Great food. A little spicy for the uninitiated but not super spicy. Curry goat and chicken were on point. Need to go back and try the oxtail. Service was a little slow but it was late and just b4 closing so I understand.

I could be here typing all day about how much I love this place. I live in Meriden and refuse to travel to Waterbury for anything, let alone food. So I came on here and found this place. I was not disappointed at all! Their food is very fresh and the portion sizes are generous and worth the price. I would say though, I go and get my food as early as I can. Maybe an hour after they open, even if I don’t want the food until later. EVERYtime that I’ve visited this location in the afternoon hours I run into a younger girl working the place whom isn’t very friendly. Also they are usually out of my favorites(ox tail & pepper steak). All in all this place has never failed me when I’m craving my favorite Jamaican dish. If you haven’t already and you’re a fan of this food, you have to try this place! You won’t regret it! :)

Good: oxtails Bad: I asked for a piece of fried chicken — thigh and got a piece of breast. I showed the cashier my meat and asked for thigh again, and she says that they don’t sell breast, implying I’m wrong or lying. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know white meat from dark meat. Very disappointing that she was so dismissive and rude

I’ve been here several times already. I have tried their jerk chicken, curried goat, beef patties, and fried plantains. I wasn’t impressed with the quality of the plantains, possibly because that was sitting out on their shelf for a while and had became slightly soggy. However, everything else I tried was flavorful. Also, they give great portions for the meals. Will definitely visit again!

Was my first visit here so wanted to start with the basics: jerk chicken and a beef patty. Both were really, really. Chicken had a great flavor and the beefy patty was excellent with just the right amount of spice(you’ll notice it for sure). Meal comes with generous helpings of rice and beans that they pour a little bit of sauce on which is awesome. Veggies available also. Will be back to try their other offerings. Ox tail looked intriguing…

Nothing fancy. Just authentic, flavorful Jamaican cuisine. I’m a VERY picky eater but decided to give this place a try after passing it dozens of times. I ordered the Oxtail with a side of rice & peas. Both the Oxtail and rice were very good… veggies were bland and undercooked :(but aside from that all the menu items that I’ve tried since were delicious

Solid jerk chicken. And the beef patty was OUTOFTHISWORLD. Very spicy but that’s how I like it. The veggies and rice are good as well. I will return :)

Stopped by yesterday with a friend on my lunch for the first time to satisfy a craving for Jamaican food and I must say I wasn’t too thrilled with it. I got a plate of jerked chicken, white rice and steamed veggies. My chicken was so tender to the point where it pretty much shredded all over my rice whenever I tried grabbing on it. I like a nice firm texture to my chicken, not too tender but not hard either. Also my chicken really lacked spice and while the seasoning was great in flavor never had I had non spicy jerk chicken till now. The rice was also a tiny bit on the mushy side but doable. One thing I was completely satisfied with was the veggies and the customer service given by the lady at the counter. I frequent many Jamaican restaurants and usually they’re so serious they never smile and seem to hate the world. Not this one, she smiled and talked! While making my plate I asked for white rice instead of rice and peas so she went to the back to get it because what was left in the front was old or not enough I guess. That was very nice of her. All in all, it’s not a bad spot. Maybe I caught it at a time the food was just sitting idle for some time.

This restaurant does have decent food but not a very wide selection their was only 6 things on the menu and 2 of those 6 meals they didn’t have. Other than that the door food was good for what it cost and the service was also good. But when it comes down to it your better off going to another Jamaican restaurant in Hartford.

The food here is always amazing. Jerk chicken is never dry and perfectly seasoned. Signed up for Unilocal for one reason to let everyone know how awesome their food is. Seriously I eat hear like twice a week. The staff is so nice portions are enormous and price is reasonable!

The location is great – Anthony’s is in the same mini-mall as Stop & Shop, so I like to come before or after grocery shopping. I’ve had various jerk dishes and a meat patty here. The portions are large and the flavor suited me. The owners could spruce up the ambiance a bit for customers who want to sit, but this restaurant is more about the take-out and the food.

I had a medium jerk chicken plate — the portion was huge and had great flavor. The chicken shredded off the bone which was awesome and the veggies were crisp. Disappointed they didn’t have the plantains today(they said they weren’t ripe enough so I respect that, focusing on quality!) and the jerk could have been a little spicier. Overall, food was great and awesome value, currently using the leftovers for jerk tacos! I will definitely be back.

Great place for a quick fix for Jamaican food. It’s good home cooking at its best. We order to go. You can call ahead and they have it ready for you to pick. The portions are great and big, enough for leftovers. Our go to are the jerk pork, jerk chicken, goat and oxtail. The food is not super spicy(hot kind) but has really great flavor and really taste good. Things run out quickly so you have to go earlier in the day, like the plantains. It’s a small family owned restaurant on a strip mall. The Owner is nice and friendly. This a nice option for takeout when you are sick of Chinese and pizza.

Wow, this place blew me away! The first time my boyfriend and I tried to eat here, it was Sunday and it was closed, but we tried again last night, and it was totally worth it. Every bite of food we had was delicious. Since it was my boyfriend’s first time eating Jamaican food, the guy at the counter(who also might have been the owner) offered us some samples, and while everything was tasty and seriously addicting(I couldn’t stop eating the sample!), we decided on a large order of the jerk pork and a large order of the jerk chicken. Both portions of meat were ridiculously generous and seriously tasty. The jerk spices weren’t very spicy, but they were still super flavorful. Both came with enormous helpings of rice and beans that the guy doused in yummy juices from the meat, as well as some cabbage and peppers. We also got a beef patty, and it was gone within seconds. Two of them would make a very satisfying meal. Unfortunately, the fried plantains were all out by the time we were there, but we will definitely be back early next time to try them! Can I mention again how large the portions were? My boyfriend can put away a serious amount of food, and we managed to get two very sizable meals out of the two large portions we ordered. One large order is enough for three meals for a normal person, and they were about $ 8 each. The restaurant looks clean, and the guy at the counter was very kind. It’s our biggest regret that we discovered this hidden gem right as we prepare to move, but this place is worth making a trip back. If you live anywhere in this state, I highly recommend this place!

Finally got to try this place. It is a great little takeout place for Authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the jerk chicken and it was great. The meat falls off the bone and the spice is pretty nice. Not spicy but very flavorful. Rice and beans were average. My favorite was definitely the beef Jamaican patties. The beef patties did have a spicy kick that I loved! Will definitely buy some more and also try the other dishes like the curry or ox tail.

My first time ever having Jamaican food and it was delicious!!! I had the small portion of the jerk chicken that comes with beans and rice and it was sooo yummy! The chicken had a spicy kick to it which in my case(love spicy food) made it even more delicious!!! The atmosphere is very nice, you get to listen to reggae music while eating your food! Overall I would recommend this place if your looking for some Jamaican food, it’s really good and you get a lot for your money, I had the small and could to even finish!

Had the jerk chicken which was possibly the best I’ve had yet. It falls off the bone like any good bbq, cooked low and slow, very moist with a good spicy kick. Comes with rice and beans which were also very well seasoned, & cabbage. I can’t wait to go back for the curry goat or codfish & ackee.

Located right next to my gym, I’d go here when my arms can’t lift a spatula. The awesomeness of their jerk chicken makes me forget about all the soreness in my body. Great seasoning and not overwhelmingly spicy. The rice and vegetables goes well with the chicken. The portions are pretty good. I could eat a large plate in one sitting, which means it could serve two normal people. The owners are very friendly. Great place to come to!
