I never ever thought that I would go to Addy’s Lounge. Redneck bars just ain’t my thing. However, a friend of mine and his band were opening the evenings set of live music, so we came out to see the show. The pros: The staff was very nice, and service was very good. We ordered a couple of appetizers that were better then I expected them to be. The cons: Beer and wine selection was meh to bleh; cocktails weren’t much better. Although smoking is not allowed in VA establishments, decade of smoke stink had permeated certain areas of the bar. This isn’t a slam on the bar, but decades of staying away from me the bar scene left me unprepared for the bill. I was expecting to spend $ 40 – 50 as a couple, but ended up spending closer to $ 80. Three stars for a nice evening, but I don’t think I would go back unless another friend was playing a set.

Addy’s is attached to the Best Western Hotel in Manassas, VA — just off I-66. It’s got a down-home country vibe to it. Most of your beer selections are the mass produced American beers. Their offering for a «craft beer» is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Not bad, but it tends toward the larger, mass-produced beer companies — versus the smaller local craft breweries. I visited during a special fundraiser event on a Friday evening. It was after midnight. The band that was performing was rocking — the band was really good — they kicked ass! Great sound — mostly performing country, southern rock, that kind of stuff. The patrons in attendance were most definitely from this demographic. The Ale is very cold. I had two Sierra Nevada Pale Ales — served in a plastic cup. While I was here — an older, drunk woman — a total stranger to me — who was attending the fundraiser — started coming on to me — that was when I knew it was time to leave. I moved from one part of the bar to another to try and send a message, but she continued to hover. At that point, I knew it was time to skedaddle! I doubt I would ever come back here again — unless it was to support a special fundraising event for a person in need.

The one star is for their customer service which is very good. But their food … Woooooooo id rather just not eat. Their steak and cheese is literally chopped up pieces of steak with chunks of fat on it. My friend got a hamburger that was falling apart and not seasoned. Just horrible food but great fries … Ugh wish I never spent my money here

Although it is probably not the first choice of non locals for food and hanging out, Addy’s does host several events including card tournaments, but they are most known for their bands on the weekends. There is not one particular genre here, they spread it out rock some nights, country, alternative, southern rock. They also have karaōke during the week that a lot of my friends like to go to. The dance floor, although not the largest in the area, is the best one in the area. The bar backs and security are very good about keeping people with drinks off the dance floor unlike TKs. It does get a bit crowded though making it hard to dance, but sometimes that’s a blessing because sometimes I wear myself out and don’t want to sit down, but don’t want to just stand there and sway back and forth — so I like it when I get to take a break when it crowds up. I go for one particular band. I am chagrin to admit but the service can be quite slow regardless of how many people are there and the last time i was there the poor server couldn’t remember anything I told him– rough night for the lad; he must have been new. There are a couple who recognize me and one in particular knows just what i like. If I could remember her name, I would give her a shout out here. Maybe I’ll update it later. They also sometimes miss on the drinks and are not very happy to get drinks sent back to them, but, hey, it’s my preference to pay for what I order. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen too often. The food is actually not that bad. My favorite is the Chicken Caesar Salad. It is very good. There was one time when I ordered it, the server asked me what kind of dressing I wanted on it… ??? that threw me a bit, but what threw me even more was when I said, caesar is good, he said, I’m not sure if we have that, but I’ll check… ??? Thankfully when I got my caesar salad, it did have caesar dressing on it and was yummy as usual. My friend always gets the chicken tenders– they won’t rock your world, but they are good. The steak and cheese is also good as is the spaghetti. The prices for the food are pretty decent… not really overpriced. I do think however their drinks might be a tad overpriced for the quality… my bill does tend to be quite high– even when I’m not drinking much; like maybe three drinks and a meal usually runs me about 37 $. Side note, on band nights, if you go for dinner and stay for the band, your cover charge is free. Otherwise its like 5 on Fridays and 7 I think on Saturdays. I usually don’t like going places with cover charges but knowing it goes to the band, I’m okay with it. As for cops, I haven’t seen them lingering outside, actually haven’t seen them much at all I the 7 years I’ve been going there — even when I was there just a few months ago. I haven’t stayed in one of the rooms, so I can’t comment on that. But, the bathrooms in the lobby are atrocious!!! The doors swing in to the stall, which makes it difficult to maneuver in itself, but, ad the crazy small size of the stall basically makes it ludicrous… we have had quite a few run ins… one toilet also is famous for overflowing, and, it is always hot in there. We do tell the front desk, but i guess its not really a priority. Overall rating would be a two star, but the dance floor and that they don’t allow smoking inside bumps it up to three.

Closed for lunch and on Sundays, Addy’s is attached to the Best Western hotel. It’s a bar that opens at about 5:00. Few if any of the locals, and virtually no one staying at the hotel go there for dinner. It’s mostly a bar crowd that is drinking and sometimes eating while in the bar. For the hotel patrons there are coupons in the lobby for dinner at other nearby restaurants. That tells you something about the food there. They close early, at midnight or earlier during the week. You can usually find a hooker or two at the bar. Be careful, the local police have been known to patrol the parking lot looking for drug sales. Addy’s has existed for far more than 10 years before I became the first one to write a review of it. That should tell you how popular the place is.
