Wait staff was inattentive and got our order wrong. When expressed a preference, the waiter shrugged and walked away. Food was made with good quality ingredients, however, the combination was tasteless. Far too expensive for the low level of service and poorly thought out menu.

We were passing through town on our way home, and had not eaten here for years. The last time we ate here, it was not good. Our latest experience was the same, not good. The restaurant was busier outside than inside, so we decided to sit inside. There were 2 servers inside, which I felt was very manageable to the number of full tables. Overall, the server was nice, but terribly slow, made a mistake with one of our drinks, and the food we ordered was good, but again, slow(a salad was ordered). We sat down just after 3-people, and they received their hot food way before we received ours. Overall, great ambiance for a Mexican restaurant, but the overall service is still not great. Oh well, we gave it another chance, and it failed, yet again.

A nice setting to sit outside on a warm day. Food is standard Mexican. They did a nice job with the garden outside.

This restaurant has great food but service is slow. The corn and flour chips are mixed together so you cannot order gluten free chips. Seems overpriced for the okay food and slow service.

Really great! Excellent kids menu with giant portions and ice cream sundaes included! Vast and diverse menu. Guacamole with two types of homemade chips was amazing! Diced vs smooshed avacado. Very nicely done. Our waitress was lovely and timed water and follow ups perfectly… Best waitress I’ve had in a very long time! Atmosphere was great. Tv and small bar for watching the games. Ample parking in back and on street. Only note is that the bathrooms were up a narrow staircase. This place is a sure thing! Kids burrito with pork was perfect. Kids chicken and fries were ok. Tacos good. Mexican cobb salad amazing!

Didn’t like it at all. Service was pretty bad, with plenty of excuses as to why they were slow, or why we had to wait.(«Oh, I was talking an old friend», «oh, a former employee just stopped by so we were chatting, etc») Non apologetic and very Inattentive. Food was below average. Ordered the buffalo chicken quesadilla-dizza…awful. Sauce was a mix of low grade barbecue and buffalo… just a waste of 12 bucks. Guacamole was really just tomatoes and avacado… no seasoning or cilantro. Overall, disappointing. Plenty of other places to try for a quick lunch if your in town for a few days. If you must try Mexican in Vermont, consider Cilantro Taco.

A very enjoyable experience. The restaurant is very cozy and relaxed. The food was very good. I ordered the veggie fajita dish and it was the right amount of food and very tasty. My husband ordered the smokehouse chicken with mole sauce that was excellent. The salsa was great. This chips are a little weird. Overall thumbs up.

Mediocre food. Good sangria. Guacamole was fair. Fajitas were adequate at best. Overpriced.

Stale chips but fresh salsa. Good mole enchiladas but the black beans were undercooked. Server never mentioned ½ price margaritas as was advertised in local dining guide. Please serve fresh chips in the future even if you have to charge extra for them!

Not really impressed. Pork tacos lacked flavor and the chips where too flakey, like a cracker. Seems like it could be a cool place.

Thankfully, We had a better experience last night with our out of town guest. Presentation was excellent — except on the burger– which was served on a warm plate with salad– a BIG no-no for salad! But the meat was tasty and the salad dressing(cilantro vinaigrette was good). They had pricey special margaritas. I liked the Mixed Berry very much, although quite sweet. My brother and husband enjoyed their filling meals of beef enchiladas and chicken burrito. Service was pretty terrible. We had 4 – 5 different servers, but no one asked us if we wanted more drinks halfway through the meal… so we gave up. We waited far too long for our check. For me, it’s all about the food, so i will not deduct a star for poor service.

We have come here for years, and I keep coming back for the home made baked nachos and their mole enchiladas. Their margaritas are also great even though I default to a local beer most of the time. Ouside seating is nice in the summer, the room with the bar is cozy and service good. The 4 stars comes from the ‘overflow rooms’ they use when they are busy, where both décor and service seem to lack. On the way out I have picked up some if their himemade BBQ sauce, and I think you can get their nachos as well.

