PLEASEBEWARE!!! Just had the worst moving out customer service experience ever. First let me start off with Teresa, the manager… very unprofessional, rude and makes up her own rules. I’m not sure why she works there because she seems to hate her job. I moved out of my storage unit today and had one item that I could not take with me. The item is a wood armoire wardrobe that was very expensive and in perfect condition. It’s been barely used since it’s been in storage for almost 5 years(with this Uhaul facility). I am unable to take it with me since I do not have room for it anymore. I also did not want to trash it since it’s still in perfect condition and I’m sure someone else could use it. Uhaul has an area where they accept«gently used furnishings, apparel and other household items». So I decided to leave my armoire there for someone else to love it. Upon closing out Teresa informed me that I would be charged $ 50(that amount eventually increased to $ 280…told you she makes up her own rules) to dispose the item. She then told me the item had to be able to fit in the«white box”(The white box that clearly says gently worn shoes and clothes only). I asked her to please show me in writing where it says the furnishing must fit in the white box or must be certain size or dimension. She replied«show me where it doesn’t say that»(true story). I was in awe by her response so I requested the«rule» in writing again. I also reiterated what the Uhaul sign read. She again told me I would have to pay a disposal fee since«she» would have to pay to have the item disposed. I again reiterated that the Uhaul sign does not indicate the furnishing has to be a certain size and that it also says FREE. She then demanded the young lady assisting me to not close me out. I requested her manager’s information to which she gave me her card and very rudely told me it was on the back of the card. By now I was very upset because I knew she was lying and not capable of producing any written correspondence that confirms her claims that obviously we’re made up. And she’s still refusing to close me out. We were at a stand-off. After I advised I would be placing a call to her management she finally directs the young lady to close me out and«e-list me»(not sure what that meant…) and also tells me she’s gonna take a hammer to my amoire and get rid of it herself…(yep still a true story… I cannot make this up). If e-list me means to never allow me to be a customer of Uhaul after being a customer for almost 5 years… than go ahead… e-list me. I’m quite sure I’ll be okay. There’s 50 other storage places that I can use in the future and I’m positive will be happy to have me as a customer. And if she were smart(yeah I said it) she should put the item on CraigsList to make extra money. I originally wanted to put my amoire on CraigsList. Unfortunately I’m in a time crunch and have nowhere to store it until it’s sold without paying another month of storage… and dealing with Teresa. No thank you.(I’m just saying). I ended up finally closing out and I called Wayne(manager) to describe my horrible experience. He agreed that the point of the share area is for exactly how I used it and advised me he would talk with Teresa. So PLEASEBEAWARE!!! If you’re told there’s a fee to «share» or «dispose» your gently used furnishing or other household items… do not fall for it. Please see pics to confirm.

We have rented here many times over the past ten years. The only time I had a problem was in 2005 when they installed trailer brake wiring for my mini-van. When I picked up my travel trailer, they had to re-do the wiring because it wasn’t done right here at the UHaul store, and you kinda assume since trailering is their main business that they should know what they are doing with hitches and wiring. We have rented 5x8s, 6×12s, for many small moves, and a flatbed auto«transporter» to move my Smart Car this past week to our new residence. They secured the car to the trailer and did all trailer hookups in each case(hitch, safety chains, wiring). They make sure all the lights are working(connected properly) too. All trailer rentals were handled professionally and everything went smoothly. They offer supplementary gap(damage) insurance but don’t make it a hard sell. However, I would say that if you want«convenience» items like moving boxes, look to Wal-Mart(Manassas Mall) and Lowes/Home Depot because they have them 50% lower in price.
