Wira chicken

I’ve visited this place several times since moving to Manchester and have tried over half of their menu. I loved their chicken, empanada, yuca fries, and plantains. They also have a really good soup, but that’s not always available. They also have good sauces, although I wish they could have something spicier. They also have peruvian drinks like inca cola and limonada morada. And of course to go with good food and value, the sevice is great! The owner is always friendly and helpful, and he makes sure that the quality of order is up to par.

Friendly staff and delicious food. Take out only. Chicken cooked and seasoned perfectly. Many options for side dishes from the basic sweet potato fries to the Peruvian rice. All were very tasty.

Wira chicken was a great trip after being trapped all day at Manchester hospital right now the street. Honestly the chicken is fairly unremarkable. It isn’t juicier or more flavorful than the store bought rotisserie chicken but there are so many plusses to Wira chicken. 1) great sides. Loved the rice, Cole slaw, beans and sweet potato fries. 2) the salad is basic but plentiful and, more importantly, fresh. 3) last and most important, the sauces elevate the food from basic to amazing! The «mild» sauce is this delicious garlicky creamy sauce. The medium was a mix of cilantro and garlic and spice. The spicy was not all that spicy but didn’t have the creaminess like the others. I think altogether there are 6 or 7 sauces. The ones stated above are my favorites though. Great customer service though — they will pack a little bit of each with the order.
Although, they ran out of a whole chicken so they offered 3 empanadas (plus ¾ of a whole chicken, in lieu of waiting 20 min for a whole chicken to be done) for the same price. We were only missing a small quarter of the chicken. It was definitely a fair trade because the spicy chicken and beef empanadas were amazing!

Second experience not so great unfortunately. Delivery took over 90 minutes this time which is completely unacceptable. Chicken was pretty burnt as well. Sweet potato fries were top notch while mashed potatoes were sub-​par. Three star rating this time combined w/​first 5 star rating averages out to 4-​stars.
Will try again and hope for something more like the first go-​around.

Excellent chicken. Empanadas are awesome. Sides are a bit lacking but the chicken makes up for it.

I honestly can’t believe that people are saying their food was good!!! It makes me wonder if the posts below this one were legitimate!!! Everyone has different taste buds but this was absolutely the most disgusting and unauthentic Peruvian food I’ve ever eaten. The delivery time was excellent, but the rice I ordered was extremely mushy, flavorless except for a little spice and looked like overcooked rice-​a-​roni with corn & carrots thrown in it (I wish I took a picture). My order was wrong, even though I selected what I wanted on their order online options. However, the chicken was decent, but didn’t hold a candle to REAL Peruvian rotisserie chicken and came with only one, not even half filled container of dipping sauce. I will NEVER order from here again and if you want REAL Peruvian food, do yourself a favor and drive to East Hartford, CT and eat at Piolyn Jr on 860 Main St. I wasn’t paid to write that at all, just giving a suggestion on a much better restaurant and trying to save whoever reads this, the disappointment!!!

Basic Sweet potato fries and the rice was well-​seasoned but seemed slightly undercooked… Enjoyed the Empanadas — A great addition to available food in Manchester.

Went to Wira Chicken today for the first time after hearing about it. My wife and I got the family meal #1 on the menu (for 4 people) with the 4 sides. Got some sauces to go with the food that I used on everything. Get the cilantro sauce, I poured it on EVERYTHING! The food is EXCELLENT. Chicken is delicious, each one of the sides was on point. Quality food. We got the beans, mashed potatoes, chaufa rice, and sweet plantains. We also got a huge salad with all this. The #1 meal deal is a lot of food for 2 people but looking forward to leftovers :-) I’m so glad I found this spot. I will be back a lot more often now.

You really can’t beat the pricing… particularly if you have a groupon or localflavor certificate. The workers were nice and helpful, and we got a lot of food for very little. I would assume, however, that all the high ratings are based largely on quantity and price, probably with focus on feeding little ones that like blander foods. The sides were just OK, and the chicken was a little overdone. The «hot» one of the dipping sauces that we were warned had a lot of heat was mild to me (little lady thought it was pretty hot… but she doesn’t care for spicey). Be back… eh. probably not. I’d honestly rather have a cooked grocery store bird. …but Wira also delivers apparently. I’m sure I’d be much more appreciative of what they do if I was more local and had kids.
It’s definitely a takeout only place… there’s limited parking, and no seating. Barely enough room to go inside even.

Price/​value fantastic: $ 32 for 4 people is plenty of food! Only option is take out! No seating.
Easy choices to choose from. We got steak and spicy chicken empanadas, sweet potato fries, cole slaw, chaufa rice, beans.
Dessert: pudding and flan.
Location: in Manchester with parking spots available. Small space.
Quality: thought rotisserie chicken was dry. Loved all the sides. Got a variety of nutritional value. Quality is at par with the quantity that was provided!

