Stop by last Friday for happy hour on a beautiful day. Shea’s @ Tomato Joes is a great place to enjoy the sunset. They had an acoustic singer who sounded great They had $ 4 beer special and we ordered a few snacks. The mussels picante we ordered were spot on. It’s served with red or white sauce. We choose white. It’s sautéed with garlic herbs and white wine. Served with a couple of pieces of toasted bread perfect for dipping. We also got an order of fried mozzarella which was a good as to be expected. The house marinara was well done. The last thing I ordered were the garlic knots and we were not a fan. We brought them home for the boys and they did care for them neither. They are too dense, not light and fluffy like you would expect. The Alfredo sauce they drizzle on top really made them too heavy for me. We will be back to enjoy the outside part of Shea’s and prob get a pizza next time as those are getting good reviews.

Shea’s patrons should undoubtedly welcome the addition of Tomato Joe’s! We finally came out to try the food at Tomato Joe’s and were very pleased. We sat on the patio and were happy to hear the band start early. Great Thursday night atmosphere with music and baseball on the TV. But most importantly, the food was delicious. We ordered the eggplant fries to start followed by a small pizza. The eggplant fries could have fed four people easy. We had to push them aside to save room for pizza. The marinara added good flavor. The pizza was cooked perfectly and the crust was thin, but not too thin. We find it hard to find good pizza in the Manchester area that is not overly greasy or over priced. We went with the Special Pie and will definitely go back to try some of the others. You can’t beat the patio and now you can have a great meal too!

I have gotten pizza from here twice now. It’s absolutely delicious. It’s thin crust and the ingredients you can tell from the taste are very fresh. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it can be awkward going to the bar to pick up your pizza. You have to sort of wait to get the bartender’s attention with the normally packed bar.

This spot was hot, for a saturday night and being next to Kohls. We went in for some wings and Pizza. It was the regular frozen ones fried up with the said italian garlic and none on the plate. Tasted like frozen fried chicken with some butter on top. Special pizza with red sauce was loaded with black olives and not-so-special. Would definitely skip it … Service seemed prompt and the waitress was attentive … Thats the 2 stars… just for her.

Clean restaurant. Just don’t sit near the speakers which we did. The waitress was wonderful and turned it down when I asked her but the manager came over twice during dinner to turn it back up. I gave up. The wings are awesome! Had the BBQ flavor and they had a nice char on them(which I happen to like). The mozzarella sticks were also good and my co-diners had the calamari that they enjoyed. The pizza was great. I was a bit skeptical because I’m very picky about my pizza but you could tell the mozzarella was fresh and the crust was nice and crunchy. A definite try if you go. The rest of the dinner food was okay. Nothing special. I had the chicken parm and it was«eh». Not bad, not great. Average. Be warned, the portion sizes are huge so be prepared for take home leftovers or to split a dinner with someone(or three). Portions are ENORMOUS! Waitress was friendly and accommodating. But for the price, you get a lot for your money. All in all, I would go back. But maybe just for the pizza and apps!

Went here for a early lunch with my wife and son. We had the fried calamari and eggplant sticks for appetizers and they were both very good. The portion of eggplant sticks was soooo big we could have only eaten them an all been full. Then we got a small chicken broccoli pizza that was also excellent. We will be back soon tool try more of the menu.

Great friendly staff. Food is very good. Pizza is surprisingly good. Had the meat lovers pie and it was cooked nicely, flavorful sauce and meats were equally plentiful.

Good pizza for the area! Maybe the best, but I’m spoiled by Wooster Street in New Haven. Love the remodel though!

My husband and I had been wanting to try Tomato Joe’s since they opened. Last night we decided to stop in after shopping to get a quick bite. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive and there are no complaints with the service she provided. My husband ordered the appetizer pie and he thought it was very good. Sorry, anchovies so I passed on trying it. I ordered a side salad and an order of wings. The salad greens were awesome! Nice mix, fresh and satisfying. The problem I had was with my chicken wing order. I ordered the Italian garlic expecting a dry finish. They were meaty, moist and flavorful until I picked up the one with the full feather hanging from it. Ewwwww And I’m not talking about a pin feather either. The waitress was very gracious about it and the management gave me the to go salad I ordered for free and the waitress threw the offending wing away and packed the remaining wings for me to take home. This morning I took the wings from the styrofoam container to a microwave safe container for my work lunch. Two more wings with full size feathers on them. Ewwwwwwww. I love wings, and I have eaten them at many many places in the area. Never have I received them with feathers still attached. This is just stomach flipping gross. I can’t believe that the kitchen staff did not see the feathers as they handle them from bowl to fryer to seasoning to grill to plate.

