This dermatology office is listed under the spa aspect of the practice only, Piel Med Spa, but I want to bring attention to the entire practice referred to under the umbrella of Nelson Dermatology. Do not go here! I had an awful experience at this practice. I contacted the office due to a skin rash on my chest. Dr. Nelson’s available appointments were weeks away, so I agreed to see her nurse practitioner, Judy. The first appointment was brief and I was given a topical steroid that took care of the rash. I asked about getting a full body scan because I have many freckles, moles, and sun damage. I saw her again about a week later. The check was fine, however she found one mole where she wanted to take a biopsy. I asked her about a rash on my right leg also at that visit, and she said to change soap and lotion, so I did. Several days later, I came back for my biopsy. The nurse who was nice, asked why I was there when she lead me to my room. I told her Judy wanted to scrape a mole on my thigh. As I was waiting, the doors are very thin, I heard Judy ranting to the nurse about why I was there. The nurse explained and Judy started barking about how she had no record in her previous report that I needed to come back. She was yelling, why is she here, I just saw her, I have nothing in my records about a mole. I even heard her say, «I normally keep very good records.» She comes barging in the room, drilling me about why I was there. She said I don’t scrape moles. Well perhaps I had the terminology wrong, I’m not a dermatologist, but I had to show her the mole she wanted to «biopsy». Thankfully I remembered which one because it looks like all the other ones that cover my body. She looked, and said oh, yes, it needs to be biopsied. She was so flustered, rude, and unprofessional. I think she was annoyed with herself for not having the record of the biopsy and she took her frustration out on me and the nurse. The process took maybe 5 minutes. I began to ask about the rash on my right thigh again, but realized when I looked up she was half way out the door. The nurse had to call her back in the room using her name. When she came back and heard my question, she said I was just there, it had only been a few days, and«She could not comment on that at this time. I have no comment». And out the door she went. I was told I would get a call either way about the biopsy in two weeks. Three weeks go by, no call. I called the first time and was told the report was not sent. The office assistant said she would look into it and call me back. I got a call back on my voicemail saying the biopsy was nothing to worry about, not cancerous, but I needed to come back for a deeper tissue sample. I call the office to decipher the different stories. They said they would get back to me. So I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Nelson in her office for answers. Before my appointment I received another voicemail from Dr. Nelson saying my biopsy was normal and I didn’t need to come back for 6 months. So I’m not sure if I need more digging, or if I’m fine. I went to the office, got my records, including pathology report, and plan on following up elsewhere. Dr. Nelson did apologize on my voicemail for Judy’s behavior saying she’s new, and they’re still trying to figure out if Judy is a «good fit». All I wanted was to explain the mistreatment and unprofessionalism of her nurse practitioner and get a conclusive answer about my biopsy. She didn’t give me the chance. I don’t think Judy is a «good fit», and she reflects poorly on you and your practice Dr. Nelson! By the way, weeks later, my rash from«bad soap and lotion» on my right thigh is still there.
