I have been visiting Prater’s for many years and it has never once disappointed me. Their ribs are to die for. If you’re ever in the area don’t miss the opportunity to try this out. Staff is friendly and the setting is very local, country style. You will love it.

I love this place. Service can be a little uneven depending upon who’s taking care of your table, but the barbecue is excellent, and If you order the fried pork skin appetizer, they arrive freshly cooked and hot. It’s a great place to stop between Chattanooga and Nashvile.

As I start this new adventure in a Tennessee BBQ establishment it seems fine so far. I’ve order the BBQ Brisket Plate with green beans and fries. I ordered sweet tea to drink as is customary in the South. My work partner ordered pulled pork plate and his came out within minutes, which is consistent with some of the reviews this far. My plate has just arrived.

I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews. I’ve had lunch here several times and the food and service have always been excellent. Today was no exception, the ribs fell off the bone, the green beans were perfectly seasoned, and the sweet potato fries were awesome.

Almost selected another place due to the negative reviews previous; pleasantly surprised by the food. The ribs and brisket were yummy! Not the best bbq we’ve had but far from the worst. Young man who served us was friendly enough. Would return when going past on 65.

Saturday night and the place was packed. Great service and good food. Had live music that was a little loud but didn’t detract from the overall satisfaction with our meal. We both had the Jumbo Sandwich Plate(pulled pork) and split the BBQ nachos.

Coming to Nashville from Southern California and wanting good southern BBQ, this place didn’t disappoint. Had the full rack, played free bingo(Wednesdays) and got some dry rub to go! If your in the neighborhood it’s well worth the stop.

AWESOMECUSTOMERSERVICE!!! I was looking for a way to cater a meal for a local family. Since I live out of state I began calling local business to see who could help. Immediately after I explain the situation and asked if I could purchase a gift card the wonderful gal that answered the phone said she’d write a little note and mail it out to the family for me today. No hesitation at all. Southern hospitality at its finest. If I’m ever even remotely close by in my travels I will be stopping by to try out the food in person. Thank you so much for you help!!!

merely ok for most items — however the fresh made pork rinds are OMG good and the smoked wings so bumped from a 2 to a 3 star as other have said the hot BBQ sauce is just basically Franks.

Went to lunch at this location based on the experiences at the Morrison site. Somewhat disappointed. Had the lunch special(Brunswick stew and grilled cheese). Best of the special was the grilled cheese. Brunswick stew was more like s soup– very watery. One person in our party took two spoons of the«stew» and pushed it aside. Also had BBQ nachos, these were good, for appetizer. Server was average. May give them another try next weekend but will try ribs, pulled pork or brisket that i know is good at the Morrison site.

Ribs are big and very good, but the real star was the wings! They are big and the smoke flavor was excellent, penetrating the entire wing. More smoke in the wings than the ribs. Bbq sauce is unique, tastes like it has some malt in it. Sides were ok. Tater salad is «mustardy», I liked it but it may not be for everyone. Ranch(Chili) beans were good.

Thanks to other Unilocal reviewers we stopped and try this place. Had the pulled pork and ribs with baked beans and onion rings. Meat was great. Good flavor. The husband said the ribs were some of the best he’s had. Great local spot if you are driving through and want something just off the interstate. I would definitely eat there again.

Right off the interstate. This place is not bad but not great either. It’s fair BBQ for a decent price. I had the sampler. The best was the brisket. Pretty decent. The ribs were below average. Only one house bbq sauce. I did not like the cowboy beans they tasted like bad chilli. If your looking for great BBQ keep driving. If you starving and traveling not a bad stop.

Anyone who has ever eaten real pulled pork will quickly realize that this place ’ s BBQ has never seen the inside of a smoker. It is a disgrace that they are allowed to call what they serve barbecue. Paid $ 17 for 1.5 pounds of this crap. An absolute disgrace. The«hot sauce» they offered was actually buffalo wing sauce. Seriously?

Love it! Simple and delicious We were not sure about it but I’m so glad we did it! Great food for a reasonable price. I recommend the lunch special; you can pick a chicken, pork or beef with two sides and beverage included $ 7.50

I believe if you offer an item on your menu although your main offering is bbq, then you should expect it to be cooked correctly. I ordered a medium steak and what I got was a bleeding piece of meat that any good veterinarian could of had on its feet in 5 minutes. The singer that was providing music was Really Good unfortunately it was way too loud when your server has to lean over your table and yell to take your order. They did take the steak off the bill and I order a bbq sandwich with fries. Bbq was tasteless and looked like it had been sitting in hot water and the fries were so over seasoned I couldn’t eat them. The potato salad was nothing but mustard. Our server was adequate but overall it was NOT worth any money exchanging hands.

Got to go four stars on here. First, we ordered take out so the table service is an unknown. We ordered pulled pork and beef brisket to go along with 3 of those Bacon Chicken baked potatoes. We were given plenty of sauce, both sweet and hot, to cover all and then some. Had two large sides of cole slaw and potato salad. Pulled pork and brisket, very good. The cole slaw, a little wet. The potato salad was good. The baked potato items were okay to good. Take out service was good and quick. My first impression: I’m a fan. Am I going back a 2nd time when in the area: sure.

A guy in the hotel lobby was raving about this place so we went to give it a try. Very good BBQ! The ribs were excellent — gooey and smoky. The slaw was delicious and the beans had the right amount of smoke. Our waitress was very good. Good food, quick service, clean and neat but with a local bar vibe.

Okay, I am a Detroit girl. I am not an expert on ribs or BBQ or southern cooking. I do know what I like. My husband is working in the area for a while and Prater’s came highly recommended. And it wasn’t these ribs! Barbecue? I don’t think they were this day. Just very bland, no zip, nothing special in the sauce. Sides were average. If this is the best that the area has, then I will stick with the chain places. Sorry, Prater’s — you didn’t get my vote. It’s also very loud on the nights with a singer. Turn the volume down a touch so people can talk and enjoy themselves. The singer was actually pretty good, but just so blasted loud.
