Other Gymboree stores are very good so this review is specific to the store in Manhattan Village. It is clearly mismanaged: the shelves and racks are a mess while the employees stand around and gossip, they are rude to customers, and when I finally caught the attention of one of the employees to ask them a question (I was going to ask if they had the size I was looking for in the back), she said «yeah, what do you need» without even looking up from her phone. So I didn’t even bother asking, I just shrugged and walked out. Too bad because their products are great but this store is the worst.

Whenever I shop at this Gymboree store location, I feel offended by the unfriendly staff and cashiers. Especially someone who seems to be the store manager (named Y) always seems to treat me with a brash attitude and impoliteness. I had to wait a while to get up to the cashier to check out, she says «sorry about the wait» to the person behind me but not a word of apology to me. Also, when I finally walked up to the cashier, she looked at the person behind me and asked «who’s next?» as if I’m cutting the line to check out faster. She never properly greeted me, and multi-​tasked while ringing me up by helping other customers, which delayed my check out quite a lot. She is so impolite and brushes me off that I get offended as a customer. I don’t want to shop at this store any more.

Reading these reviews actually surprises me! I’ve been working here for 7 months now and so far all my coworkers are super nice and helpful to our customers. To the person who complained about using ur drivers license to make an exchange, the computer does say it requires that. You can skip that part but then i would get in trouble by my manager. And if you call and we say we’re super busy, we actually are super busy. There are moments where it does get crazy in the store so please cut us some slack when you’re asking us to do a stock check, sure enough our store is small but we have many items and more inventory in the back of the store. We like to try our best to make your experience here better!

I have been shopping at Manhattan Village for years and worked there for many years as well, but I was very surprised when I went to shop at Gymboree in manhattan village. I don’t have anything bad to say about the merchandise or merchandising in general. I was shopping with my mom and liked some stuff on clearance, as I was looking through it I asked the employee, who was behind the counter the entire time I was at the store, and never greeted us, if there was any additional discount on the markdown/​clearance items. She ignored my question so I asked her again and responded very annoyed «30» so when I made my way up to the register to pay, she did not give me the «30 percent off» she had told me about. Instead of acknowledging the fact that she we was wrong, she made me feel stupid by saying «those are not 30 percent off!!» employees here are not helpful!

We received two clothing items as a gift, but they were way too big for my daughter. I went to exchange them for something different but was told I could not make an exchange unless I let them swipe my drivers license. In this age of identity theft and unwanted information sharing, I thought the request was preposterous and inappropriate especially for a $ 17.50 merchandise exchange. I requested to see the policy that says I’m required to allow them access to my private information and after a call to the 800 number, a call to corporate, a call to the manager (who was at home, not on duty), and after checking the «sister store» next door (Janie & Jack) they could not produce the policy but still refused to assist me. I never shop at this store anyway so I was all too happy to leave and swear to never return.

I called this store to check and see if try had a dress before I drove all the way there. The employee interrupted me and said with a lot of attitude «we are too busy you can call back closer to when we close at 9.» As tiny as this store is I’m sure you could see the item from the register. Horrible.

Out of all the Gymboree stores in the area this one is the lamest! It is the size of a closet and is quite disorganized. I was here over the weekend and the employee who rang me up charged for the same pair of pants twice! I went back a half hour later (so he would remember me & what I bought) and even though he credited my card back, it pretty much sucked because I had to go all the way back there as soon as I got home. Try the one in South Bay Galleria or Del Amo for a better selection and sale rack, k?
