And in the desert, an oasis appears. And it is good. We have worked with a lot of subcontractors in the last year. And In this vast miasma of subcontractors that didn’t show up on time, didn’t return, didn’t do what they promised, and didn’t stand still long enough for me to get a clear shot at them, one stands out as what you wish all the rest could be. The Bamboo Crew. They build great cabinets. Really, truly great cabinets. But wait, there’s more. When we were deciding on cabinet builders we narrowed the list down to 4. One got a terrible review from a friend that had used them in the past. One was so argumentative on the phone that we dropped them. One wanted to teach us about the atomic structure of the glue he used, but didn’t want to show us examples of his work. And then we found Jarrett and Bamboo Crew. Jarrett returned our call promptly, set up an appointment at our home because that was the most convenient for us, arrived when he promised, and clearly laid out our choices and a general idea of price. We gave him our requirements, and he worked us up a quote in a few days. We changed a few things and added some things and he took it all in stride. He told us when he thought he’d be done with the cabinets and we factored that into our home building schedule. That’s the nuts and bolts. But he also showed us different types of wood. We wanted to look at bamboo because it is a sustainable wood(or more accurately grass) product if harvested responsibly. He showed us his supply and how beautiful it can be if worked properly. We loved that. He’ll work in any wood you choose, he just likes to use bamboo. All his glues and stains are low to no VOC and no toxic resins are ever used. All that’s great of course, but the final proof is in the finished product. It is beautiful! He is an artist when it comes to joining grain so that it appears to be one long sheet of bamboo. Our cabinets are all matched to give a beautiful long grain view. We had European style cabinets and drawers, with little or no gap between the fronts, and he lined them up beautifully. Even the non bamboo cabinets he did for us were beautiful. He matched the grain on a paint grade cabinet so well that we honestly didn’t want to paint it. This says volumes about his commitment to building beautiful things. And on top of all this he is a great guy to work with. We had the soft close option put in for the kitchen cabinets and I recommend it. Very handy. Jarrett also did our hallway doors and made them match the premade doors perfectly. Honestly, he is half craftsman, half artist. To sum up: Extraordinary quality cabinets, very easy to work with, great look, great construction, very reasonable pricing, good delivery time, good installation time, and enough care taken to make every drawer and cabinet work trouble free for years. Bamboo Crew is a lock for 5 stars.
