Delicious fresh food. The fried rice is a little bland but everything else we have tried is awesome and such a good value. The orange chicken comes in a huge portion with white meat chicken and is my boyfriends go to!

FINALLYMANCHESTER! I moved here four years ago to discover there was NOGOODCHINESETAKEOUT, until now! I gave up on Chinese until I was really craving it, I checked Unilocal and found GOLDENTAO! The reviews were right. Dinner was delivered fast, on a Saturday night, food was so hot you could not even touch it(it’s 5 degrees and February!) the food was better than any dine in Chinese place I have been to in Manchester. The chicken teriyaki is amazing! Chicken wings are good too! Everything we ate was good! And the portions are good!

We tried for the first time today and we are very happy to have finally accomplished finding a delivery and take out Chinese spot. We have tried so many places and I have not been impressed. I guess the reason I haven’t heard about this place is that they have only been open about a year and a half. The owner was really nice and in my opinion should have slot of success. I highly recommend this place if you haven’t found a go to place.

I work relatively close to this restaurant & it is our favorite for ordering Chinese food for lunch. The food is always good & the delivery service is great! We thoroughly enjoy this restaurant! Some day I hope to go in to dine to try their drinks as well!

Everything we got from here was delicious and fresh! Wayyy better than the other places we’ve tried in Manchester. Great customer service too! The prices were in the typical to high range for takeout, but I could totally see eating there as well. The place was clean and I was impressed with the selection of vegetarian options. Will definitely go back!

Chinese food —(Cantonese, Mandarin and Szechuan) delicious, fresh and plentiful! Also has special Dim Sum dishes on Saturdays and Sundays til 3pm. Also have special lunches(combo specials) all day with generous amount of rice and sides. Another family owned place with new, English speaking & hardworking immigrants. They can also host holiday parties because they have a special room there for that purpose! Good prices and also delivers!

Was looking forward to trying this restaurant today after looking at Unilocal reviews and their menu. Unfortunately, they have an extremely limited delivery area even though they charge a delivery fee. I live 2.5 miles away from them and they refused to deliver even though we planned on ordering at least $ 40 worth of food. That’s just bad business.

It looks like just another Americanized Chinese place in a strip mall but EVERYTHING was fantastic. Had 2 dining companions and we all shared. Very freshly prepared, wonderful quality. Will go back.

The Golden Tao exceeds my expectations on a regular basis. Their moo shu and egg foo young are particularly outstanding. They serve most of the dishes you’d expect on a Chinese menu, and some amazing curveballs as well, such as roast pork with scrambled eggs, beef with pickled mustard greens, and crispy fish filet in pine nut sauce. Combination specials are available all day and very affordably priced. Don’t let the location(hidden in a tiny shopping plaza) fool you! It’s a great place to eat, and they are also happy to deliver.

My husband and I have never had a problem driving more than an hour to find authentic Chinese food, so we were happy to find Golden Tao just 20 minutes from home. Tucked away on a side street in a hard to find strip mall is this happy little gem. The menu is extensive boasting standards like lo mein and crab Rangoon, but if you’re looking for more authentic cuisine, you’ll find such offerings as twice looked pork and Sichuan shrimp. Fresh vegetables, careful seasonings, and a touch of home-cooking makes you feel as though you could be sitting in your aunties home in Hong Kong. Hubs and I scarfed down pork dumpling soup for two and an order of twice cooked pork. While this dish can vary widely depending on ingredients and seasoning, it was full of succulent, tender strips of pork, wedges of green and red peppers, onion chunks, scallions, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts. It arrived hot and steaming at the table. Spicy but not overwhelmingly so. We ate every bite. The owner is solicitous and attentive, stopping by out to see how we we’re enjoying our dinner. She was concerned that our rice not get cold, so she offered to replenish our rice with a hot refill if we needed more. Take the time to find this hidden gem on the back streets of Manchester. I know we’ll be returning very soon!

It is really nice to find a restaurant with decent dim sum and authentic Chinese food in Manchester. The food quality is superb and the service is good, too. Living in Boston, I’m generally a bit picky about the food but I would say that you can’t go wrong with this restaurant.

I’ve veered away from Chinese food for years now because I have a gluten allergy, and that’s a hard thing to accommodate in Chinese food. However, my Chinese friend brought me here, and she helped me navigate the menu. I found some delicious dishes that I could actually eat! I was in heaven. The fried bean curds with minced shrimp and the Singapore noodles were so good that I came back within a week’s time for a second round! Job well done! Golden Tao, wow!

