$ 100+ for wet tangled hair and a very unimpressive color job? No thanks. I was so surprised at how disappointing this appointment was seeing how previously I had a great experience. This time, however, was absolutely awful. I left so upset, rushed out because of poor timing with hair that was completely knotted and in a bun. I felt incredibly disrespected as a person of color at the complete lack of knowledge of how to style my hair, and for the price I paid the experience was abysmal. I have absolutely zero interest in ever returning, and will be seeking better quality salons elsewhere.

I had a great experience at this salon with Kendra. Kendra is a doll! She listened to me, my concerns with my hair and I felt like we were on the same page. Here’s my hair story, My hair is over processed and short but like any brunette I want to be blonde. Kendra took my hair quality and hair desire into account. I came out Carmel golden blonde, with my hair intact and beautiful. I will be seeing Kendra again.

Called around 2pm asking for a cut and color the same night, assuming they wouldn’t have any availability since I’m so last minute but they were able to squeeze me in. The salon itself is very cute and clean and I love the style — huge mirrors, high ceilings and spacious.
Victoria was my stylist and right off the bat I had a great feeling that I was going to leave happy. She offered me a glass of wine and she went to work on my color which we decided on together, she was really helpful as to what color I could go for based on my current shade.
We went back upstairs to rinse and shampoo and omg, best rinse ever. It sounds silly but I always look forward to the shampoo/​conditioner part of getting my hair done because I love the head massage and Victoria did a
job!
The conversation throughout my visit was always continuous and great, Victoria was so personable and fun, it felt like I was chatting with a longtime friend!
She used great products and was very meticulous with my cut, making sure every strand was perfect. I absolutely love the color and style and I’m so excited to have found a solid salon and stylist so close to my house!

just went here for the first time after moving to manchester in august. heather was my stylist and she did a great job! i just wanted a trim and some longer layers, but she made it look so bouncy and full and pretty. we also had a nice chat! i will definitely come back here for another cut :)

I have been going to April for years now but my looks have changed a lot. She is always keeping up with current styles and I love that about her! I love to color my hair as well as cut and style it and she has brought me from black to blond and everything in between. Thank you April please never retire I don’t know what we would ever do without you!

Happened to be teaching in Manchester, NH and had a few minutes on my way to Salon Centric so I called and was able to get a pedicure with Jess. She was very pleasant and accommodating. Loved relaxing after my plane ride! And, my toesies look good for Ft Myers too!

I am not from the Manchester area but my fiancè wanted to get our engagement pictures taken close to where he went to school. I was very nervous putting my face and hair in the hands of people I have never met. But I love my hair and make-​up! Sam did my blowout and it was adorable/​perfect. Jenna did my make-​up and I normally do not wear make-​up. She did a fantastic job listening to what I wanted and not making me look weird. Overall it was a great experience and I am thankful I look awesome for our pictures!

I so wanted to like this place! When I called to make my appointment the person I spoke with was so professional and polite. Unfortunately as a first time client they gave me an appointment with an «associate». I wish they had informed me that this was a newer employee that worked under another stylist. My hair is now a hot mess! My roots don’t match the rest of my hair and my cut is far from what I was going for.

Moved from out of state and was looking for a reliable place to cut not only my hair but my family’s as well. I made an appt. for me and my daughter over the internet. They have a great location. When we arrived, my daughter didn’t get the girl she requested. With no explanation why, she didn’t have the person she selected online but got a young girl who was in training. Her haircut wasn’t what she was looking for. Mine was adequate. From there is went downhill with scheduling. The next appt. we made they cancelled my daughters appt. ½ hr. before she was due to arrive, with the explanation that the girl was having «personal issues». (P.s. we live 40 minutes away from this place.) This happened a few more times and we never bothered to go back. Seems that they need to work on their professionalism.

Wow … All I can say is I love my new cut… Heather did a fantastic job, very professional and super talanted. This salon is upscale and everyone is very friendly. I finally found a great stylist already booked my next appointment.

Heather is amazing. Been coming for 6 mos now. So hard to find a colorist who can make a greying man’s hair color look natural and not like shoe polish. Excellent talented stylist and haircutter. Comfortable homey atmosphere, friendly staff, & awesome location. Consistent results too!

I have been coming here since 2010 and have never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and they do whatever they can to accommodate and make sure you are comfortable. Jenn is the best. I have thick, obnoxious hair, and every time I arrive completely unhappy with my hair, I leave feeling like a brand new person. I have and will continue to recommend 26^th on Hanover to anyone! Keep doing what your doing ladies.

I almost don’t want to review this place because I want to keep it a secret!
Courtney cut my hair today and did an awesome job! After growing out a bad cut from another local salon it was definitely time for a change!
Courtney’s consultation was probably one of the best I’ve had. I showed her some pics of what I wanted, and she asked questions to make sure that not only did I get what I wanted, but that I got a cut that I could live in and live with.
By the way, just met up with some friends for dinner and already received compliments on my cut from random strangers! :D. I will be going back!

