me away for snapping photos.
