This place never answers their phone. I stopped by during the «store hours» that was posted on its doors and it was closed. The good reviews seem like B.S. and are inflated. 5 stars??? Really?

I witnessed the owner throw a 70+year old women out of his shop after he refused to correct the over drilling of her ball he had drilled. When my husband spoke up for the elderly lady and suggested he work with her on solving the problem the owner J R told my husband to get out of his store too. What ever happened to «customer is always right» and good customer service? In my 56 years of life I have never witnessed an owner of a business be so disrespectful and unwilling to work out the the problem.

I went in to J.R. earlier today to get my ball I ordered online drilled. Since it was my first ball, I didn’t know a whole lot of what goes into the decision making in purchasing a new ball, but J.R. was extremely knowledgeable and gave great insight on all the aspects of what goes into choosing a ball, price, grip, etc. Really honest and genuine. Definitely going back for my 2nd ball. Would recommend.

JR is very honest and knowledgeable. I went there yesterday for the first time, and he made sizing adjustments to my bowling ball for free. He also said that I didn’t need a new ball just yet, instead of simply trying to sell me a new one. He has earned a new loyal customer with me.

JR is great. I drive an hour out to his store to get my bowling balls. Ever notice when you go into your pro shop and they have the same balls in there. Not the case with JR he gets some of the latest balls from DV8, Ebonite, storm and others. He knows exactly how these balls are going play for you too.
I bought a Columbia Freeze from JR. The way he drills makes it alot easier for me to turn over and do less work to have great movement. I got my ball from him mid april and my scores have gone up 20 plus points. He knows his stuff while giving his honest opinion so you don’t spend alot of money.

It’s been more than 20 years since I bowled with any kind of regularity. Most specialty shops make me feel very uncomfortable for not having the proper amount of knowledge when you go into them. JR’s is very different. He understands that people are new to bowling or returning to it, and he’s patient enough to go through all the options and give you honest opinion about what will best suit your wants and needs. My fiancée and I got to his shop about 30 minutes before he closed for the day and he stayed an extra hour going through everything, answering pretty much any question that we asked. Excellent place, I hope he’s here for a very long time.

I had the opportunity to visit this store today. Bowling shops are few and far between in the DC Metro area and I was happy to see that one had opened in my neighborhood as I was in need of a new bowling ball.
The owner, JR, is very knowledgeable about all things bowling and helped me pick out the right ball for me, making recommendations, and then drilling it for a comfortable fit.
The store is large with a great selection of equipment. Everything you need in one place. They offer lessons as well (which I might do since the price was reasonable).
This is why I like to shop small business and local. I always get great, knowledgeable service when I do.
