we literally just walked out. annoyed because we were craving good sushi and drinks we sat at the sushi bar for 15 min and NOBODY said a word to us. then when I told a employee that happen to be walking by that we had not been helped and didn’t wanna spend our money there she said…“Good”. hahahha wow. then we asked who the Manager was. she pointed at him and rolled her eyes. I told the manager what happened but he didn’t seem to really care . we are on our way to SUMOSUSHI If you want to be treated with respect. don’t go spend your money at this place.

The salmon skin rolls were very fishy. Definitely the worst I’ve ever had. Also the sign advertises that they have a $ 1 Sushi lunch special. They don’t. The spicy salmon roll was ok. So was the miso soup. The rolls were much small than what I’m used to at other places. I won’t be back.

My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine’s Day and had a reservation. We were seated immediately and waited about 15 – 20 minutes for other people to arrive before our hibachi station was full. The service was fine(I had to ask the waitress a few times for more water because I was back in the corner). This is the first japanese restaurant we’ve been to in Manassas and I would definitely go back. I enjoyed it and would love to go back and try the sushi.

My family and I went here on a Friday night for dinner. No waiting time, staff was friendly, kept our drinks filled up without asking, food was good and fulfilling my kids enjoyed themselves as well. We will definitely come back!

Went for sushi and it sucked. I’ve had better that was cheaper and more authentic that what they offered. I guess it because it’s in Manassas…

This place is TERRIBLE I just left and paid 40 dollars for half a meal! Requested a manager and the woman walked up and said I’m a manager couldn’t even look me in the eye when I voice my complaint even after I told her I was still paying for my meal! This place is awful if you want to overprice food and terrible service then eat here!

I LOVE their Sushi and Sashimi combo. I think it’s Akasaka special A. I haven’t tried anything else here for a long time. Anytime I’ve ordered the special, it has always been fresh and tastes amazing!

Me and my friends went there to just have lunch. We were so excited about sitting at the sushi bar and getting some sushi. I ordered the salmon nigiri, and my friend ordered the masago BOTH of the rolls were globbed with wasabi inside of them and we were not warned!!! Never in all the sushi places has wasabi been in the sushi itself it is on the side most all the time if not you have to ask for it… the sushi chef said its always in sushi therefore arguing with us. Will not be going back.

Akasaka is our go-to place for celebrations. Has never failed to make birthday people happy. We’ve gone here for our company Christmas lunches as well. Food is good. Atmosphere suited for chatting since there’s no loud music usually present in Korean AYCE places, except for when they play the birthday song. And the chefs always make us smile. Expect to come out of the restuarant smelling of Hibachi though.

My husband and I came here for lunch. When we first arrived there was no one there but the employees, and they looked as if they were having lunch also. It took a few minutes for anyone to greet us(mind you no other consumers were there), someone was called from the back and we were then seated at a typical Japanese steakhouse styled table(you know, the ones where they cook in front of you). Only to be informed that because it was lunch time they wouldn’t be cooking our food @ the table. We’re like«O-key-doe-key». We ordered our food and as we were waiting more people came in, expecting the Japanese Steakhouse experience only to be let down HA. I feel they should just close for lunch or not serve Habachi styled food for lunch. I digress… after we finished eating(the food was okay), my husband asked for the check and the waitress brings only the copy for him to sign and no copy for us, and when he asked for a copy they questioned why he needed a receipt as if it were a crime! I’m not sure if this place is new or what but, they seem very inexperienced.

Came here based on a friends recommendation. Didn’t know it was here as it is a bit hidden. But easy to find. Came in on a Monday at about 8pm. Handful of people dining but not too busy. Very attentive waiters who made sure to keep our drinks topped off. We came just for sushi. We ordered 4 different rolls(sorry I don’t remember which ones!). Loved every single one. Very good. The food was rather slow to come out. It appeared that only one older guy was making rolls. But still very vey yummy. Decent prices, I think our total was $ 42 for two sodas, 4 rolls, including tip. Will certainly come back.

After 6 years living in Manassas, my wife and I ate here on a whim a few months ago. Today we went there for our anniversary and I can honestly say it is the best Japanese steakhouse I’ve been to. I had the steak and lobster dinner both times and the meal was cooked perfectly. The Imperial meal came with tempura vegetables which were very good as well. Service was great as my drink was never more than half empty. We will definitely plan on going back again soon.

Had a great time took the girlfriend to have dinner. Sushi night prices are reasonable servers were very attentive. Small hibachi grill and sushi very nice, décor was what you would expect, comfy, not too loud and everything was delicious. Been here a few times never disappointed.

I simply love this restaurant. I like Japanese food; and this place offers both the Hibachi steakhouse cuisine along with sushi. The sushi chef, the owner, is a very amicable gentleman. The restaurant is operated by Koreans, but they do a great job with instilling quality in products and service. What do I mean? The restaurant personnel pay attention to what you order. I have not once, in the 10 years I have been going to this restaurant ever had a meal that was incorrect; maybe others have, but none in a group associated with me. Quality in food? The sushi ingredients(raw fish, squid, octopus, and etc) are always fresh; because the owner has a business/personal policy of ensuring the ingredients are not older than 2 days. Tonight, I found he goes through ½ of a large filet of salmon(that’s a pretty large piece). They have special rolls they make that are written on little white dry erase boards. My only complaint is that with my eyes, I don’t just require reading glasses to read what they are, but I need them brought to me. If you like spicy, try the *Dynamite Roll*, I love it with the jalapeño slice(s) and the dab of Sriracha sauce. Furthemore, they will take a ‘named’ roll, and allow you to adapt the recipe(perhaps drop seaweed, or change tuna to salmon). The prices of all the typical sushi and sashimi are pretty decent, and the specialized rolls; they are worth the cost(in the $$ range).

