Since Vigroux opened I have been wanting to try their Pop’s Gentilly Po-Boy. I had never been brave enough, then once I worked up the courage they were closed every time I went. Today was different. I was off of work, and they were open. Let me start by saying that I love po-boys. My favorites are roast beef, shrimp and hot sausage. I’ve never been a huge fan of ham, which is why this took courage. The Pop’s Gentilly Po-boy consists of baked ham, bacon, jalapenos and pepperjack cheese. The combination goes incredibly well together. This sandwich was incredible. All of Vigroux’s sandwiches have been great, but this sandwich rocked my world. I don’t know if it will replace the roast beef as my favorite, but it was great. My one complaint was my side of fries. I don’t know if they ran out or stopped doing it, but their fries used to be hand cut. The hand cut fries were great. Today the fries were just your standard french fry. The fries were a totally unnecessary side item. The sandwich was so loaded with goodness, there was no was to finish that and fries.
