Great food, very clean place, but it’s to small you cannot fit a big group of people. And the price is reasonable, and the food is very healthy… Thanks Mir Ansary

Names are confusing in the Manassas Kabob scene. This place used to be called«Charcoal Chicken». Now, Charcoal Chicken is name to another unrelated place further down Sudley Rd next to the new SkyZone, which serves Peruvian Chicken. Anyway, this is THEBEST Afghan food in Manassas. The price is also amazing if you come for the lunch special. $ 7 or so for ground beef or chicken kebab, two types of rice, salad, chickpeas, and yogurt sauce. It’s pretty clear from the photos that the food here is delicious, particularly the two types of rice served.

One of the best Kabob places in Manassas that I have found so far. A lot of places have closed down but I am glad there is still one around. The facility is ok for a quick sit down and eat but not for a group of people. It is very small and not too much on the interior designing but the food is yumm! My friend and I ordered online to make things faster, and let me tell you– it was fast. We got a call maybe 10 – 15 minutes later to let us know our food was nearly done. What place does that?! So when we arrived, our food was piping hot and smelled sooooo good! I ordered the Chicken Kobidah(ground chicken mixed with seasoning and onions)– Not many places offer Chicken Kobidah and I dont know why? THISSTUFFIS #BOMBDOTCOM– its comes with naan(not bad, a little over cooked, so it was crunchy), chickpeas(a little heavy on the spices), salad(very generic salad with an almost like italian dressing), and two sides of rice(plain white rice and a brown seasoned rice) EVERYTHINGWASGREATTOGETHER! My friend ordered the Chapli Kabob(Spicy Ground beef Sauteed) — and ohhheeemmgeee— SOOOOGOOD! The only complaint that her and I both agree on was it was a bit too oily. I really recommend this place if anyone is interested in trying or craving kabob. I will definiteyly be coming back for more!

My daughter and I were missing the Charcoal Chicken place that was here so we figured we’d give it a try. The prices are extremely reasonable. For a lamb and chicken combo, with basmati rice, chick pea soup and bread for $ 12. We waited about 15 minutes for our meal. The lamb was good and only a little tough. The chicken was well seasoned and the rice was simple yet flavorful. The chickpea soup was not as good as I’ve had in the past. The staff was pleasant and helpful with the menu. We will def be back in the future.

Great kabob. They have a lunch special that is only $ 7 from Mon-Fri 12 – 3PM. That includes a generous portion of rice, your choice of chicken or beef, and a small salad. Bread is only a dollar more. Everything I’ve had here is great and consistently good. The place is a bit small for dining in but I’ve never not been able to find a seat.

This place is great! The food is inexpensive(priced just right), but is so delicious and tender. The jasmine rice that they serve is also quite flavorful, I am a sucker for succulent tender meats tossed on top of perfectly cooked rice and that’s exactly what the folks do. Furthermore, they cook and serve lamb in tender morcels that are so juicy my mouth is watering just remebering it. Anyway check this place out, its authentic Afghani food too!

Grill Kabob Express was a little hard to find but I am glad I did. It is most easily accessed off Business 234 by Portsmouth Rd. It is in the same plaza as Aldi and Party Co. I have gotten take out from here several times and have been happy each time. The place is small with about 6 – 8 tables available for dining in. I have tried the beef kobidah, chicken tikka, and the gyro platter. All have been very good. The meat is marinated well and the rice flavorful. The tzatziki sauce is also very good. I thought the salad was going to be plain but it does have a very tasty olive oil/lemon dressing. I want ground meats cooked well done but prefer that other cuts not be severely overcooked as most other kabob places do. Grill Kabob Express does not disappoint. The Chicken Tikka was completely cooked but was still moist and tender. The gyro platter sandwich was very good and the biggest surprise was the fries somehow remained crisp on the way home. I did not expect such good fries from a kabob place. This is my go to kabob place for take out in Manassas.

Pretty good kabob place to fulfill your craving for kabobs, I was disappointed when the previous owner sold it to this chain restaurant. But they do not disappoint, a little pricey though not an everyday place for lunch. Also do not plan on eating there during lunch, space is very limited. Their $ 5.99 lunch special mon-fri which is a chicken dish seems like an enticing deal.

As noted by Harry M, Charcoal Chicken & Kabob in the shopping center off Portsmouth Rd. is no more. It is under new management, with a new name and entirely new menu. So a new Unilocal entry is in order, is it not? The new business is called Grill Kabob Express, and it’s the same ownership(and menu) as the Grill Kabob Express in Fairfax. My wife and I have had carry-out dinner here twice in the last two weeks, and have been generally happy with our meals. For me, Famous Kabob on Liberia is still my go-to Kabob spot in Manassas, but the wife prefers Grill Kabob Express more because they do have more options on the menu. My wife prefers beef kabobs, but Famous Kabob’s only beef option is the ground beef kabob, which she doesn’t like. GKX offers a couple of options for beef and the wife loves their beef tikka kabob, which she ordered both times. She’s one of those types that finds something she likes and sticks to it. I’m more of a menu explorer. As a lamb lover, I really enjoyed the lamb chops I got the first time I visited. Four well-cooked lamb chops with awesome rice for $ 16.99 is hard to beat. They also include the obligatory side«salad» and naan, but also throw in a side. It’s typically the chick peas unless you ask for something else … but that would be silly because the chick peas are AWESOME. The second time I wanted to the Soltani Kabob(ground beef and filet kabob) but they said they were out.(They probably ran out of the ground beef, since it was close to closing) So I went with the lamb tikka this time. The chunks of lamb were plentiful but a little under-seasoned and over-cooked for my taste. The naan was a tad too chewy too. I enjoyed and was happy with the meal, but I prefer the lamb(and the combo options) at Famous more. They lose points for not having any sumac(that I could see) for the rice, but gain points for their delish Afghan salad. It’s minced cucumber, tomato, and onion, mixed with some lemon juice, olive oil, and seasoning. It’s awesome to add to some meat on the naan, but also great plain. I was stuffed but still couldn’t stop eating it! The wife and I are happy to find a new kabob place in town with some different options. If we’re on this side of M-town and craving kabobs, we’re going to GKX.