Excellent takeout, with a great variety of sides. I got the personal chicken dinner and it was seasoned very well with a side of tasty Peruvian rice and sweet potato fries, and a chicken empanada. It came with a healthy amount of food. I also tried the chicken with the cilantro sauce and it was amazing…
The worker who I assume may have been the owner was very nice.
I will be frequenting this take out chicken joint often in the future!

The first time I ordered food from here, a few weeks ago, was pretty decent. The chicken was delicious and so were the sweet potato fries. Instantly, I fell in love with the cilantro sauce and want to buy bottles upon bottles of it. The Peruvian rice and sweet potato fries were delicious. I’ll definitely be back (and get more cilantro sauce, I’m seriously in love).

I was looking for some good rotisserie chicken and this restaurant came up. It had pretty good reviews so I figure I’d try it.
I got there when they were about to close. I wanted to try their empanadas but she said they were out and all they have is half chicken left. I bought the half chicken meal deal with 2 sides. I got corn and sweet potato fries for my sides. They put the sweet potato fries in a small box and they put the chicken and the corn in the same big box. When I got home, I noticed that the chicken had some corn juice which I didn’t mind at all. I figured it’s just corn juice so it was no big deal. I started dishing out my food and I took a bite of the chicken. The chicken was pretty good. I started putting some corn on my plate when I notice something didn’t smell right. The corn was pretty slimy and I thought it was cream corn first but it looked like it was regular corn. I tried a kernel and it was pretty sour! I smelt it and it smelt like it was spoiled. I took a closer look of it and it had some bubbles. I was very disappointed so didn’t bother taking another bite of the chicken because it had some juice from the corn.
I know that they were already closed but I still tried and called the restaurant hoping that they’re still there but nobody answered. I guess better luck next time.
On the other note… the sweet potatoes were pretty good.

I’m going to echo my fellow reviewers comments just because it warrants repeating. The chicken is delicious. And for $ 18 for a family meal that’s a great deal. But the sides are hit and miss. Remove the heavily peppered instant potatoes from the menu all together. Keep it simple with Peruvian rice and a side salad. The sauces were delicious however all the squeeze bottles in the refrigerator needed to be restocked at the start of the shift. Banging bottles on the table to give me what’s left is poor presentation. Even with the few issues I will definitely be back!

Stopped by here with a groupon and picked up a family meal (whole chicken plus 4 sides).
1) This is not a dine-​in restaurant. Think of it as a stationary food truck. An earlier review called it dirty, not so, it’s just small and everything is really tight.
2) Staff was pleasant and worked very quickly to put our meal together.
3) Chicken: Delicious! Very well seasoned and moist all around.
4) Sides: Mac and cheese was okay, very sharp cheese. Fries (sweet potato and regular) were very good! Coleslaw was the best — very picky about my coleslaw and this was perfect! Salad was fresh and crisp.
Value: A family of four can definitely eat from meal #1. You can’t beat the amount of food you get for the price!
Overall: Will come back again! Two thumbs up!

the salad was fresh.
the sauces *with the chicken are definitely worth a try — the purple sauce and the green sauce are amazing, different — I wanted more. the pink sauce seems to be russian dressing.
the other sides are terrible: typical buy it by the barrel in a restaurant supply house.
my impression was that it’s not an especially clean establishment but it may have just been cluttered. I know it’s a small space and I don’t want to be harshly critical, so i won’t be. but that’s something I look for and will look for when I go back — cleanliness, especially new places. if it’s not clean when it’s new and they’re just starting up, if it gets a lot of business, it’s not going to get better.
I will update when we go back for a second try.

I wish you could do 4 ½ stars! Super tasty chicken. Juicy, HUGE chickens with good flavor :) Get their sauces on the side they’re good. Husband liked the salad and dressing, beans were good. I wish there were a few more options for veggie sides but other than that fab and hella cheap. Nice owner too!

Great peruvian pollo ala brasa. Wonderful peruvian sauces. Nice simple menu. Excellent portions. Takeout or delivery no sit down. Super excellent service. Definitely going to visit again.

FANTASTIC CHICKEN! Wira’s is strictly take-​out. Friendly owner & simple menu. Loses a star because the sides I ordered were bland: the mashed potatoes lacked seasoning… maybe add butter, milk & some garlic powder? Also, the baked beans looked and tasted like they were straight out of a can. THINK THANKSGIVING — the sides are just as important as the turkey! My advice to the owner: go the extra mile with your sides… there are tons of great recipes on the internet. Make Wira’s Chicken AN EXPERIENCE! Also, offer more domestic soft drinks (no root beer, ginger ale, Sprite, or orange soda??). I’ll definitely be back, and hope that Wira’s is here to stay!

Wow, this place rocks. I just got a family meal delivered (yes I ordered it for myself) as it was such a great deal. Honestly based on the price I wasn’t expecting much… Boy was I wrong. First of all the delivery came in under 30 minutes, which is always great. For the family deal I got a whole chicken 3 sides and a salad for $ 18 and change. The chicken was super moist and had an awesome Peruvian flavor. The sides were on point as well and the salad… Well the salad is sitting in my fridge right now as I currently have no more room. I will definitely be patronizing the shit outta this place!
