Stopped by Spellbound Salon on the recommendation of my sister who is good friends with Lynne, the manicurist. Lynne is one of the first manicurist in the area to offer the Minx manicure. I believe she stated that the salon was recently featured on the local news. All that aside, Lynne is a very nice and personable, and the salon is very modern. They offer all of the latest OPI nail polishes, which I love love love. The salon is a little hard to find, it is on the side of a small shopping plaza in Manchester which is not easily seen from the road. I went in to try the Minx manicure, after seeing my sister’s nails that were flawless. She had a black and white pattern done to match her coat. I decided to try a metallic red in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The manicure itself is $ 40, which is cheaper than New York standards, but a little high in my opinion for something that most Connecticut resident’s have never heard of. I believe the should of started out with a $ 25 introductory rate for a few months and then increased it over time. But anyhoo, the manicure itself only took about 30 minutes or so and is very safe for your nails. I am bit of a perfectionist, so I was slightly perturbed with some bubbles and imperfections that I was left with. Even though some of them settled down after a day. For $ 40 I felt that it should have been flawless, but maybe she is just not use to doing the metallics as well as the the patterned and matte Minx. The manicure has the potential for lasting up to two weeks, it depends on how rough you are with your nails, the speed at which your nails grow, and if you are like me, how fast you get sick of the color. All in all, I would definitely recommend you try it, just maybe not a metallic color.
