Hand-crafted Margarita with lemon & cucumber — outstanding! Everything is really fresh, place is large and open so it can be lively and not too loud… Been here twice this month — on a sunny Saturday afternoon for outdoor drinks & snacks(sound system does a decent job of drowning out the traffic noise from hwy 190); and on Sat night for dinner — both visit had EXCELLENT service and really enjoyed the food. TVs everywhere if you’re looking to watch sports. Love this place.

One if my favorite places to eat! The service is great, the management is good, and so is the food! Usually guys my age dont get good service because a bunch of kids after school go there and eat free chips and water and never tip… But they know i tip respectfully and i get Exquisite service and food every time! I recommend this to anyone trying to get a good decent priced meal! Plenty of TV’s to watch sports, good variety of drinks, and lets not forget the Queso dip!

Ate there today. Not very good. No sure why. Could have been that it was early. Not that is any reason for it not being good. I will go back. More better then not. :) We ate there over the weekend. It was ok. They need more seasoning. Service was good.

Service was ok. Food was mediocre. Got queso and it was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Tortillas were chewy. Chips and salta were good. I wouldn’t return.

Had dinner here this evening, and I was underwhelmed. It’s your typical pseudo-Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurant. The salsa you get with your chips is recycled Pace Picante sauce with extra cilantro thrown in for«authenticity.» I got the chicken flautas, which ended up being taquitos(flautas are rolled flour tortillas with chicken, then fried; mine were corn tortillas). My husband got the chicken chimichanga, which was a very small, served on a big plate, with the rice and pico de gallo taking up most of the space. I didn’t hate it, but I won’t be back.

Not a fan. Staff is always rude and food never tastes fresh. Mi Mamacita’s is the place to go for Mexican food on the Northshore.

My favorite Mexican restaurant on the Northshore. There are a few La Carettas in the area but this one is the nicest. The outdoor patio area is beautiful and perfect for margarita drinking. The service is unbelievably fast. As long as they aren’t too busy you will get your food about 10 minutes after you order. My menu favorites are the pork tamales, flautas, and the chili relleno.

HORRIBLE! The food was cold, chips were stale and the staff was rude. Even the manager didn’t care about our comments on the food. Never again!(Also, saw roaches running around.)

La Carreta’s Mandeville is by far the best place to go for Mexican on the north shore. All the ingredients are fresh tasting. First off the essential chips and salsa are always a must«keep them coming». My favorite dishes are the chicken quesadilla with grilled fajita chicken and the steak fajitas by far the best place to go for either of these dishes and others like the diabla shrimp. The top shelf margarita is also an awesome beverage and there’s always draft on tap another fav of mine.

Came here with my SO after a LONG morning of studying. We started with queso(and the free salsa of course) and chips. I had the Mariachi — a beef burrito, chicken flauta, and beef crispy taco. She had the tamales, which apparently came with a HUGE chile relleno. I ate most of my meal, and most of her chile relleno. She ate most of her port tamales, but I got a couple bites. Everything was above average, but nothing was exceptional. The service was lacking, and the prices were about right. We were satisfied, but not overly impressed.

Eat there almost every Sunday, great place to watch football. I love the margaritas and have never been disappointed with the fajitas-, chicken, steak, and shrimp — always pleased. Awesome salsa and chips.

Stopped in for a margarita after working with my friend in New Orleans. Convenient place for a great drink after work. We would go again.

Good atmosphere and excellent service. Meal was good. My wife had a grilled chicken quesadilla and liked it very much. I had a beef burrito and she had a beef taco. These were both okay, but the ground beef was a little dry and not much flavor. I would go back to give it another chance.

Very bland tex mex. The only great part of the meal was the queso. Much better Mexican around the area.

I really like La Carreta. You got to try the Alambres. That is the best thing on the menu. They have great fresh salsa and tasty margaritas. I wish I was there now.

I went there with friends on good recommendation. I had the enchiladas which i almost always get first time at a mexican place. They were not good at all, serve barely warm. The meat had the distinct taste of dried out of the bottle spice which you can tell because its so sharp and to me unpleasant. My friends had the fajitas and they were OK. Even though most people are less critical than me and did not complain, i detect very faint almost forced praise of their meal so I don’t think they were that impressed either I had the ‘strawberry’ margarita which i am no big fan of but was going with the flow. Sweet which is to be expected but more than usual.

I have been away from home for 3 weeks and I’m homesick for good old«bite me back»(Tex) Mex food. Spicy Chili Rellenos, Fresh Guacamole. .. aaaahhhhhh.(I was so tired of the bland stuff they call Mexican food in Mississippi.) Upon my arrival on the«North Shore»(of Lake Ponchartrain) I asked the hotel concierge where I could find a good Mexican restaurant. The only thing she could think of that might fit the bill was«La Carreta» in Mandeville, just 4 miles away. When I arrived I asked the waiter what set this place apart from the other places around & he said their drinks. .. I don’t drink… I told the waiter that I was homesick for spicy Tex-Mex and couldn’t decide on what to order from their menu offerings. I then asked him to ask their cook what he would suggest, then I ordered it. It was GREAT, and was only $ 12.95. The Tacos de la Calle Pastor were 3 open faced tacos piled high with spicy shredded pork, served with a garnish of Lettuce, Avacado & Pico and a fantastic bean soup. This fancy Spanish title(Tacos de la Calle Pastor) litterally means Street Tacos with Pork in Texas. Back home I have 3 street taco venders within a mile of my house and they cost an average of $ 1.69 to $ 2 per taco and come with the garnish on the side. However, the tacos at this restaurant had about twice the meat piled on them and they were beautifully presented. And the bean soup was a fantastic taste of home and worthy of a meal by itself, filled with beans, meat & spices. For starter I ordered their Shrimp Coctail and was a little disappointed. This Shrimp Cocatil was good but not the best I’ve found. The sauce tasted perfect, but there wasn’t much substance to it(too soupy). It was served with 3 very thin slices of Avacado on top(more as a garnish for looks), and had1 jumbo shrimp on the lip with about 5 more floating around inside the goblet.(The BEST is served at Don Jose’s, 2312 W 7th Ave, Corsicana, TX75110) Tthe American version of Shrimp coctail usually comes with Jumbo shrimp and is served with a very thick sauce which is used like a dip for the shrimp. With the Mexican version of Shrimp Coctail there is a very spicy sauce filled with chunks of shrimp, avacado and pico de guillo. With the typicaI thin sauce I felt that these shrimp were too big too eat easily with the spoon and they needed more avacado & pico to thicken the dish.($ 8.25) Atmosphere — 3 stars Staff attentiveness — 5 stars Taste of entre — 5 stars Coctail — 3 stars Chips & Salsa — 3 stars Value — 3 stars

We went for lunch and it was pretty good. Lunch prices were reasonable and I had very good fajitas. Fajitas and Negra Modelo are always a good combination. Just don’t put a lime on my beer. What’s that about anyway? Do I look like I would want fruit in my beer. No I do not.
