I have been going to this Hancock Fabric store for years and always loved it! Within the past 6 months or so it has gone right down from a 5 Star to 1 Star. Dirty, Cluttered & Disorganized — not as clear and organized as it always was, selection, especially of quilting fabrics is decreased dramatically! Staff changes seem to add to the unpleasant experience that once was a wonderful place to go. Last night they were just standing around talking, unhelpful, they were pleasant, but not very helpful or knowledgeable as the others used to be. …now I will have to find someone to drive me to Woodbridge to go to JoAnn’s.

Since Jo-Ans left Manassas, this is the last of the big chain fabric stores. I am always happy with the selection of fabrics, and array of supplies, notions, all things sewing. Racks of batting, decorator fabrics, home fabrics, crafts, ribbons, you name it. Very reasonable pricing, for large selection of quilting cottons, and new stock in all the time. Everytime I go, I see bolts that have the masking tape holding the fabric secure, and know it just came in. I enjoy making the first purchase off these bolts. My only negative is there is usually a few people in front of my at the cutting table. Often the girl helping cut fabric, is also the cashier. She cuts your fabric, rings the sale, and you wait for her to finish with that customer to get your fabric cut. The previous manager Robin was just the best, great long time sewer with a wealth of knowledge that even blew away my decades of sewing knowledge. Sorry to see her retire, she kept the store and racks of fabric, neat as a pin. With great sales and coupons, you can get a deal every day of the year.

LOTS of fat quarter selection! Store is well organized and staff is very friendly. I’ll definitely shop here more often for my crafting needs.

My mom has been doing a lot of quilting lately, and when I visited her for the holidays, she asked me to drive about 45 minutes past 3 JoAnn Fabrics stores to go to Hancock Fabrics. When we got to Hancock Fabrics I could see why she liked it so much. Whoever does their buying does a great job, and I saw tons of adorable print fabrics that I had never seen at JoAnn’s. The rack of NFL team fabrics was particularly comprehensive with lots of non-local teams, and the store’s sales racks were teeming with good stuff. The staff seemed to all be experienced sewers/quilters who knew the store inside and out. Gail, who helped us at the cutting table, was super sweet; for example, she knew my mom was quilting, so before cutting she would check to ensure that the cut of fabric my mom had requested would get a good representative slice of the fabric’s pattern on it(for example, not cutting off a sock monkey’s head). They also honor competitor’s coupons, and my mom used a JoAnn coupon at the register. They’re well worth a visit!

Sale prices are great. Selection is good. Employees are SUPER! If you are looking for fabric that is pretty basic this is a good place to go. You won’t find anything AMAZING here but for the basics… this is the place to go. Other stores have super long cutting lines b/c the cutters are way to chatty… I have not experienced this here at all.
