My problem with this business is that they keep saying, «We can’t» instead of «we can.» Unilocal doesn’t list the facility at 195 McGregor St in Manchester. That’s where my stuff is. It’s a great old mill building. Climate controlled. 24 hour access. Great security. But I’m not happy. I was only a little unhappy when they raised the rent three months after I moved my stuff in. But the past 6 weeks have been really difficult for me. I made the mistake of sending my January rent payment to the corporate address in Salt Lake City. They sent the check to the local office in Manchester. Who then sent the check back to me. By this time, the February rent was due. I paid that, plus late fees for January. Then the check I sent in January showed up in the mail. They had added more late fees and wouldn’t accept a partial payment. So I called them, and they said it was fine, that I was good thru the end of the month. I sent the check to them again. And they sent it back again. This time there was a 4th late fee due. I finally had to drive over there and settle things up. And their message to me? We’re sorry, we can’t. We can’t accept a partial payment. Um, it’s a full payment. We can’t take any of the late fees off. To me, there is a difference between, «You’re okay through the end of the month» and«We can’t take your payment because we have added a late fee and we’ll add another one next week.» The bottom line? They’ve had my check in their hands twice in the past six weeks, and have not accepted it because they added late fees, which were late because they didn’t take the check. If it wasn’t such a hassle to rent a truck and move my stuff, I’d do it tomorrow.
