Myriad Games in Manchester is my go to gaming store for both in-store gaming and board game purchases. The staff is always welcoming and excited to talk about the latest games as well as older games they love. In addition, people playing in the store are casual gamers who are friendly and welcoming to new(and old) players. The store always has a good selection of hot titles as well as new releases. You can also find hidden gems in clearance, from games people have traded in or hot titles that are no longer popular. This is one of the cleanest and most well-lit game stores I’ve ever been too. And you can’t beat the low prices!

I saw Myriad Games en route to the Toys R Us in the same plaza. They have all kinds of RPG supplies and board games, and some gamers were playing in the back room. They had a lot of interesting games, including a Stargate SG-1 board game.

As far as game stores go, it’s one of the better/best. It is one of the most well-stocked, hands-down. It’s hard for a store to stock everything, but I’ve learned that if I want a particular game, chances are higher that Myriad will have it in stock. I’ve been to many game stores that are like dumpy holes in the wall. This place is clean and well laid out. In addition to tons of board games, they have a gaming room in back with tables for table-top games. One more thing that I like. A lot of game stores these days seem to be little more than Magic The Gathering(or whatever) outlets, with just a few board games tucked in the corner. I’m sure Magic is fun and profitable, but I’m glad to have found a gaming store that has a strong base in both board games and table-top miniatures like Warmachine.

Great store for games. Unfortunately for Magic: The Gathering cards they charge near mint prices for slightly played quality. You may find near mint cards but check cards before you buy them.

The Myriad Games store in Salem, NH, had been my go-to game store when I’ve been in the area, but recently they changed their strategy. They reduced their inventory by more than 50%(mostly non-strategy games) in favor of emphasis on strategy games and numerous tables with these games on display and available for trial play. I hope that strategy works for them. Unfortunately, it had a negative impact on me. That store had been my one-stop shopping spot for all kinds of games, not just the strategy games. With that in mind, I went to the store in Manchester to see if they continued to have the full inventory. WHEW! This store continues to have just about every type of game you could want, including many of the word, party, social, kids’ games. Behind the store there is a games room where there will frequently be gamers and games going on. Behind that, the all-important bathroom. I like the atmosphere of this store even more than the one in Salem, because the gaming tables are out of the way. That makes it much easier to navigate through the aisles without interrupting gaming, much easier to flag down a clerk, and much quieter in the shop part of the store.

Dreadful service worthy of more ranting than I can muster right now, cramped tiny quarters that make it impossible to shop with friends, and prices that aren’t even close to reasonable. If you want to see a game before you buy it then walk in, check out the box art, and order it off of Amazon to save upwards of 50% while avoiding the rolling eyes and potent apathy of its staff.
