Debonair Cleaners

To be brutally honest, I don’t like this cleaners and I (personally) don’t plan to use them again. My girlfriend has been a customer for years and she is up and down on them, but lately a lot has gone wrong.
Around the beginning of Feb 2016 this location had a fire in the back (machinery section). Thankfully, no one was injured. Getting details from these folks was spotty. They had to keep everyone’s clothes for almost 2 weeks, and I guess they re-​cleaned a lot of stuff too. For the most part, I can be understanding about things like this… it isn’t planned, and it is not meant to derail customers plans to have their clothes cleaned. I was very turned off by the communication and the complete closing of the location even after the Fire Marshall deemed it okay to get the clean-​up and restoration crew in there. Debonair has a few other close by locations, and if it were me, they should have loaded up their trucks and moved the stuff to Hermosa so folks could get their cleaning.
So items originally dropped off Jan 28^th, finally were available for pickup on Feb 10^th. And I was less than impressed (again) with the pressing of my shirts also. In addition they tried to give me someone else’s shirt that was mixed up in my order and they had to find one of my shirts in the orphan section. Which I am glad no one else got my shirts or my girlfriend’s clothes too.
— Too many times the pressing was not good, inconsistent, or just hardly done.
— The prices are silly expensive, really, really high. 1 laundered and pressed shirt is over $ 4.00, that’s not even dry cleaning. a suit jacket doesn’t even have a set price it’s determined by fabric and starts around $ 8.00. Six articles of every day business wear was $ 32.00 (including my gf’s corporate discount). That’s bonkers.
So, while this location is convenient, the people are rather nice (at times), and the Debonair name is widely known in the South Bay; I don’t plan to go back. Maybe my gf will use them out of habit, but my clothes am not going near them.
There’s a great little cleaners in Redondo near Whole Foods, that uses all organic and clean processes, and they’ve done well for me in the past…

Terrible experience. Dropped off my clothes and they added on additional charges to my order without my approval and without notifying me. They then charged my credit card the additional charges and refused to refund the difference. Completely unethical business practice adding on additional charges to customer orders. Make sure you check your receipt when picking up your clothes.

Have been going to them for years, they are professional and have a speedy service! Also had some things altered with them & there was nothing to complain about.

Awful customer service. I had so many clothes to pick up. The lady who works there did not bother to help. She pointed out the clothes. From begging it was very uncordial. I would never go back.

This place absolutely sucks. They are unreliable and I would not recommend using them to anyone. On three separate occasions I called in for a pick up and my clothes were left outside for 3 – 7 days. Each time they assured me this wouldn’t happen again and I was foolish enough to continue to use them. I called in again for a pick up on Friday morning and found my clothes sitting outside on Sunday evening. Never going back to this place.

It is sooooo expensive! Thought I would try it out because got coupons in the mail so I’d get a good deal but it was still more expensive than my normal cleaners! Will say the lady is nice but it’s way too expensive to justify ever going back! Don’t be fooled by the coupons!

So the customer service is great here and they really know what they are doing when it comes to dry cleaning.
The prices where a little high for me but I just moved to the area and apparently that’s standard for Hermosa Beach.

AWFUL COMPANY! Horrible service! I’ve been with them for over a year and there have been SO many case of irresponsible oversights that I had to dump them. Their employees are just plain incompetent. The only reason I stayed with this overpriced piece of crap company was the convenience of having my items picked up and delivered. However, they often messed that up too, leaving my clothes at the front door all day and not picking up when they said they would. The delivery guy was a complete moron. Then they would come unannounced on Saturday morning to pick up clothes they were supposed to pick up the day before, while I was having breakfast with my family! They often did not actually CLEAN my clothes and I had to send many items backs. After the most recent service which had FOUR mistakes I had to dump these idiots. Do NOT pay these high prices because you will NOT see the service for that price. In fact, I’m sure I could clean the clothes better!

More expensive, perhaps, but we have been using Debonair for 6 months and have never had a problem. We’ve had other South Bay cleaners damage items because they did not take the one extra step to see if the item would hold up under the stress of cleaning. If an item is fragile enough to warrant dry cleaning, it is worth the investment to do it right.

OK, so a lot of MIXED reviews … time to set the record straight.
1. Yes, more expensive. But a few other aspects to consider or do to mitigate the RETAIL costs.
2. They have a LOT of coupons in the area. This helps a lot. (no coupons = you are a fool)
3. They deliver for free. This to me is huge. Direct to door?
OK, bash it if you might. But all of the above adds up to great for me.

They are close to home but the only down fall are the prices. They are pricey. They do a good job and i am sure i can find something else close to whom I am on a budget and with the ecomomy down they should think about lowering there prices

Not only is this place super-​expensive, but as some of the other reviewers have noted, they have a tendency to put stains on your clothes. I don’t know if it’s caused by dirty machines or presses, and it’s not every time, but it happens enough that I’m giving up. If you’re going to charge top dollar, you better deliver top quality, not the opposite.

Service here is pretty good most of the time, and they can usually have your clothes ready by the next day if you need it… I took a few shirts in there, and when I went to pick them up, the dark ones were ok, but the white one had stains on the sleeve that weren’t there when I took it in! Let them know, and had them redo it to get the stains off.
When I came back to get it, the stain was off, but there was another little mark on there… it looked like a rust mark to me. Didn’t want to risk having them do it again because I don’t know what’s gonna be wrong w/​it next time and don’t feel like rolling those dice. Won’t be back.

I heavily rely on Debonair Cleaners. They have pickup and delivery service for dry cleaning that is super helpful. With a quick 10 second phone call each week, my dry cleaning is taken care of.
The only downfall to this place are the prices. But I feel like I’m paying for convenience. They also have coupons that you can cut from the South Bay Mailer for 30% off dry cleaning and 15% of laundered items that helps a ton!

I decided on Debonaire because it is on my way to work, in a good location. The prices are a little high, but not totally out there. My clothes came out well and they have fast, next day service, same day service if you bring clothes in before 9 am.
I am a bit confused by their convoluted system: they gave me two receipts, which, after reading them did not seem to have any particular order to them. When I went to pick up my clothes they scanned the receipts and then produced another six receipts which they then had to scan to get the price. It took too much time.
I had two pairs of pants, two dresses (one was a specialty dress), three blouses, a sweater, and a skirt and it amounted to $ 73. Again, a bit much — at my old dry cleaners in Long Beach it would have been $ 40 — but then again Manhattan Beach is just more expensive (I guess). I am gonna try some other options.

I decided to try their services, because I had a coupon for 30% off (in the Southbay Monthly). They do a good job with the dry cleaning, with plant on site, and they advertise are being ‘green’. I didn’t even have to ask for a rush, they automatically had it ready for the next day.
The only thing is: they are expensive! Here are some of their pricing, since I asked for an itemized receipt: Pretty much everything for dry cleaning starts off at $ 5.95 (slacks, sweaters, blouses) and goes up from there. A suit was $ 11.50! Men’s laundry shirts are $ 1.89 and they have a another pricing for men’s casual cotton shirts, aka «sport shirt» at $ 2.50.
Tuesdays are their $ 0.99 laundry shirt day, but you have to also bring 2 pieces of dry clean (they also have coupons on their website).
Summary: good but pricey.
