I find it hard to believe that it has taken me this long, but I finally obtained a St. Tammany Library Card. I was beginning to think that it wasn’t necessary since almost all of the books I read are of the E variety. Despite my aversion towards actual books, I want to make sure my children understand the importance of libraries. So on a recent weekday, I took one of my kids, and we both got cards. The process was very easy, and the librarian was extremely helpful. In fact, she may have been the friendliest and most helpful librarian that I have ever dealt with professionally. She thoroughly explained their E-Book lending procedure which seems like the perfect way to read new books without buying them. All you need is a library card and you can download the e-books to your reader of choice. This branch was relatively small. It did have traditional books, DVD movies, music CDs, audiobooks, and internet connected computers. There were also several quiet spots where one could sit and read or study. If you don’t have a library card, go get one. Even though it is 2012, the library is a great resource and it is important that the younger generation understands that. Note: There is no after hours book drop-off at this branch. You need to go to the Giror Street branch for that.