Had a delicious meal here. Scallion pancake, moo shu vegetables, and general gao’s tofu. Highly recommend the scallion pancake and general gao’s tofu. Tofu was unbreaded — just the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. It was accompanied in a sweet sauce with bell pepper, pineapple, and marachino cherries. Tucked around the edges was perfectly cooked broccoli. The meal could have easily fed three. Less than $ 25. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and on-the-ball, refilling our waters before they could reach less than half. Will most definitely come back here, and can’t wait to try dim sum, which is apparently every weekend from 11AM-3PM.

I went in for lunch the other day and I must say I was so pleasantly surprised! I had ordered from there lunch menu. I got chicken fingers. eggroll, crab Rangoon that also came with soup and pork fried rice. And had to try some beef lo mein on the side. Everything and yes everything was delicious! My egg roll was not greasy nor was the chicken fingers. Also I think one of the best crab Rangoons I ever had! They were full of cream cheese and onions. Service was great. And very clean inside. Can’t wait to go back ! Great job all!

I NEVER write reviews, but for this place, I need to. I moved to downtown Manchester from the west coast and tried a lot of different Chinese food in the area. I thought all hope was lost to find anything really tasty. Then, I moved to the West Side, and found General Tao! The Pineapple Walnut Shrimp, Sesame Chicken and Crab Ragoon are my must orders. The deliver which is great, but I’ve also picked up. Either way, it’s convenient. The people who deliver are always so nice and friendly. I highly recommend them!

In search of dim sum, we ventured into Golden Tao on a snowy Sunday morning.(They serve dim sum 11 – 3 on Saturdays and Sundays — a fact which should be highlighted!) I cannot say enough good things about the meal we ate. We started with homemade pork dumpling soup, which consisted of a beautiful clear broth, hand-made dumplings and super-fresh veggies. We literally slurped from the bottom of the bowl. Then we moved on to the dim sum items — shrimp dumplings, bbq pork steamed buns, shrimp rolls, pork & shrimp dumplings were all outstanding, fresh, with clean flavors. The true star was an item recommended by the owner — shrimp & taro cakes. I had never had anything like this before — a shrimp patty in a batter of crispy fried taro chips, like the best fried potato strings you’ve ever had. I can’t wait to come back for dinner. The owner(Jeanette maybe?) came to our table a couple of times to check in and chat. She told us they are fairly new to the area(as are we!) and since we liked the dim sum so much and are open to more«traditional» chinese food items, when we come for dinner to ask her to make something good off menu and they would be happy to surprise us. It was a slow morning(due to the snow) but the handful of customers who walked in were cheerily greeted by name. They only deliver within a 2 mile radius(because, as explained, anything further would take to long and compromise the quality of the food) we will definitely be back to dine in-house.

The Golden Tao! One of my favourite restaurants and I probably come here nightly. Best restaurant for REAL chinese style foods… ask Vincent and Miao Miao and Janet for any recommendations! I strongly suggest eating the Hometown of Fish Fried Rice– delicious with the white fish and mixed vegetables, the rice is just a basic egg fried rice with crunchy fish. And there is one meal that you have to try: The Maggi Jumbo Shrimp– DELICIOUS! The sauce had an amazing coating and the little scallion bits. They are a little pricey but they are worth it. There are a few meals that you also have to try: *Salted & Spicy Pork Chops(AMAZING) *Beef w. Scallions(SOGOOD!) *Every single Dim Sum they have *Beef Chow Ho Fun(GREAT) *Yang Chow Fried Rice(BESTFRIEDRICEEVER) *DS19 Fried Turnip Cakes w. XO Sauce(AWESOME) Anyways, the Golden Tao is a must come! And you have to come here with you haven’t. They have great service, great party room, and great people.