I love the staff — they make the whole experience complete! The food is wonderful. As noted — the portions are huge and the prices are right on point — except for the happy hour — sorry guys — I gotta tell it like it is. Happy Hour is an afterthought and needs more thought. But the place is still fun, entertaining and most of all– the food is worth the wait you will have on a Friday or Saturday night! I especially like the grilled wings. Everyone else has fried wings and it’s nice not to eat something fried! The taste is delicious The grinders a packed and the rolls are the best I’ve had in the area. I’m looking forward to warm weather and what new offerings the patio will bring!

Absolutely horrible. Disgusting food, and ride manager. Tried to make the best of it, because there was no seating in the small bar area. The waitress was nice at first, but once we were having a conversation, and laughing, we were actually chastised. Keep in mind there were 3 tables of people eating, and a crowded bar area. We were in a booth in the restaurant area. Not a place to go if you want to have fun, even mildly. Definitely NOT Sheas atmosphere. They need to decide if they are a fun place, a bar, a restaurant, or whatever. Asked to leave before even finishing dinner.

This place has impressed me and I haven’t even stepped foot in the restaurant yet! I work at Manchester Honda and they came in with 4 sample pies! There were fantastic! Manchester Honda buys all the sales consultants lunch on Saturdays so we bought from them. The menu for Saturday was a bit more extensive including wings and grinders. Everything was hot and fresh, cooked perfectly! This review will be part one… I’ll review again for the sit down service!!!

Had dinner here today. Had the linguini and red clam sauce. It was delicious. My wife had the chicken and sausage cacciatore. She said it was excellent. We are going back again for sure. I also spoke to thrower about our experience either the pizza I reviewed earlier. He told me they don’t add seasoning and we should ask for it in addition to the topping we want.

Pizza-wise, 5 stars, and then some, all the way. That’s the important thing. I stopped into Tomato Joe’s on a Saturday night around 7:30pm with my boyfriend. There have been marked improvements to the building and layout since it was Shea’s, though it looks like Tomato Joe’s is still getting it’s new restaurant sea legs. The hostess and take-out stands, for example, were kind of a hot mess. Staff was ample, but every single staff member seemed to be pulled in a million directions. We were seated after a less than ten minute wait, but it was fifteen minutes before any staff member even acknowledged us, though our both was flanked by booths already being served. Chelsea was the only reason we didn’t get up and walk out, which we were on the verge of doing. She stopped by and asked if anyone had been to our table, and then graciously added us to her section even though we were clearly not her responsibility. She then proceeded to turn our whole experience around. Chelsea cheerfully took our order– a regular size house salad, and The Queen Margarite Pie– and had the salad at our table within five minutes. It was a glorious mix of field greens, and the house balsamic was delicious. The salad was also enormous and plenty for the two of us to share. Our pizza was out in another ten minutes, and it too was gigantic for only $ 19.99! Honestly, it was the best pizza I’ve ever had in Manchester. Crushed tomato base, big chunks of garlic, fresh basil, and mozz made this a classic dream on a thin crust. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake, which was by far one of the best desserts I’ve ever had anywhere. Simply outstanding. Overall, the service and management of staff needs a whole lot of improvement, from my experience. However, if you can overlook that while they smooth it out, the food is truly worthy of praise and an excellent value. So, put on your patient pants and go try them out!

I was starving late last night when I remembered that Tomato Joe’s had just opened recently within two miles of my house and I hadn’t tried it out yet. When I got there the bar was still open but the kitchen was about to close so I was«that guy» who orders food right as they are trying to close up. They handled it well though, and my small artichoke and pesto pizza was served quickly. The pizza was very tasty, but overall I thought it was a little too greasy. I would definitely eat it again, but I wouldn’t call it my favorite pizza in the area. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar area; they did a really nice job with the renovations. Overall, I’m looking forward to returning here and excited about the idea of having this place so close to where I live. I could definitely see myself returning here on a semi-regular basis.

This revue is being written by a picky pizza snob, so when I say how good this pizza is, I really mean to say it’s the best pizza in the area by leaps and bounds. I hope this place takes off as a take out and/or delivery restaurant as well as a nice sit down place because I will be ordering from here each and every time I want pie! I had the pepperoni pizza and sausage and peppers pizza. Both were great but I’m partial to pepperoni. I also had the garlic knots with marinara dipping sauce which were good(I could have done without the extra cream sauce they put on top of the knots) The Caesar salad has in house made croutons which made it much better than a typical Caesar and from what I was told, they are going to be making in house dressing soon as well. I can’t wait to come back and try more things from the menu. Whether you are sitting in the nicely remodeled dining room or at the bar watching a game, this place will serve incredible pizza and always with friendly, prompt service.
