The food is terrific– if it were only based on food, they’d get 5 stars. But a strange incident– my waitress tried to charge me $ 2.00 for the cup of hot water I had. Yes– just plain hot water. When I challenged it, she said, «Everyone is charging for water now.» Um. no. The owner took it off my bill, but it should have never been there in the first place. Very odd.

This is an outstanding, what we used to call«luncheonette». It is a neighborhood gem. We go there often for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The ownership and staff could not be more friendly and pleasant. The food is prepared perfectly by professionally schooled chefs. It is served with the care of family. A true go to, whether for morning eggs or for dinner soft shell crabs or everything in between.

This is usual my go to spot whenever I’m around the area but today will be my last. My husband, young toddler, and I came for lunch and saw our waitress a total number of three times — she took our order, gave us our food and then our check. She didn’t give us a chance to ask her for an extra small plate for our daughter or Tabasco sauce. She gave us the check half way through our meal and all she said ‘I’ll be over there behind the counter. Have a nice day.’ Never even bothered to ask us if we needed anything else. Our empty glasses of water and coffee cup were staring at her right in the face. Were we supposed to use smoke signals from across the room to get her attention? The diner was busy during lunch time and I get that. However, other tables were getting proper service from their waiters while we were getting little to no service. The food is good but totally not worth it for the bad service.

discovered this cozy diner on Unilocal and thought i would give it a try while catching up with an old friend. when we walked in we were greeted and told to sit anywhere we want. the waitress that served us was nice and the food didn’t take that long to come out. i got two over medium eggs with bacon and home fries with buttered rye bread and my friend got the manhasset omelette. both were delicious and i was satisfied with how my eggs came out ^_^ the bacon was crunchy and the potatoes were… potatoey LOL i gave 3 stars because after our food came out, i guess our waitresses shift ended? she was no longer in the diner and no one else was helping/serving us. after chatting it up and finishing up our meals, we were both stuffed and ready to leave but no one was coming to our table or even looking our way. my friend asked the guy at the counter if we could get our check and he said sure but never gave it to us… we waited a little bit longer and still no check. if we got up and just left i don’t think they would have even noticed. there was another waiter helping other tables so i just raised my arm and asked if we could get our check again and he finally brought it to us. this time, no one was coming around to take the money so my friend and i just decided to get up and bring it to the register ourselves. we shouldn’t have to keep asking for the check and be kept waiting.

Always great. Service is pleasant and very accommodating. It’s a bustling diner with a hometown feel where everybody knows your name. All the staple offerings you’d expect from a diner. Fresh, homemade, consistent, bright and cheery. A hop skip and jump from the Manhasset train station makes it a popular place for commuters.

Here is a good old fashioned traditional diner. It is close to the LIRR and the offerings around the LIRR are not opened at the same early hours that I need breakfast. This place is nothing to write home about but it is a solid choice for this area. Good coffee!

Growing up in Manhasset, I’ve been going to this place for as long as I can remember. Being a picky eater when I was younger, I would only order their Grilled Cheese-which, to this day, is probably one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had at a diner. As I got older, I started ordering their chicken and fish dishes too. My favorite is by far the Salmon Santorini with olives, tomatoes, and feta cheese. Delicious. The breakfast food is also awesome, especially their pancakes and omelettes. And the home fries are great. If you’re a high schooler going out for lunch during the weekday, get one of the High school specials. The only reason why I didn’t give it the extra star was because as nice and friendly as they are, the waitstaff could be a bit more attentive. I’ve gone whole meals without anyone checking in with me about my meal, or even refilling my water. Nevertheless, Louie’s is a gem, and there’s a reason why I am so loyal.

I get a wonderful greeting the moment I walk in. the place feels homely and extremely community based. they have such a large range of breakfast to dinner. I was tempted to get a brunch burger but ill have to come back. Spartan omelette with home fries and toast.

Good Saturday morning breakfast place with decent coffee. The place was just about packed and service was quick and polite. Nothing fancy here, just straight up diner food.

Stopped in to Louie’s today for lunch with a co-worker Parking was a bit tricky, but we were able to find a spot on the street right out front. We sat down right away and a server greeted us soon after. They have a pretty big menu so we took a couple minutes to look over it. I decided on a BLT with fries and my coworker went with the pizza burger with sweet potato fries. It did not take long at all for our food to come out. Everything was really good — fries were your standard french fries, but the BLT and burger were delicious. The BLT was a perfect lunch portion! The whole atmosphere was very clean and well kept. Not your average diner!

My favorite dinner for 23 years. It’s not fancy but very straightforward good clean food. Family run business and love service. Only bad thing I could think of is the prepare to write on saturday brunch. I love their bugars and sandwiches. Its the landmark of manhasset.

Best corn beef hash I’ve ever had. The coffee was great and the silver dollar pancakes were the perfect portion for one person. I will definitely come back

I live in the neighboring town of Port Washington but drive to Manhasset for Louie’s. Service and food here are both excellent and way above diner standards. Even though they’re always busy the food comes up very fast. I’ve even showed them a picture of a killer breakfast sandwich I found online that they recreated for me. I recommend their«Bull Burger» which is a burger with egg and bacon on it and the Irish Benny’s which is Eggs Benedict with corned beef instead of canadian bacon. The negative things I can say about this place is that parking isn’t great and its often busy and the waiting area is cramped, but the wait is never very long.

I can’t believe I had never been here before having gone to high school right up the block. A friend brought me here today for lunch. It’s not big but they were able to accommodate my party of eight. The food was delicious. Even my kids said its one of the best diners we have been to. I don’t know what they did to the grill cheese but it was soooo good. We will definitely return.

Over-rated diner. A lot of loyalty from people who live in town. I find that they burn their burgers, the cleanliness is low, service is meh, and they rarely change their cooking oil. If your looking for a good gyro, the Greek place across the street is a better option.

I’m keeping this short and sweet. This is a fantastic establishment. Consistently good food and service. I’ve come to this diner sporadically for many years and I keep coming back. The coffee is fantastic and refills are free, which makes a huge difference in the world of diner eating.

Cute little diner. Service was really fast despite the fact that they were jam-packed because of a charity walk. I had 2 poached eggs with bacon, home fries, and toast. I do wish the bacon and potatoes were a bit more cooked, they were close to raw. Very good prices.

Manhassets hometown diner. Consistent and consistently good. From Greek dishes to breakfast all day to a pretty decent pot roast: I have been eating here for almost 25 years. There’s a reason. First: they have been here that long: they are a family business and nice people at that. Second: it’s no bullshit food. Good, attractive, well served and affordable. You will see everybody go into Louie’s on the weekend. The place is packed, but good turnover so don’t get discouraged, it’s worth waiting. You can linger over coffee in the booth at night and early weekday mornings waiting for the train. Good coffee, great corned beef hash and home fries and I like their fresh OJ. They sell the newspapers too, good stop on the way to the morning train. And when my wife’s out of town, Louie’s for dinner is happy news to my kids. When you go, tell Pete I said«Hi.» He’s in the back, cooking. Unless it’s early morning, that’s dad. Louie. Nice people, good spot.
