Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care

Had my transmission «rebuilt» last year. I am no rookie with auto work but did not want to rebuild the transmission myself. I had just replaced the motor myself. I had looked into the transmission myself as well but decided I did not want anything to do with it. First of all, they forgot to put the timing probe on the bell housing, which threw the timing off and fried sensors and blew out my muffler when it backfired. The timing probe is a $ 3 rubber piece that holds the crankshaft position sensor in place. The cps actually got chewed up due to this issue. They did inform me there were issues with the motor I put it (heads were cracked) so I give them credit for finding that issue with a compression check. However while doing the head work I noticed the transmission was not the same one I dropped off to have rebuilt. Mind you I had been up close in personal with my transmission prior to having them «rebuild» it. The one they put in works, but for how long? Based on the other review here it is questionable. They were really nice but I’m not 100% sure about the whole experience. The price I paid for the «rebuild» was not far off from purchasing a new transmission.

I know the listing says for transmissions, however I was just having battery issues. Called them on a whim and asked if they could install a battery I picked up from Auto Zone. And to my amazement they took me in right away and I was in and out under a hour. Staff was very helpful and attentive and wanted to give a extra thanks to the Manager Mr. Johnson for the excellent experience you gave me this morning!

Took my van in a few weeks ago. Leonard (AKA Dr. Leonard) did a road test and complete analysis. He gave me a few recommendations for repair or replacement of the transmission. They did exactly what I wanted with great communication while the repairs were made. My replacement transmission has given my van new life. Very Satisfied!

We bought a used van for our martial arts school. We had some issues and took it this Cottman to determine if it was the transmission. Mr. Charn and Mr. Leonard were very clear in explaining the problem with the van. They stated that the issue was not with the transmission and that we had to have a tune up. They also recommended that we change our tires.
Given that we are transporting children, it is very important that we have safe and reliable transportation. We were very pleased with the services that we received from Cottman. They explained clearly and were professional. Without hesitation, we would recommend them.

Had my vehicle repaired there in 2011. They rebuilt my tranny. Well I thought so. With in a few thousands miles I had to take it back to get fixed. Then 10 000 miles later it went out again. Now 22 000 miles later it is out again. Promised a three year warrrenty but did not get it. Now there just trying to change out this and that to try to make it work. Have no clue what there doing. I wouldn’t even have them change my wiper blades.