Came here awhile back to celebrate a friends birthday. They sang, took a picture, made a balloon hat, etc. for the birthday girl. Very sweet of them! The restaurant is spacious and clean. Great for parties, dates, family night out. The employees are all very sweet and attentive. Our hibachi chef was awesome. He was friendly, personable, and entertaining. Our fried rice, veggies, meats, shrimp were delicious but a bit on the saltier side. The two sauces that come with your meal really add more flavor to the meats and veggies. They are delicious and addicting. The consistency was spot on for everything. I just had to drink a whole lot of water after eating my meal. They are generous with the portions, I left with plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Overall, we had a good time and the birthday girl was happy.

This restaurant is average for Japanese steakhouses. The food is good but the service is sub-par. Expect to pay between $ 16.95 and $ 36.95 for meals with an additional $ 2.00 if you want fried rice. I do not understand why fried rice is not included in the charge for a meal. It comes across as an insult that you have to pay more especially when you see the chef dump the ingredients on the cooktop and prepare it in 2 minutes. Rice, salt, onions, and a portion of an egg for $ 2.00? Steamed rice is included in your meal charge. The service is below average. After the initial drink orders, we had to flag down a server for refills and new drinks. The server was honest in explaining the extra charge for the fried rice(as I did not see mention of an additional charge on the menu). I did not want to disappoint my kids who were looking forward to Hibachi fried rice so I ordered the fried rice despite my reservations. They also have a strict policy that you cannot purchase a child’s meal if you are older than 10 years old. Many local people love this restaurant including a couple at our table. The food is good and the prices are comparable to other Japanese restaurants in the area. I believe the restaurant does not offer enough value to families on a budget so be forewarned. Our meal for 3 was just under $ 120 after tip and taxes. Expect to pay a premium for an average meal. If you like Hibachi restaurant fare and are fine with the premium price for the experience, Akasaka Sushi and Steak is a solid choice.

Worst sushi experience I have had so far. Wanted to really like this place since I live so close now but was disappointed. We walked in and it seemed very busy(all hibachi patrons) we were told to sit down even though we said that we just wanted sushi and wanted to sit at the bar. 5 minutes go by and we see open seats at the bar and are confused why the woman at the counter just told us to sit, i got up and told her again we just wanted sushi and she said okay well sit at the bar. When we sat down i told her thats what we said 5 minutes ago and she didnt say anything but laugh. Literally just laughed at us. We ordered a saporro and some sake to start. Also got some miso soup which was the highlight of the meal. We ordered 4 sushi rolls(chesapeake, bayside, philly, and spicy yellowtail) which were all horrible. Way too much rice and barely any meat in all of them. I have been to at least 10 different sushi places in the area and this was the worst as far as sushi goes. The guy at the bar who made our sushi actually stuck the plate out in front of us and just was waiting until we took it from him. I have never been served like that and we actually thought he was holding it out for a waiter to come get it since he didnt say a word. Finally my boyfriend said oh is that ours? And he just pushed it towards him and grunted. The rolls were worst ive ever had and for the price $ 10 – 14 for some of the rolls I’m shocked thats how they would serve them. Oh and when its someones birthday this extremely loud unable to even talk anymore music fills the building and it is so weird. Our meal totaled $ 53 bucks and was such a waste, but you dont know until you try I suppose. Definitely will not be returning here ever.

I took my two year old son on a lunch date here today. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. I’m aware that all sushi is generally a people pleasing meal, but I especially enjoyed what was served to me today. What makes this Japanese steakhouse stand out from the sea of Japanese steakhouses and convinced me to come back soon was the excellent service we experienced. The sushi chef spoke with me about my son and about his grandson, the wait staff kept our waters topped off and were quick to make sure we had everything we could possibly need. The best part was when my toddler was struggling with using his chopsticks, one of the wait staff made him a homemade toddler chopstick set with tightly rolled paper and a rubber band. He then was able to eat his entire meal with chopsticks for the first time ever and was so pleased with himself! The happiness this simple gesture brought my child left a great impression on me. Thank you, whoever did that. I hope you know it was such a wonderfully thoughtful thing for you to take the time to do. We will definitely come back again to support this business.

This place is right near my house, so I was hoping it would be better. This is the most disappointing sushi experience of my life, including awful grocery store sushi. I typically order to-go, but have dined in once or twice at the sushi bar and always try to leave happy but never do. I have learned my lesson. To begin, the pieces measure less than an inch of haphazardly rolled mess and half the time they are half open and falling apart before I can eat them. I actually measured the pieces. I took pictures and even compared by photo their sushi to another place nearby, but of course thank you iOS8 for making me restore my phone… If I get desperate enough to go back, I will retake the photos for SURE. Anyway, for the money they charge, that is ludicrous. The lunch special«$ 1 per piece» deal is a rip off. If a traditional roll is $ 5.25 for example, and you get 6 pieces of sushi a la carte, you’re paying MORE for a roll if you just ordered the freaking roll. Yes, it gives you a chance to order single pieces of whatever they have, which is the pro, but it’s not very economical if you eat 1 – 2 rolls for a meal. A long time ago we had hibachi here and sushi, and they actually charged us for the rice we left over or if we didnt eat it. Seriously? That is why we never ate hibachi here again, but as the closest sushi joint, I didn’t have much choice unless I wanted to run all over Manassas in lunch/dinner traffic. I really want to like you, Akasaka, but you are making it really difficult to do that.
