Beautiful house, loaded with character. We were upgraded free of charge to the Rose Room — very roomy and comfortable, a king size bed to boot. My wife sat out on the little enclosed porch just off of our 2nd storey room — she enjoyed it so much. The innkeeper was most gracious and served us a fine breakfast of Swiss and ham omelet with home fries. We will be going back.

What a gem the Mansion Inn is! Charming rooms, with a cozy fireplace. Breakfast was delicious; banana and blueberry pancakes, served with fresh fruit, coffee and tea. Bruce, the Innkeeper, is a sweet quirky man who is committed to making sure his guests are comfortable and make them feel right at home. We will definitely be back again soon, and highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a place to stay outside of Hartford!

My gf and I were searching for a weekend getaway from NYC and since neither of us had been to Connecticut, we decided to do a little exploring. After searching for B&Bs in the ct area that would accommodate a one night stay(for some reason most B&Bs we looked at that weekend required a two night stay minimum), we decided on the mansion inn. We arrived at 4:30 and were greeted by Bruce, the innkeeper, at the door. Bruce is funny and a bit meticulous in the way he does things. He taught us how to open the door at night, asked for our morning beverage preferences and showed us to our room. The house is large and«antique» themed, but kept very neat and clean. We stayed in the Ivy room and found it to be exceptionally large(i believe it’s the second largest room on the property). There was a couch, recliner, bed, fireplace, lots of books, and a nice bathroom. The tv was very small, and we would have enjoyed a larger one, but it wasn’t too big of a problem for us. The room was a bit cold(Mid September), though there were extra comforters in the dresser. And I’m sure if we asked Bruce to turn up the heat he would have kindly done so. the night was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast in the morning was decent. We were served cantaloupe and blueberry pancakes with breakfast sausages. We were joined by another party staying at the inn and Bruce, who made sure our beverages were hot. We would definitely come back for another stay at the Mansion Inn if there was more stuff to do around the area!

The Mansion Inn was a really interesting place to stay. I was in town for a conference and my grandmother joined me. The location of the Mansion Inn was great — close to everything we needed. The facilities were clean, cozy, & unique. The breakfast was delicious. A big downside to our stay was the host — Bruce. At times, he was confrontational, obnoxious, and condescending. Other times he was pleasant(but still sarcastic), however we had to walk around on eggshells because we never knew what would set him off. One time, he would not allow us to enter our room because he kept asking us over and over again why the screen in front of the fire was open. He literally blocked the door with his body and when my grandmother tried to pass he wouldn’t let her until she answered his questions. He was extremely condescending and we almost left and got a hotel room somewhere else. My grandmother was really looking forward to staying here as it was her first bed & breakfast experience. Neither one of us would choose to stay there again due to his attitude and behavior. I really love to promote unique places like this but unfortunately I would not recommend it to anybody.

We stopped by the Mansion Inn on our way to Vermont for a brief overnight stay. This was our FIRST B&B stay ever so we had no expectations. We arrived around 4:00 in the afternoon and were met at the door by Bruce, the owner. He showed us around the house and to our room. Our accommodations were exceptional. We stayed in the Ivy Room which was a large room on the back of the house. It had a fireplace, a sitting area, and a large closet and bathroom. The house has a lot of history and character and comes with the squeaks and irritations that come along with any old house. The house was peaceful and quiet throughout the night. The next morning we were met by Bruce again who was preparing breakfast. He served fruit with yogurt and then a ham and cheese omelet with potatoes. What’s more, he sat down at the table with us and gave us the history of the house. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the many years of history and the company he provided at our breakfast. While this probably wouldn’t fit everyone’s style, this impressed us for our first B&B visit and was the perfect start to our wedding weekend.
