Fantastic food, spectacular service(thank you Steven!) and great atmosphere. I will definitely be back. Steven was such a huge help in guiding us through the menu since it was our first time eating there. Perfect suggestions were made for our mood and our tastes, thank you again Steven!

I love Vietnamese food and it’s really good for an affordable price at most places but this is one place where the food doesn’t compare to some of my favorites and is overpriced. Yes, it’s closer to my home but I go to Le’s in East Hartford for the best Vietnamese style food. Don’t get me wrong, the food was good here but not worth the price. Some of my favorite things are like fresh spring rolls, and phở soup, also iced coffee is a good treat.

This place is amazing; I can’t stress this enough! My husband and I visited not too long ago and everything was great. Our waiters were very friendly and had some wonderfully detailed menu suggestions. Our food was amazing. I had the Phở with beef, shrimp and meatballs and my husband had the Salmon in a clay pot. We both left feeling wonderfully full without feeling that too — full gross feeling. Our meal was simple and healthy, hot and perfectly seasoned, cooked to perfection! We will be regulars from now on.

First of all, I’m a pescatarian and there weren’t many options that did not include meat. The noodle dish I ordered, usually called Bun tom nuong, was very skimpy. Usually it would come in a large bowl, but here it was served on a plate. Noodles and salad fixings are cheap, so I was disappointed by the size of my dish for $ 17. My husband ordered Phở and had to pay $ 3 extra to get vegetables added to the bowl! Really??? We had a long wait for our food, and the waiter suggested we order appetizers to hold us over. This annoyed my husband, who felt he was being manipulated. I wanted summer rolls, but was told they had none, nor did they have three other appetizers, leaving us with no decent options. The food itself was tasty and had the Vietnamese flavors I craved… but pricey for what it was, small portions, and very slow service = meh. We’ll keep looking.

I come here at least once a week to bring home shaved beef phở! Absolutely delicious and the owner has amazing customer service. Knows me by name and always offers any extras to me that might make my dinner better. Delicious and pleasant atmosphere.

Excellent and reasonable priced Vietnamese restaurant in the center of Manchester, CT. We had a family dinner and we all enjoyed our dishes! The coconut shrimp and spring rolls were tasty and fresh. The majority of us had the typical Phở soup selecting from the various meat choices found on the menu, from the beef to shrimp choices we were all very well satisfied. The broth from the Phở was seasoned with fragrant spices and herbs which set this restaurant a bit above other similar places I have tried in the past. Check out this place if you ever visit this area just outside Hartford and near the University of CT.

The food itself was fabulous! Fresh with a unique presentation. It was crowded the night we were there and the only available seat was right next to the door so every time the door was opened the cold winter breeze hit me. Service was a little slow due to the crowds but the food was great. I love Vietnamese food and have eaten in many places throughout CT. In terms of the flavor and choices this place is great, the downside is the price and I’ve dined in many equally good places for much less. That is the only reason I do not go to this restaurant very often.

I so wish I loved Bui because it is the closest vietnamese restaurant to my house. It is really lovely inside — probably the nicest vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to in terms of décor. However I did not think the food was at all close to authentic! I had the banh xeo which was overly crispy and oily for what I’m used to. It also came with no mint on the side with plentiful lettuce. Don’t get me wrong, it was yummy, but usually the banh xeo is wrapped with lettuce and mint. It was more like stir fry stuffed in a very crispy and oily crêpe with garnish on the side. My husband got phở which I thought was ok when I tasted it but definitely needed hoison and other flavoring. All in all, lovely staff and pretty restaurant, but you’re paying $$$$ for the nicer look with less authentic food.

My first visit was a very positive one! It was just a random Thursday, but the restaurant was really busy! They had been so busy all day that they were out of a few appetizers. The waiter was right with us though and apologized for the wait(which was actually quite short) and the shortage on appetizers. My dinner date loves the phở and was as pleased as could be with it! I spent a few minutes with the menu, delighted by the posted notes to help me eat gluten free. I ended up with grilled shrimp over rice noodles and veggies. I would have preferred more veggies in that ratio, but it was delicious and I couldn’t finish the good sized serving! We were too full for dessert. I’m looking forward to returning to try some other things!

The phở and chicken dumplings were fantastic. Best dumplings I’ve ever had. The server explained to us what everything he brought to us was and mentioned that many of the sauces were homemade including the ginger sauce and chili paste. One of the best Vietnamese places I’ve been to.

The food is great, the restaurant is pleasant and mellow and the people running the place are so nice. The phở is really good, but my favorite items are the vietnamese crêpe, banh mi(which they only have at lunch) and the rice noodle stir fry with tofu. I admit that the latter sounds pretty plain, but man, it’s so flavorful and fresh. Really relaxed atmosphere, great for meeting friends and hanging out over good food and a few drinks(it’s BYOB and there’s a package store nearby).

This is a wonderful restaurant. From the bright and vibrant décor, to the kind owner, to the amazing family based recipes, this is definitely the place to be. I’ve been going here for awhile now and I have fallen head over heels for the Phở with shredded beef. The beef is sliced so thin, the broth is always super flavorful, the noodles are cooked to perfection, and to top it all off, it’s garnished with fried onions. If you like Phở and a comfortable atmosphere with GREAT music(almost forgot that) then please visit. You won’t regret it.

Perhaps it’s not fair to say this, but whenever I walk into an Asian restaurant that has a largely non-Asian staff and a largely non-Asian clientele, I prepare myself to be at least somewhat disappointed by some aspect of my meal. Let it be known that Bui is NOT an exception to this rule. Yes, the food was quite palatable and, yes, the service was friendly, attentive, and understanding when I rushed the check to make it in time for a show at the nearby Cheney Hall, but I couldn’t help but cringe at the high prices for modest portions of(Americanized?) food… and at the $ 2.50 charge for a «side» of rice(whoever heard of a «side» of rice at an Asian restaurant???)…and at our server’s pronunciation of phở as «faux». My mother, who accompanied me to Bui, halfway joked that the $ 43.00 price tag of our meal went to pay for the décor and white tablecloths. All I could say in response was«Ditto.»

Middle of the week, we came right at dinner time. Eager and excited to try some of the menu items Unilocalers suggested, we decided to keep it light and go simple. We initially were going to split a banh mi, but sadly, they are only available during lunch. Slightly defeated and somewhat sad, we decided to share the fresh rolls. $ 6 for 2 rolls, I was bummed how skimpy they were and honestly felt bad for even sharing. For $ 1 more, maybe we should have tried the summer rolls instead, they come with pork and shrimp. The peanut sauce was unconvincing; it was runny and just didn’t stick/absorb well. Looking for a turnaround, and hoping for the best, I was REALLY rooting for the phở. Wishing that it would offset our current spring-roll heartache, the phở didn’t deliver. Oily and flat, the broth was just off. Garnishing was different, the basil, mint, and crispy bean sprouts were fresh, but once added to the phở it was room temperature at best, if that. So much so, the rice noodles almost seemed uncooked. Looking around, I think we should have taken a queue from the patrons. Everyone seemed to be enjoying some sort of stir-fry or sauté. Very hospitable, the staff is accommodating. The menu is thorough and very well translated. Cozy, it’s one of the more tastefully decorated Vietnamese restaurants I have been to. They lost me as a phở-goer, but I would consider coming back for the BYOB policy or to try the shaken beef or duck which seemed really popular.