The reason negative ratings exist. I did read the other one star rating here on Unilocal and figured perhaps it was a fluke, as there are so many 5 stars. Unfortunately I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I booked appointments for my daughter and myself to get haircuts. We both have extremely thick, curly/​wavy hair and before actually booking the appointments, I explained in detail exactly what I was looking for — a very experienced stylist with extensive training and experience debulking thick hair without thinning shears and very long layers without any blunt lines. Although I do not recall who took the call, I was assured that «…their stylists could definitely handle that. No problem.» I was so excited!
What we got were two stylists who were «recent graduates from cosmetology school» who are in an «associate program» with the salon. Unfortunately, I didn’t know that either until I saw their names on the website after the fact.
Both cuts required the help of two other senior staff on 3 separate occasions. I started out almost all one length, very long hair, passed the middle of my back with shorter side swept bangs and now have literally 4 extreme, sharp chunks taken out of the sides of my hair that do not blend on ANY level. (Picture the silhouette of a Christmas Tree!!) Somehow the back seems to have been cut right. The senior stylist is the one who, while obviously aggravated with either the original stylist or myself, cut the huge chunks out of my hair. The left side is beyond help and will need to grow out before it can be fixed, not to mention it doesn’t match the right side AT ALL.
To be clear, my stylist was kind, sweet and had a good sense of humor, which is why I lightly tipped her. Unfortunately for me and any other clients, she simply isn’t ready for advanced cuts like the one I’d asked for WHILE BOOKING THE APPOINTMENT.
My daughters haircut seems to have been cut fine (a slightly inverted, shoulder length bob which began as all one length to the middle of her back) and although I explained to her stylist that she wears it natural, with her curls air dried as well as showing pictures before we began, I looked over to see her hair blown out and curled under. No exaggeration, she looked George Washington. I had to tell the stylist twice that I didn’t like it before she rinsed the hair again, then used a defuser attachment to dry it.
Final result? Two $ 25 haircuts ($ 25 haircuts??? That price isn’t even on the salons website! Cuts range from $ 33 to $ 62! I’m a firm believer in getting what we pay for. Had I wanted to chance a $ 25 cut, I’d have went to Fantastic Sams or a cosmetology school!
Lets not forget the $ 10 parking ticket because while all that was going on (TWO HOURS and 15 MINUTES!!), my meter ran out on Hanover Street. I tried to get a partial refund today by the owner and was DENIED. I was asked to come back in so, «…we can try to fix it.»
Never again. Beware.

Had the pleasure of seeing Cortney today :) I’m new to the area so relied on Unilocal to find a salon. Called up 26^th (last minute before going home for the holidays) and they got me in the next day which was great and exactly what I needed! Let’s take it from the top: walking in the salon is cute and welcoming and I love being offered coffee right away. The whole staff was welcoming and nice and Cortney is an absolute doll! I ask a million questions and she was just great!
On to the hair! Bottom line — love it!
Here’s why: I definitely abuse my hair with the blow dryer and *gulp* the straightener. Even worse, I have been known to try to box color my own hair *Horror movie sound effects*. Cortney was able to make my hair look so healthy and shiny AND give me awesome even color to hide all of my hair sins, amazing! I also really appreciated her knowledge of products and I really loved her explaining her style techniques to help recreate the look at home! Because really, don’t we all want to look like we came out of the hair salon everyday? Yes!
So, super cute, professional and highly recommended :)

The salon has behaved extremely unprofessionally. They have used passive-​aggressive techniques to deal with an issue with my haircut. For a Redken ambassador salon, I have found it appalling how it has dealt with me to the point that I find it discriminatory. After I had it done by Jenn, I came home and realized there is a problem area. I called in and left a note requesting her to return the call. I just wanted to consult a possible way to deal with– be it either a touch up or letting it grow and taking care of it later.
Not only did the stylist, Jennifer, never call me back, I got an email from the owner, April, stating that I «try somewhere else. Unfortunately,[they] are not the right salon for [me].» Why? No explanation.
Not that I am dying over it, but it is disturbing that no reason or discussion of it is given.
If they can’t take constructive criticism, I am not sure what they are doing in this business. It’s understandable that something didn’t go right the first time. I was willing to work with them to fix it, but they weren’t. Is this a way you deal with your customers? I don’t think so. It’s extremely unprofessional.

Brittany did a fantastic job on my super short hair.
The length and style of my hair requires that I have it cut every 4 – 5 weeks. With all the hair cuts I have had to endure, 26^th on Hanover has done, by far, the best.
I will be traveling to Manchester, from Boston, to get my hair cut when needed!

They not only do everyday hair but they do hair and makeup for weddings and special occasions. They also have a mani and pedi room downstairs!
If you are thinking of changing hair stylists or need to find one, call them! You won’t be disappointed.