Not happy with my experience whatsoever. The staff had to no sense of urgency to make sure that we were enjoying everything. The enchilada sauce was literally like tomato sauce. Will not be coming back

Five stars for the waitress we had. It was a busy night for outdoor seating and she tended to us(and seemingly everyone else) with grace and humor. The food was ‘meh’. We ordered the layer dip and fajitas. The layer dip was pretty delicious. We plowed through an entire SECOND basket of those famous chips. The fajitas were a disappointment. Way too much rub/seasoning on my shrimp, and the first skirt steak had to be sent back as it was almost charcoal it was so overcooked. The side accompaniments(lettuce, salsa, cheese, beans) were okay, but my favorite part of the fajita — the grilled peppers and onions — were so burnt to the hot stone they came out on they looked like little frizzled match sticks. This was our first night in town and there seems to be plenty of better options(cuisine-wise), but in terms of service, we were really very pleased.

We had the guacamole as an appetizer, it was OK, not enough spices. As main course we had the skirt stake with was very good, and their BBQ special was very good too. Mexican flan was OK. Mango margaritas is highly recommended.

Our family really enjoys this place. We discovered it last year while driving by. Our windows we down and the smell was so good we had to turn around. It’s got a fun Mexican-ish-like atmosphere and a rounded menu that includes burgers and«pizza». We’ve tried a few different things between our various visits and have been pleased with everything we’ve had. The portions are generous enough that some dishes could easily feed two people. They provide water when you are seated and a complimentary basket of chips with salsa. Only real draw back it the bathrooms are on the second floor. I’m not sure if they provide handicap accessible facilities on the ground floor(not personally needing them, I didn’t ask). They outside seating is really nice and they have two room inside plus the bar area. Big plus, we were able to make a reservation!

Disappointed. I was excited because I’m a fan of the chips and was treated to a basket mixed with the famed flakey chips and some corn ones. Ordered large guacamole and fajitas. The guac was fresh, but felt like it was missing components because it was tasteless. There was no garlic, but there were tomatoes, white onion bits, and a little cilantro; I guess that counts for something? Salt shaker was used liberally, still wasn’t enough because i. Fajita had been cooked well, and the meat was delicious. The sides included a plate with guacamole, refried beans, and lettuce. Guacamole was visibly brown compared to the fresh batch dolloped in the stone bowl and actually tasted like salt may have been used in it. Red onion was in the old batch, white onion in the new one. Don’t know how they think I wouldn’t notice. Beans were the worst part. I found bits of rice and part of a French fry there. Although I was thrown off by the discovery, I tried the beans and it tasted sweet and a little savory. Service was slow too, but the menu already disclaimers that the place takes its time. It lived up to it by taking ten to fifteen minutes to even get the check when it seemed so slow going; to be fair, maybe the kitchen is a warzone – they were catering a few snow-loving tourist groups – but no one seemed to move around like it reflected that. I tipped less despite my dissatisfaction, but in retrospect feel like I still overtipped at 15 percent because this did not even feel like a 15 percent effort. Congrats Gringo’s, you encouraged me to start a Unilocal account. Please try harder in case your chips convince me to try again.

My first experience with Gringo Jacks was fantastic! That was last year some time. I was there again last night and it was terrible. The food was BLANDBLANDBLAND. It looked so tasty yet it was filled with no flavor. it gets an B for presentation but the lack of flavor just ruined the entire experience. I hope this place can step their game back up to the gringos of the past.

Not bad. This place is more Tex-Mex than Mexican. The menu has tacos, enchiladas, burritos… etc…but also has ribs and other«Texas-inspired» fare. Good sized menu — lots of choices. The nachos are really interesting — instead of corn tortillas, I believe they are made with flour… a little greasy, salty and tasty. Salsa is decent and the guacamole was good(we had a small side of it). I had the shrimp tacos — they were pretty good. A little greasy, but they had good flavor. One of my dining companions had the tacos — which she liked… and the other had the chicken mole(good reviews there as well). The overall vibe of the place is festive and the staff was friendly/helpful/cool. Prices are decent… maybe a little higher than normal.