Very impressed by this new gem in the West Manchester neighborhood! We came across Golden Tao while scanning Unilocal for suggestions of what to do for dinner. From the address, I realized it was in the same plaza that the Hillview Restaurant is in. — correction– was in; this place has replaced the Hillview. We opted to give their take out service a shot, though they do also offer local delivery.(I like to «see», at least once, where my food comes from.) The phone call was pleasantly taken and in 15 – 20 minutes I was at their door. My brief glance around during the quick stop in for my pick-up order revealed that it was largely unchanged from the former décor, but definitely cleaned up. In fact, the place was impressively spotless, right down to streak free window panes and freshly washed walls! I was happy to see that there were fewer tables and chairs crammed in.(The Hillview used to pack people in so tightly that I always worried about safe exit in an emergency situation.) The cashier was very friendly and when I arrived home the food was nicely packed and quite delicious. I ordered the General Tso’s chicken and found it very appealing and generous in portion size, and not just overflowing with broccoli«filler» like many places — in fact, there was no broccoli in this version, which made me happy since I don’t enjoy it anyhow. The rice I got with it was delicious. Short grain and very similar to sticky rice– but not prepared in that way. It was definitely not too greasy and light in flavor– easily some of the best fried rice I’ve had.(As an Asian food aficionado, my wife will attest that I’m hard to please, so this is a big compliment.) I also got an egg roll as my side, which was not my favorite, but in all honesty, I picked a favorite egg roll long ago, and I’m far too committed to it to offer an impartial/practical opinion! It was similar to what I’ve found at many other places. My wife selected a combination platter so she could sample several things. She had Crab Rangoon, Chicken Fingers, Beef Teriyaki and all were quite tasty. Chinese Chicken fingers are my wife’s favorite, and they are always a gamble. Some places make them too greasy, others have heavy doughy coating — these were just right. A crispy tempura-style batter that didn’t soak up too much oil from the fryer. We were really impressed, so much so that we decided to return over the past weeked to dine in person. The experience was just as positive. We were seated right away by an attentive hostess/server at a clean booth, a respectable distance from another party who happened to be also dining in.(It’s a pet-peeve of mine when a place sits parties on top of each other in an otherwise quiet restaurant!) We selected an appetizer combination plate,(Chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs, and beef teriyaki), along with some beef fried rice to share as a meal. While we waited, our waitress brought us a complimentary offering of a «fried bun» which she was anxious to get our feedback on, as they seemed to be a favorite of hers. We enjoyed them. It was a lightly sweetened piece of bread dough that was cooked to just-browned color in the fryer. Crunchy on the outside and nice and soft in the inside. I tried to resist eating all of it in order to save room for the main course, but I failed(happily). The food arrived quickly and was very nicely plated, in a presentation that showcased that they clearly care about the food that they serve. It was all cooked just as perfectly as before and served piping hot. Toward the end of our meal, we were greeted by a woman other than our server who we quickly learned was the owner. We were excited to compliment her restaurant and food and enjoyed a short chat with her. She explained that the Hillview’s former owner, Charlie, had simply decided to retire after many years of the restaurant business. «He was looking to get out, and we were looking to get in.», she said. We were impressed to learn that prior to his departure to retire in Florida he made sure that Golden Tao was off to a great start and assisted with some of the start-up activities. He still calls often to check in. It’s always nice to hear a great story like that, and when you pair it up with a great operation such as this, you really wish for their great success. The owner explained that they are not planning to do a lot of advertising and are relying on past Hillview customers and their word-of-mouth. This said, It was a pleasure to write this review, and I’ll be sure to pass on this recommendation to patronize this great business!

Golden Tao opened in the former Hillview Restaurant in Gosselin Plaza on Amory Street. This full service Chinese restaurant serves up the standard dishes and items plus hot pot dishes including Mandarin, Szechuan, and Private Home cuisine. Most dishes priced under $ 12 and 25 All Day Combinations($ 4.75-$ 9.75) served with pork fried rice, appetizer(s) and choice of soup(dine in only) are offered. Beer offered here. I stopped in here recently for sitdown dinner. The atmosphere here still sort of feels like eating at the former Hillview which has booths and a few stools at the counter in a clean casual dining room. I was seated promptly at a booth and offered a beverage(I got a pot of hot tea complementary). After the tea was brought over, I immediately ordered the CS21 Pork Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice, 1 Appetizer(2 Beef Teriyaki Sticks) and Hot & Sour Soup. However, the soup took about 8 minutes to be served, which came in a small bowl(similar to a cup of soup). The hot & sour soup was not too spicy, but it was not served very hot temperature-wise. The main entrée came out shortly after and good portion of food served hot with the lo mein dish and beef teriyakis on one plate and the pork fried rice served in a separate small bowl. The food tasted good and not greasy. The fried rice(short grain and very soft texture-look liked sticky rice, but not) had a mix of roast pork pieces(some fat) with green onions and traces of egg. The lo mein had carrots, green onions, cabbage, and tender sweet roast pork strips in soft noodles. The beef teriyakis were soft and tender with a sweet flavor. Overall, the food tasted good and it was not greasy either. The staff seemed friendly and polite. I’d return again if I happen to be in the neighborhood.
