Hollister is very similar to Abercrombie with similar advertising and apparel and a beach/surfing theme catering to mostly young women(& young men too) from middle school aged to college aged. Besides apparel, Hollister also sells other fashion accessories, fashion magazines, and pop rock CDs(Jimmy Eat World, Jack Johnson, Metrostation, & others). The outside of this mall store looks like a beach house with surf boards in Hermosa Beach and a large poster of a dude with no shirt on. Inside, the place is very dark with extremely loud rocker and rocker chick tunes blasting throughout the entire store, similar to the music played on The Hills. I couldn’t even hear myself think while I was in the store. The store is dominated by mostly young women’s apparel with a back section for young men. Though the graphic shirts, tanks, sweats, pants, shorts, beach wear and jeans do look fashionable, most of the stuff for guys at this store was on the overpriced side, to a lesser extent than Abercrombie, which is very overpriced(at their retail stores). A pair of guys’ jeans here are priced at $ 39.50. There were some clearance items in the back, but the prices still seem high compared to other stores with similar merchandise. As a guy, I would give this store 2 stars for limited apparel selection and higher prices for guys’ apparel, but some of my friends(the Bettys) really love this store(4 stars) for the great selection and prices, so I’ll call it in the middle to be fair.
