I recently participated in a cake class and thought the class was informative and the cake delicious. Our instructor was friendly and knowledgeable; she also paced the class well. I never felt bored or lost. The menu included three cakes with different flavors and textures, which is a positive, in my opinion, since a variegated cuisine list suits multiple palates. The price, $ 69, is unequivocally too high. I envisioned each student bringing home one cake for that cost, but we brought home a piece of each cake. I do think, if we asked, our instructor would have given us more, but that should just be included in the cost; it shouldn’t feel awkward to ask for what you paid for. The«break» to shop upstairs felt gimmicky; I’d rather browse at the end if I so desire. My other rationale for the three-star rating is the catastrophic parking. Practically mandatory valet to shop at a store is simply ludicrous. In the lots of adjacent stores, the signs are quite unclear and skimpily located throughout the space. You will be chastised(not by Sur La Table) if you park in the wrong spot. I do not blame Sur La Table for this issue; however, the store is aware of it. Let students know about the situation in advance so they aren’t driving around in a flurry five minutes before the class starts.

My mom and I did the Greek cooking class with stuffed grape leaves, red snapper, bulgar pilaf and pistachio cigars for $ 80/person. The menu was great but the class wasn’t set up well due to the following reasons: 1) we ate standing up at a counter instead of being seated at a dining table 2) red snapper was the main course and each person was only allotted half a filet which is very stingy considering the price of the class 3) most cooking classes offer wine with dinner but there was none here 4) the majority of the cooking was done by sur la table and as a participant, we mostly just mixed ingredients and the chef did the rest 5) we were given a 15 minute break to go shop at the store which was unnecessary considering we were all starving and ready for dinner Overall, I had high expectations for this expensive class and was very disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend.

One can never learn enough ways to spice up things… I am talking about in the kitchen people, lol… Checked out a class with a friend and totally loved the setup and experience. The class was about 2:30 hours where we learned all the steps hands-on for a 5 course meal, which we constructed and shared with some amazing random people. Chef Sam is amazing, down to earth and very approachable. His passion for food and teaching new fun and creative ways to cook are limitless. I would recommend it to all whether you’re a newbie in the kitchen or a pro.

We went for the Flavors of the South class. We had just been introduced to Tennessee hot chicken so being able to make it sounded amazing. The instructor was great. He was informative and friendly. We also learned how to make biscuits from scratch which was super easy. I wasn’t a fan of the succotash or ice cream but not because it wasn’t prepared well. I plan to definitely return for more classes.

I took a cooking class here with a friend and browsed the store while they were getting the food ready. The cooking class was $ 69, which I thought was a little pricey. You cannot bring your own wine in, which we learned when we got there. That was kind of annoying because it would have been nice to have a glass of wine with all the cooking we did! We did the ravioli workshop, which was three dishes. 1. Pumpkin Ravioli with a lemon caper sauce. 2. Cheese ravioli with pesto sauce. 3. Sausage Spinach ravioli with marinara sauce.(note: we made everything except the marinara sauce.) I have a pasta maker so I did want to learn how to make homemade pasta. It was really helpful to have someone show you how to do it so that I could repeat it at home. There was about 9 people total in the class. The chef did a good job explaining everything and we were all given the recipes to take home. We also were given a 10% coupon to shop in the store while the chef was getting everything together for the dishes. After we shopped around upstairs, we came back down and were able to eat the food we made. There was definitely more than enough for everyone. I’ve used the recipes a few times since we went — I made homemade pasta twice and the pesto sauce. The recipe for the pesto sauce was great and my fam really liked it! The homemade pasta also came out really good when I made it at home. It was definitely helpful to have someone show you how to do it because it could be a little tricky. Overall, the class was good, but I think nearly $ 70 is a little pricey. P. S. Parking sucks. You might want to park in lord and taylor and just walk through the front.

It was my girlfriend stephanie bday present to take her to Sur La Table for Date Night at Culinary Adventures to Tuscany. We had a group of 12 people. 6 couples. Our instructor was Chef Brian. He is a great teacher and will answer all your questions i asked him a ton. We made a pork tenderlion wrapped in proscuitto and stuffed with an oilve tapinad. We had a beat and arugala salad. Our side was broccolini. For dessert we made pumpkin tiramisu. Great nite. I recommend taking any class there.

This is a review on their Cooking Classes. First off parking is just ridiculous, and it the middle of it snowing walking around the building to try and find the class entrance was less then fun. The class itself was informative. Would I go back, probably not. We had a chance to go upstairs and shop. So I bought myself thermometers, like our class said we needed. Well they lasted 2 times, now they are broken in my draw.
